With such a small squad, and no constant pressure of defenders and tracking of the ball as a result of eto'o leaving. The only thing Chygy will be doing is putting his hands up in despair!

It is well known in Barcelona (i live in Spain so i know what im talking about) that guardiola is not happy with the squad he has as he wanted villa/mata/aguero/robhino. Even though ibra came, it is a small squad. We are going to be involved in the most matches, yet we have the smallest squad.

I read eveyone on this blog, following barca blindly and just cheering and boooing the first person who says anything negative.

What i am saying are facts ! How could a squad compete in europe and domestically with the small squad we have?! Everyone here says youth youth youth! They are called YOUTH for a reason ! 1) no first team experience 2) not as mature etc...........

It would be detrimental to the team and the youth players themselves, if they are put in positions to replace an injured player for important matches. Think about it, if barca fail as a result of injuries. ppl will bla,e the youth as they stepped in.

Txiki and Laporta SHOULD have worked harder and got in a PURE LW and a midfielder. Lets just hope that their mistakes dont come haunting them.

Visca El Barca !

If it wouldn't have been for Guardiola's expensive taste, we could have bought more players... Have we ever spent more in one summer? I think Guardiola cannot complain.

Can't accept more with groga... To enhance squad depth one won't go for super-stars. When all Guardiola wanted was a bigger squad, why did he have to ask only for Aguero, Mascherano, Fabregas, Robinho, etc. No body, when sober, would lose their best players for any thing less than EXORBITANT prices as Guardiola puts it, and that too he want them to be squad players(read Mascherano & Fabregas here)
But yeah, we can manage with youth players as well. But problem with Pep here is, once we are ahead by 2-3 goals even against a small opposition he usually doesn't show guts to sub off injury-prone players like Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Messi, etc. He brings in the youth only after 85min of the game. No use of giving them the rest for 5 min you see. We are not only avoiding injuries but also providing the experience for the fringe players. Had he been more confident, we could have subbed Iniesta against Villareal or Henry against Real Madrid and we would not have had to endure all that tension ahead of CL final and moreover Iniesta is not yet recovered from that injury! Against Real I was panicking saying why is Henry still playing and bam there was his knock!

Rotation and providing experience to the fringe players is not just giving them chances in CDR but playing them in league matches also

I am happy for the positives... At the same time I'm scared looking at the negatives. I think that way and obviously I might be wrong. I just expressed my views, don't understand whats wrong with that!

Priceless! :D

Theres nothing wrong with expressing your views, never said there was. i can understand where your coming from with the relatively small squad we have, but trust in gaurdiola. if it is noticed that the squad is too small before the january window, we can then bring in a couple of squad players and if arsenal are doing bad we might be able to get fabragas. so theres no need to start worrying.

Not regarding small squad. After all last year we had similar squad except that Henry was younger and we 'thought' we had a ready cover for Xavi/Iniesta in Hleb. I worry how Guardiola goes in for late, late substitutions. Last year, since he was a rookie and had lot of pressure on him to succeed one can understand his no-risk-please procedure. But this time I hope he does get substiutions if we are in safe position like 2-3 goals ahead, at least against small oppositions. Like he didn't have to wait till 80th min yesterday to sub, could have got Xavi out after say 70min when we were already 2 goals ahead. Of course it came handy since our players picked up some knocks, but why wait till they pick up knocks!?

@ Boat forever.

Did u see our midfield lineup yesterday?? Theres a reason why he left Xavi for 90 minutes. Yaya was rested and iniesta was injured. Busquets in my opinion is not reliable enough yet , he makes some serious mistakes in bad positions. Keita had a fantastic game but in a different aspect , he was very strong in the air. Was it just me who noticed that we dint have any passing rhythm for very long periods of the game ?? Sporting were closing spaces very well. We managed a few good 1-2 passes. But imagine our yesterdays midfield without Xavi. It was a VERY good move to let him play the whole game.. Im very sure , if Yaya was playing , he woulda subbed xavi after 2-0.

I think people's concerns are valid but to make conclusive statements based on nothing? That's mere unjustified cynicism.

We won all games apart from the Gamper Trophy which was experimental so why complain? Let's cheer and stand behind Barca and thier players and wait for the results! We still play beautiful football ...

I don't see anything wrong depending on the 'youth'. Messi was one of this 'youth' you speak of so is most of our brilliant squad! I remember people were complaining as to why Rijkard used to constantly bring Iniesta on the pitch 4 seasons ago... I would like to see thier faces now with what Iniesta has become!

Have some faith guys will you? We're not all coaches and critics .. We're just fans and we enjoy blindly cheering... Yes! It tastes even better when we're winning...and we are!

there is still a january transfer window. guardiola probably have a feeling that no one will be seriously injured by that time cause it won't be that tough until then so he will recruit during that time... this is just speculation.
