Lampard: "Barcelona yet again toughest rivals"

In an interview with British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard looked back at last season's Champions League defeat against Barcelona:

"After the Barça game it was probably one of the worst atmospheres I've ever had in a dressing room. In football you obviously win and lose a lot of games and you have bad lows but this one was horrible.

It was bad because of the way we lost it. We should have won. We were all upset with the referee and certain things. We were upset and angry then. But you have to get on with it. You can't forget it but it's football and you do have to move on. And we have.

The aim now is obviously to try and win it because in the last few years we've come so close. Barcelona are certainly yet again our toughest rivals in Europe this season. We have played them so many times now, we've played them three or four times in the last six years in the Champions League and they are definitely the most talented team. But there are so many good teams out there. You have to be ready for any of them."

Chelsea had no intention of playing football . They just parked the bus in both games . Even after Barça lost dumb-ass Abidal to a stupid red card Chelsea still did NOT have the courage to play . They just " parked the bus " . Remember: NO GUTS NO GLORY . Barça was better and deserved to win . Deal with it and stop bitching !!

I have a feeling everybody is going to play Barca like this every game. Park the bus and go for counter attack since the teams do not know how to play against total football

No need to hide behind stupid old sayings Kahuna... We had the similar injustice in first leg; Henry had a legitimate penalty claim denied for which Bosingwa should even be given a card which would make him 2 yellows; That foul of Ballack on Iniesta should have earned him second as well;we were denied many more free-kicks. Had the ref been correct with those decisions we could have scored in 1st leg and also Chelsea would have missed 2 imp players in Bosingwa & Ballack for their second leg.

AND most importantly this is for all those Eto'o supporters who had been bashing Ibra citing him not passing to Henry while he was on run... and me for asking them to support the team and not players : Eto'o missed 2 one-on-ones against Chelsea in first leg shooting directly at Cech. He should have passed to Henry to make it an open goal once but instead he took a shot directly at Cech.
All I'm saying is Eto'o is no saint and he's not as selfless as some of you portray him to be... Also Ibra needs some time to settle in. Now that its him who is our main striker we need to support him instead of chanting Eto'o every time Ibra doesn't score. If you really can't get over Eto'o I still say the same thing, go support Inter, they even seem to be in deadly form. Once he starts scoring I don't understand what you guys would do with that filthy mouth of yours that had been so disrespectful about him. I wish that happen for Barca's sakes.

@Andréssibraviqué: Did you read what I just posted ? If so, try to understand it before making your stupid remarks . Everybody knows that we were screwed by the refs in both games . That is NOT the point . I'm only referring to Chelsea's fans and players constant complaining . So read before spouting your idiotic nonsense !!

I didn't mean to hurt you Kahuna. I only like came across that argument with saying so many times that I just reminded we don't even need to rely on that or some thing. Yeah my bad, sorry

Also many reviewers seemed to have missed the ref's stupidity in first leg & kept saying Chelsea didn't deserve to win just because of their tactics. In fact we outplayed them in the first leg, but only because of some wrong luck(Bojan & Henry) and some stupidity(Hleb & Eto'o) that we didn't score then. So thought even you might have meant the same and take a closer look even you did only mention about their tactics

@Andréssibraviqué: we are all Barça fans so there is no need for the unprovoked attacks . My apologies !!

That bitch of a Mourinho started his bloody mind games already! He says Pep wanted to sign Ibra and would go ahead if Mourinho wants to go for Eto'o & then he said he wouldn't have done that if he was in Pep's shoes.

Very typical Mourinho . He also said that Inter are better without Ibrahimovic . The guy has no class . He is a low life !!

what an 1diot, still moaning. chelsea penalty claims overrated, barca penalty claims and red card underrated!!

"we've played them three or four times in the last six years in the Champions League"

Inter are now a better team without ibra. Only the idiots have yet to realise this.

Inter are a better team without Ibra, I'd accept that. But that's not because of Ibra's leaving, it's because Mourinho has made some very good buys this transfer window. Eto'o, Diego Militi, Lucio, Sneijder. Now only idiots would call Inter are better because Ibra left

Oh my! Hit a nerve have we? Well don't burst a blood vessel in your head now; we wouldn't want all that precious knowledge about what makes the world a better place loss to us now would we?

I don't understand why people are attacking each other so much in here. Lampard is right about the ref screwing up the 2nd leg - he never said that was the only reason why Chelsea went out.
And I agree that Inter seem to be more of a team (if not "better") without Ibra - or rather: With Eto'o and Milito. That doesn't mean Ibra is a bad player - just that their dependance on him alone was holding them back as a team. It is a similar case with Ronaldinho - we ARE a better TEAM without him, but I still love him as a player.

Don't forget that we were screwed over by the ref too. He missed Henry's penalty, A free kick for Messi and Alves, . Meanwhile he forgot to book three players out of which two could have been suspended for one match, Bosingwa's red card, Alex's yellow card which deserved red, Ballack's very dirty foul on Iniesta, and Essien punching Sergi Busquets.

Inter are a better team without Ibra?...just how do you justify that with only 2 games into the season..very poor against a newly promoted side then a hammering against the worst Milan team I can remember in over 20 years.

Get a life, if it wasn't for Ibra and the bribary scandal then would still be looking for their first scudetto in decades.

Also to Frankie, Rest of Chelsea and their fans, you english just have one eyes which only sees the wrongs done to you but not the wrong the ref done against Barca. The truth is your pathetic club does not belong on the same level as Barca historically or success wise and will never win a Champions League title. The way drogba was falling all over the place like his been shot..if he was a barca player doing this against you there would have been a national strike in england.

What was the topic? Lamps talking about Barca right? Lets not fight over Eto-Ibra swap.

And for those saying chelsea and few teams dont try to play football, its their "strategy" and it works for them most times. you should be able to mix your style, Chelsea would attack Sunderland, Stoke etc and "park the bus" against Arsernal, ManU and Barca. Do you want them to "play" us so we can destroy them? That would be silly.
