Cesc could arrive in June...or December

Catalan sports newspaper Sport reports that there is a chance that FC Barcelona transfer target Cesc Fabregas could join his home side as early as this December, depending on the results of his current team, Arsenal. If the Londoners cannot get past the group stage of the Champions League and/or are doing poorly in the Premiership, the team may finally cede to the player's wishes and allow him to move back to Barca.

The Champions League issue should be settled by December 9, the end of group play. Counting in Arsenal's favor, however, is the fact that its group is particularly weak (featuring only Standard Liege, AZ, and Olympicos).

The Premiership is another story altogether, with Barca reportedly believing that Arsenal does not have the manpower to hold its own amidst the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and even the restocked Manchester City.

If Arsenal fails in one or both of these efforts, it is possible that the team will look to regroup early. Cesc may also make a more concerted effort to leave if it is clear that there are no trophies in his future at Arsenal.

Either way, Barca could be in a good position to bring back their former youth player before the calendar reaches 2010.

enough of cesc news... i mean didn't he say he has no probs playing for Madrid... i was thinking if madshit coudn't sign ribery they would try to sign him just to rub it in our face.. last time perez signed figo this time all our players would have showed perez the middle finger.. so i thought cesc would have been the best ploy in perez's dirty plan....

Whatever anony. Can't you just let it go with the madrid statement? The success of the team must take precedent over any remarks made. I welcome this news but I'll wait and see if he does accepts Arsenal new contract for him or he drags his feet on it. If it's the latter I'll believe the rumours.

Seriously, stop dwelling on an unconfirmed statement that has no meaning whatsoever. Everyone at the Camp Nou will welcome Cesc with open arms, and I hope this deal can be realized.

I see Arsenal and Cesc having a big year. It will have to wait till next year or the one after... Where will he even play? Surely not over Xavi or Iniesta. Move Iniesta to Henry's spot? Not worth it IMO. Cesc is the replacement for Xavi. Give him 2-3 years at Arsenal then bring him back

we would defnitely need a midfield back up when toure and keita r gone even if we can mangae for lw with bojan, pedro and jeffren
coz if u look at thiago and jonathan ......be real guys ....they r young they need time to develope physically and experience wise even if they have skill and talent we cant directly depend on them to fill the shoes of first team players ....u can expect them to strt against weaker teams at home but not for away games coz we wont be having the security of toure and the stamina and workforce of keita....though we have time till jab both to evaluate which players we want (for LW or MIDS or both) and the young players too have time to prove there stuff...!!!

JDS is already 19 years old, hawk. 2 years older than Cesc was when he started to play regularly for Arsenal. If you are good enough, you are old enough.

JDS just looks like a kid...IMO we don't need cesc since xavi still has many years left and his kind of players rely on their intelligence and technique rather than physique

Anyone who has seen the way Xavi's been playing would realized how much we need Cesc. Xavi's tired and he's been sluggish and not as sharp as usual. Still good, but not himself. I don't believe JDS and Thiago are ready yet. The reason Barca's youth system is so good is that players are free to develop without pressure and it's too much to expect those two to be back-ups to Xavi.

We need to bring in Cesc and let JDS and Thiago develop some more.

i cant believe why some people said that we dont need cesc cecause we already have thiago and jds..they are still too young, dont put pressure on them, let them mature like xavi and iniesta..they also matured slowly..
bringing cesc in is better for their development as they can learn from the best and hence become better in a few years time..

this is bullshit - for the very simple reason that he will be cup tied in january and there is NO point buying another expensive player who will warm the benches in the CL. next june - excellent.
