Barcelona moving for Poulsen

Asked about the rumours linking Juventus midfielder and Danish international Christian Poulsen (29) with a move to Barcelona (read more here), the player's agent Jorn Bonnesen has confirmed in an interview with Danish football site Bold that there have been contacts:

"There has been a request from a Spanish agent linked with Barcelona. He asked whether Christian would be interested in joining Barcelona. You never know what is happening, but Juventus sports director Alessio Seccio has apparently also admitted that there have been contacts with Barcelona.

Our idea for now is that Christian should not be going anywhere. It is only if something very attractive comes up, that we might consider our options. Barcelona would obviously be very attractive, but we have nothing to deal with as yet. At the moment, Christian is 100 per cent focused on Juventus.

He's currently on training camp and in great physical shape since he just set a club record at running three kilometres. He is good enough to play at Juventus and it is now up to him to decide whether he wants to stay and fight for a place but he is a confident player. He has three years left on his contract at Juventus and he's willing to fulfill that."

Now that would be a useless transfer, in my opinion. He's like something between DM and AM, and we have already Keita and Busquets for that. We need a back-up for Xavi and Iniesta, more technical players.

He set a club record by running over three kilometers" it is different doing that with a ball.i think he is worth only 8mil pounds else we chase Hernanes.Anyway is he ready to accept bench role? cos i see Sergio even better than him.I think we should sort out the Villa move before we think of Players of this calibre.IMO he is simply not what we need, although he is quite good.

The problem is that keita and yaya could be gone for 1.5 months for the ACN with hleb and guddy on their way out that leaves

Xavi Iniesta Busquets and Thiago

for a stretch during which we play atletico madrid away as well as getafe and sevilla i believe (not 100% sure about sevilla but we definitely play atletico and getafe).

People speak of marquez but what happens if henrique takes some time to adapt like caceres and pique picks up and injury during for a month in the middle of january. We are left with a shortage of defenders and if xavi or iniesta goes down we would need marquez to fill both the CB and the DM role.

We need an experienced player who can come in and take some of the load of yaya and keita who will have to go to the ACN after having gone to adu dhabi with barca for the Club World Cup mid season following which we will have a backlog of games to catch up with the rest of la liga.

The point is we need more depth in the midfield with guddy and hleb going out

that leaves

Xavi Iniesta Toure Keita Busquets. With the number of games we have to play and Iniesta possibly being called on the play LW at times, we need another proven la liga midfielder. Poulsen was good for sevilla 2 years ago.

Jørn Bonnesen has stated to Danish TV2 that "Barcelona is a tremendously interesting club. It is worth a thought. I have mentioned it to Christian, but for the time being we stay in the world of reality". Bonnesen is also referring to the gap between interest and an actual transfer.

"As a starting point, Christian is happy living in Italy and Juventus. Christian would like to stay and try out his chance".

Sorry for the off topic guys. And a nice welcome back to all.

I just wanted to know how is the possibility for kids from around the world to be accepted at Barca youth academies, keeping in mind that only for trial.

Loan is the best option because we wouldnot be needing him the year after.

go for miguel veloso

domaiski said...

PLease don't sign him, he's not even worth one penny. He's very provocative as a player, and not someone u would associate with a Barca player. We don't need to do a "Gravesen" like Madrid.

wala said...

Yes, let us buy Poulsen purely because Keita and Yaya might be gone for a few weeks (depending on how far their national team do in ACN) and then he gets injured for a month in january, and the whole transfer is completely wasted. Ridiculous.

We are looking for a CD to add to Pique, Henrique, Puyol and Marquez so that we have sufficient backup for RB and DM when needed. I support this decision. And now we have a good LB in Maxwell, it leaves the option of Abidal and Muniesa as CBs as well.

All we need is a fantastic striker and a goalscoring midfielder that can take some pressure off Xavi and Messi. I say Hernanes is right man.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

flamini rumours were also there and i rate him far better than poulsen ... flamini can play as fullback to..!!!

barca nike said...

Barcelona Atletic have signed Villareal C player Luque

Anonymous said...

Why would we buy Flamini when we can buy Hernanes who is better? We don't need a fullback backup.

barca4life said...

Why is it so hard to understand the concept of backup players for some people? We are not buying hernanes for 25 million to put on our bench. Our starting midfield is fine

Xavi Toure Iniesta

Our backups

Busquets/Kieta

need some more depth. That is why we want poulsen. He has played for sevilla in la liga, and was quite good from what i have heard. He is experienced in playing in la liga, he is most likely cheap because juve have just bought melo and have sissoko and therefore does not need him anymore, he is 29 which means he doesnt need to "make his name" and therefore wont most likely demand a great deal of playing time and finally he gives us a sense of security that we have somebody that can take the load off of toure keita iniesta and xavi who quite honestly would need a miracle to play this entire season without getting an injury at some stage.

barca4life said...

I remember last season it was the same thing. Why are we buying keita .....complain complain complain. We should have bought hernanes....complain complain complain.

wala said...

There are reports of Hernanes being available for 10m. He will in no way cost 25m euros and we will not pay that amount. For 10-12m euros, Hernanes is a great buy and will give our midget trio some time off. Hernanes pisses all over Poulsen who has horrific ball control. Watching such a limited player with the Barcelona jersey would be incredibly painful.

Gudjohnsen looks like Maradona compared to Poulsen. Poulsen is about the same age as Hleb and will hardly accept a place in the stands as his quality will force him to sit there.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

@ barca4life
i agree with u regarding backup player but if we can get flamini for cheap why shld we go for poulsen ... flamini is far better than poulsen ..flamini is unhappy in milan due to lack of chances and has been used there as fullback which he doesnt want to play

flamini can play both as attacking and def mid ..!!!

regarding hernanes he is not tested in europe and non european place...but henrique is also good
but flamini will be much more usefull during ANC when toure and keita r gone

wala said...

Flamini is not tested in La Liga either, just like another former Arsenal midfielder Hleb.

Hernanes is far better than Flamini and if he complain about chances in Milan, then he should not go to the team with the best midfield in the world. Hernanes is also more of a goalscorer than Flamini, which is something we lack in midfield.

R10FCB said...

im gonna stick with miguel veloso if we are going to buy a new dm, and if not him than hernanes sounds good to me. just as long as we dont get poulsen.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

hernanes is good if a deal can be done for 9-10m

domaiski said...

I'm from Denmark, and I know everything about Poulsen. Trust me, he's not worth even spending time on. He's a prick on the pitch, sorry for my language, but that's the truth. Remember when Totti spat at him? Totti's reaction didn't just come from nothing, not saying that i agree with what Totti did, but it shows that Poulsen is very provocative on the pitch. Also he punched a player from the swedish national team in the stomach during an international game, which was very important for Denmark. The score was 0-0, and resulted in a penalty for sweden and a red card for Poulsen. Not that it mattered in the end, because som braindead danish fan ran into the pitch afterwards and tried to hit the ref, which caused the ref to cancel the game, and Denmark were judged as losers 0-3. Not Barca material, there must be better options around.

hawk,flamini is no fullback..

he is an attacking midfielder

@barca4life... That's because we don't have a quality replacement for Xavi in our squad. Now I know every body would start on me saying we have Thiago but c'mon accept the fact Thiago is no replacement for xavi in big matches. I hope not but what IF Xavi gets injured? Man we will be doomed. You don't want Xavi to play all 60 odd games that we are gonna, do you? That's one of the reasons we were in for Fab so early in the first place. Of course the political reasons add to that.
But one side of me doesn't want to sign a good mid-fielder like Mountinho or hernanes... And that's because we are gonna be activating our buy-back option on Crosas next season. He's developing into a very fine talent, every body is like Crosas can be the better successot of Xavi than Fab... But you never know. This season is very crucial for us, so what the heck just sign a Hernanes and put him up for sale next season. Sure would be a profit financially as well :P

Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala - We are strikers who defend, we are defenders who attack, we are speed, we are strength, we are effort, we are precision, we are as one... We are Barça

barca4life said...

the problem with flamini and veloso and herananes is will the be willing to sit on the bench for most of the season. And what do we do with them next season when we wont have as packed a schedule because there is not World Cup and No ACN. As for Wala if you think hernanes is available for 10 million then you are living in a fantasy world.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

@ tengkuamir10
ya flamini is center mid player can play both as defensive and attacking mids ... he has been forced to play in milan as a fullback as his early days in arsenal and is not happy abt it ... !!

wala said...

Crosas replacement for Xavi?!? Better than Cesc? Tell us you are joking anon. Marc Crosas will not return, mark my words.

barca4life said...

Uhm if we sign a player for 1 season and then try to sell him we will not make a profit. I agree that if xavi goes down we dont really have a ready made replacement which is why i'm not against us going after fabregas if we plan to move iniesta to the LW on occasion and have a starting midfield of

Xavi Toure Cesc

But for the DM spot i think we need a backup and we need a cheap enough experienced player that can come in and also provide cover for the season. A player like a patrick vieria was my choice for a loan maybe during the january transfer window. Somebody that we can get cheap who is experienced and can come in and do a job for us.

wala said...

Hernanes is versatile and can play on numerous positions and be backup for all three midgets, which will see him getting good playing time. Poulsen however is not even good enough for the bench, and this crap player will not accept a role in the stands for the whole season. Buying a player because he is crap and will accept his role in the stands is not a solution if we want to win the treble again. We need good backup players.

DM1982 said...

Nooooo...why? He is not what Barca needs in any way. I don´t even think that he is Barca-b quality, imho.

Anonymous said...

Hernanes 30 mil pounds
Veloso 30 mil euros

Much money for backup???????

hawk_barca_4_life said...

i agree we need good backup player

fabregas wont be as bad option considering his price coz many times inesta played on LW and was better and cr8 more attacks
fabregas can also play up the field as has been used during the euro when fab xavi and inesta played together

wala said...

B4L: We will sign a CD so that Marquez and Pique are both options at DM. There is no need for Vieira or other has beens. Our youth can step in in extreme circumstances, which is easier for them as they know our system and style, which is especially important for the midfield position.

barca4life said...

Which good player wants to sit on the barca bench for the season before the world cup? We do not want nor need a "big name player" to backup toure and keita. All we need is a decent enough la liga player to replace gudjohnson/hleb as our 6th choice midfielder. We are looking for 4-5 players according to reports

1. LB
2. CB
3. DM
4. LW/AM
5. CF

We have gotten the LB, henrique has come in as a CB to replace caceres and we are looking at maybe another CB. The DM is just a backup role to replace guddy who fills in our midfield. If you tell me you want Hernanes/Moutinho as our AM/LW i will say fine, but why not get Cesc or somebody else who has played in europe already instead of Hernanes.

wala said...

Cesc is too expensive since we are also going to sign a replacement for Eto'o. We need to forget about Cesc. Concentrate on cheaper and realistic alternatives. Hernanes is the choice we should go for. Sao Paulo's horrific start to the season will have reduced his price, just like Keirrison's bad patch did (however, when will he be confirmed as signed?).

barca4life said...

We tried for Hernanes last season and he was too expensive, another year and the price has not gone down. He wants to make the brazillian team for the world cup so he wont want a bench role for us. I dont think its wise to take a player that has never played in europe to put as a starting midfielder for us and i dont think he wants to sit on our bench.

As for Keirrison he will supposedly be confirmed after we sign villa although the way things are going i'm not sure if Villa will join us.

wala said...

His price has definitely gone down from last season. Sao Paulo is more in need of cash and their start to the season has been truly awful. Keirrison's price did go down because of his bad patch.

I am sure Hernanes will be delighted to join the treble champions who play the more beautiful football in the world as a squad player that can play whenever Henry, Xavi, Iniesta or Messi is out, either as direct replacement in the midfield, or moving Iniesta to Henry's or Messi's position.

In fact, I think Pep will be so happy to see goals coming from midfield with Hernanes that he will be a firm favorite of Pep.

Anonymous said...

Keirri didn't come cheap because he had a bad patch... We have been monitoring him for a year now, he himself knowing that included a clause in his contract :)

Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala - We are strikers who defend, we are defenders who attack, we are speed, we are strength, we are effort, we are precision, we are as one... We are Barça

tricampions said...

I don't think he is anywhere near joining us,I mean judging by his agents words he doesn't want to come,he's willing to fulfill his contract. So don't panic.Anyway, I think we need a DM because Keita and Toure will be in africa for a month, that's like 4 weeks, and the only backup we have is Sergio(and maybe guddy).

wala said...

No it did not mister Crosas-better-than-Cesc. :)

barca4life said...

Trust me this isnt football manager of fifa, he hasnt played in spain before, and he hasnt played in the barca system and to think that he could replace messi/iniesta/xavi or henry in his first season is wishful thinking. He wont want to sit on the bench because like I said before its a world cup year and everybody wants to play regular football to have a chance to make the brazil team. And with his team seeing us bid 40 million for villa do you really think his price has gone down? Not to mention AC Milan are interested so that means direct competition and an increased price.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

regarding fabregas he would be best for our midfield with xavi ,inesta ,fabregas rotating for cm
and all can play together then either fab or inesta shifts to lW

but the main prob is do u think arsenal would be ready to sell him (they r also selling adebayor to city which is not still confirmed so no need of cash if he goes)and then again r we ready to spend another 40m on him after villa

wala said...

That is not true, tricampions.

Neither Keita nor Guddy are DMs, and Sergio was not really counted on before the season started last year, yet we had plenty of cover with Yaya, Marquez and Pique. But Sergio impressed Pep so much so that we didn't need Marquez and Pique to cover the DM and Caceres got even less playing time as a result.

wala said...

Well, he is certainly a much better option than Poulsen who would be a laughing stock in the Barca system.

There is always a risk when buying players, that includes Hleb or Petit from Arsenal, or even Henry himself in his first year. But we have 6 competitions to play next season which means plenty of playing time and for that role, we need quality additions. Cesc and a fantastic striker is too much money, so Hernanes will be the best option.

Anonymous said...

Thanks wala for giving me a new SIGNATURE... Obviously Fab is way ahead of Crosas. But just to emphasis on the fact that he is developing into a fine talent had to use the comparison. Oh and BTW some Celtic supporters do believe that he's gonna be better than Fab.
IMO one thing against Fab is he's not such a cool head as Xavi in pressure situations, he seems to let out his frustrations at times. So not exactly a direct replacement :P

Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala - We are strikers who defend, we are defenders who attack, we are speed, we are strength, we are effort, we are precision, we are as one... We are Barça

Iason said...

Achile Emana! He is a very precise passer, has great vision, has a great shot, he can tackle and he runs a lot. He is like a younger version of Marcos Senna and he would be an absolute rob considering he would only cost 5-10m. He can challenge both Xavi and Toure for their place in the starting 11.

wala said...

Emana would be a good option Iason, I agree, but of course not for the holding midfield role, he is not a DM, but for a CM role.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

.p then sankhare, countadeur would be a good optons !!!!

Engineer said...

Emana is a good player, but he's from Cameroon - and you know where decent African players go every other year don't you? Hint: Yaya, Keita and Eto'o are going there next year. :p

Sanur said...

I have a feeling Arsenal are selling Adebayor so they can get the money to buy Eto'o. We should buy Hernanes as he has impressed me alot, I think he is one of those fe South Americans that can come and cut it in Europe immediately, and rumours of him costing 8-10 mill euros...well he is affordable too!

Anonymous said...

If bolton and Aston villa can afford veloso barca can get him.he is not 30millionhe is half that.

B. Beltrocco said...

Very useless we do not need him right now we just need t sign a renewal for eto'o and sign villa as quick as possible. we also needed Mascherano but they tripled his salary he will stay in Liverpool so i think Toure would do fine.

I hope for this line-up:

----------Valdes----------
------Puyol----Pique------
Alves--------------Maxwell

----------Toure----------
---Xavi-----------Iniesta

Messi-----Eto'o-----Villa

Oh BTW new editors can u please reply i f we are going to do the "Guess what Guardiola is thinking again"
where we guessed the formation that was real fun so please reply.

As a Juventus fan I hope that Barca sign Poulsen. But seriously he is not the type of player who would do well at Barca. He is very poor tecnically, a limited passer and gives away a lot of fouls. He does have a pretty good shot and is a decent marker however. He also has experience in playing in an attack minded team in Spain (sevilla). So maybe he would be good at Barca. Probably cant be much worse than he has been at Juve. FORZA JUVE!!!
