Maxwell to be presented tomorrow

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that left back defender Maxwell (27), who is currently on tour in the United States with Inter Milan, will arrive in Barcelona this evening.

The Brazilian is expected to be officially presented tomorrow after undergoing the medical tests.

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona director of football Raúl Sanllehí would have travelled on Tuesday to Milan to lay the basis for the deal. All media agree that Maxwell will sign a contract for five seasons. Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the defender will receive a year salary of 4 million euro.

20m euros salary??? Damn, that is too much. He will probably be one of the best paid 33 year old football players in the world at the end of his contract.

5 years on, 5m would probably be like the average pay of a normal bench player lol

Goal.com writes Barca and inter agreed on a loan deal of Hleb... Now that's some bull shit don't you think? Or is it true?!?

Uhm its difficult to tell but skysport italia were the ones to break the maxwell story as well. I think it could be true especially as guardiola has returned and told laporta and txiki to hurry the hell up with the transfers. Word was that Jeffren could get his chance on the left flank this season which would mean hleb's mins could be severely hampered. Also if we do indeed go for cesc Iniesta would need time on the left flank and hleb would not get much time at all.

Sky Sports is also reporting we are looking at poulsen and with caceres reportedly heading the other way we could well see a deal that sends poulsen to us and caceres to juve.

We will not go for Cesc. There is no chance in hell. We are definitely going to sign a striker, and he will be expensive. Cesc is not possible to sign for less than a huge fee.

Let us hope Poulsen breaks a leg tomorrow so the deal is off. 16.5m euros for Poulsen is pure madness.

I'm sure not against getting Fab back to Camp Nou, but there is some bad side of that coin... His transfer fee is way too much and also getting Fab and moving Iniesta to LW would make the average height of our front line very small. Iniesta Villa Messi... Who's going to be utilizing the crosses from both the flanks>? Seems not such a good idea getting Fab, instead go all guns for Ribery... After all it's just a rumor him saying he only wants to go to Madrid and Bayern never seemed to criticize Laporta for going public on his wish list containing Ribery

Yes, Ribery is a giant at 1.71m, far taller than 1.70m Iniesta.

Of course he's at the same height... But IMO a better aerial threat compared to Iniesta
Also Fab gives a lot of aerial through balls, may be I think so because saw a lot of Arsenal games involving Adeb and Fab and it might only be my illusion. They seem to have some telepathic understanding :P But if it's Xavi and Iniesta in the mid it would all be on the ground as far as I can see.
Or else since we are any way in good terms there seem to be some thing going on Hleb transfer as well, why not play a card and go for Ibra as well :P

BTW my wish list would be like

In :
Maxwell, now that Filipe seems not happening
Ribery
Ibracadabra/Villa
Keirrison
Chygrynskiy
Hernanes
Henrique

Out :
Eto'o - Sure would love to have him forever but after all that happened won't be good for our dressing room atmosphere
Hleb - Same reason as Eto'o
Caceras - Won't be suited for our game I guess :(

Now it's just the same as Pep wanted, 4 signings effectively to improve the side in all areas :)

We can't even pay Zlatan alone, so come back to reality.

We sure can bud... When we are ready to pay 45 for Villa, why not try to use Hleb and make it say 35 + Hleb for Ibra!!!

Hleb is maybe worth 10 for now, so you think Inter will let go Zlatan for 45? Not a chance. But you're allowed to dream.

woo sah said...

well thats because inter want 70+ for ibra homie.
and i promise you hleb is nowhere near 40. LOL.
i'm guessing that since we got maxwell...we'll only be purchasing a CF and MAYBE an AM.

Say if by God's grace we are able to sell Eto'o for 25 and are able to pocket say 20 after giving Eto'o his share as he demands... The available budget would be 20(Eto'o) + 5(Guddy) + 70 that we aleady have available = 95
Maxwell 4.5 + Hernanes 15(it seems) + Chygrynskiy 15+ Keirrison 14 = 50 approximately
That leaves us with 45 + Hleb. We sure can live with out Ribery if we are able to strengthen the mid with Hernanes I guess, since we already have a plan B in the form Ibra against buses of EPL :)

say if by God's grace i won the lottery and didn't have to work for the rest of my life.

and as far as eto'o...it seems no body wants him any more.

Yeah i know... Only I wish this happens :(

To the person that said they hope poulsen breaks his leg tmrw please please please do not post such things online. You only embarass yourself when you say things like that. I would never ever ever wish ill upon another human being. Not Cristiano Ronaldo who i dont care for neither Luis Figo who was arguably the biggest traitor in barca history. What goes around comes around and for you to wish that somebody breaks his leg, i hope it doesnt fall back on yourself or god forbid on FC Barcelona.

koko=barca said...

You are right, I wouldn't like to see him breaking his leg as well, but please please Barca don't buy tat scum Poulsen. We have enough DMC's. We need one creative back-up for Xavi or Iniesta. Damn I am so happy this blog is alive

barca4life said...

Exactly i have no problem with people not wanting him and thats fine, we can debate the merits or demerits of him coming, but to wish injury on somebody and not just a simple injury but a broken leg (something that can end somebody's career) is just a tasteless and classless move. Poulsen did well for sevilla a few years ago from what i have heard. Honestly i would not want us to pay 15 million for him. If we can get him for under 8 i think it would be a pretty good deal

Poulsen didn't do well, he is crap and dirty too. I wouldn't get him even on loan for free. Our youth players who are used to our style and system can slot in for extreme circumstances of injuries and suspensions, not a crap player like Poulsen who will sit in the stands.

poulsen for caceres is madness. an old timer for a young promising defender:hell no!
loaning out hleb is stupid to. he's a good player. or sell or keep or trade.
4m a year for maxwell? he better kept sylvinho! I wonder what alves earns in that case. he's a solid but modest player.good reinforcement but bench at inter so 4m is out of proportion!

villa gets about the same pay in valencia. imagine that.

Maxwell adds VERSATILITY to this squad. He is not just a L/B he can play LM also. He is a very good professional and concentrates very well.

It is going to be a long season. If we don't buy Ribery or Silver I can see Maxwell / Iniesta / Henry and perhaps Gai rotating on the left.

For under $5 million euros (ex-bonuses) we will not get a better buy for an experienced, proven international.

Come on guys we can't have our cake and eat it too. We can't spend over $10 million euro on every position needing reinforcement. It's not monopoly money here. $4 million per year for his salary I would expect would have included 'Incentive clauses and bonuses.' The club isn't stupid.

This is an excellent buy at a fantastic price. Don't forget Van Bronkhurst. He was a fantastic player well into his 30's. The club see Maxwell as a similar kind of player. Give the guy a chance already.
