OFFICIAL: Gudjohnsen to Monaco

Barcelona has today officially announced the transfer of Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30) to AS Monaco.

The French league club has officially confirmed the news saying that Gudjohnsen joins them for the next two seasons.

Barcelona won't receive a transfer fee but could get 2 million euros depending on the performances of Gudjohnsen, who joined Barcelona in 2006 and whose contract expired next year.

With Barcelona, Gudjohnsen won one Spanish league in 2009, one Spanish cup in 2009, two Spanish super cups in 2006 and 2009, one Champions League in 2009 and one European super cup in 2009.

I wouldn't say over rely at all anony, they have been holding their own very reliably so far this season. Other than the ibra goal la cantera has been keeping us alive this season.

Good luck guddy and thank you for the years you gave us. I ll never forget your amazing goal last season which saved the game for us and was a turning point of the season. the dive goal if anyone remembers !

Loved this guy as a pro always giving 110%. Great diving goal indeed last season. But I remember him also for his goal at Anfield keeping us in the game for the quarter final of ECL. Some other nice face savers against Celta Vigo away if I'm not mistaken. Beginning of 2007-2008 season.

He just was not as technically gifted as the rest and was always a litle bit out of sync. As a striker he was very decent, regularly breaking busses but no Henrik Larsson level. All in all a very good player, just not superb. A true professional though and a good character to have around the club.

Little Guddys are probably sent to the monaco academy and they will be mediocre like their father...I'm just happy he leaves
