Juventus wants Caceres-Poulsen swap

Italian sports paper Tuttosport claims that Juventus wants to swap Juventus midfielder and Danish international Christian Poulsen (29) for Barcelona central defender and Uruguayan international Martín Cáceres (22).

Juventus manager Ciro Ferrara would like to add another central defender to his squad, while a transfer of Poulsen would open the way for another transfer, given the Dane's high wage.

Both players would be valued at 7 million euro°, which could result in a straight swap with no money included.

Hernanes should be our target and he is avalible for 10m, Poulsen is crap

barca4life said...

yeah barca nike that seems to be the best option for me. Either that or Poulsen + 2-3 million would be a decent deal if we value him at 7 million.

Hernanaes for 10m is not true look at what the story says

http://goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/07/15/1384413/ac-milan-target-hernanes-is-available-for-10m-report

Hernanes' reported valuation has fluctuated over the course of the last year as Sao Paulo attempt to hold onto their man, but the news from Brazil is that an offer of only €10 million will be sufficient for the 24-year-old.

An anonymous source close to Hernanes has told the Brazilian daily O Estado de Sao Paulo that "If Milan were to offer €10m for Hernanes today, Sao Paulo would rush to sell him."

An anonymous source close to Hernanes told a Brazilian daily? That is not a credible source

The loan swap would be bloody brilliant! Altho i'm not too fond of Caceres (handling, decisionmaking, lack of calmth) and i always liked Poulsen (From his Schalke-time).

But most people here would disagree.

First search the market if this is te best. It would leave some budget for a winger if the swap deal would go trough

fcbee said...

Sao Paulo can't decide that anyway, I think because they only own a part of the transfer rights. Maybe they mean "10 million for Sao Paulo's part"...

Look at the very post from this site 6th July 2008

http://fcbtransfers.blogspot.com/2009/07/2008-negotiations-on-hernanes-in-last.html

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has made on Tuesday a second offer for São Paulo attacking midfielder and Brazilian international Hernanes (23), who has a buyout clause of 25 million euro°.

A new bid of 15 million euro° would now be on the table. São Paulo would not have accepted the offer although it's expected that -with the player possibly pressuring his club- an agreement could in the end be found for a lower fee, but including several variables. The paper claims that the negotiations are now in the final stage and that a deal could be closed next week.

wala said...

It certainly does not prove that it is not true just because the source isn't the official web page of Sao Paulo.

Poulsen is crap, everybody knows this, and 16.5m for this player is horrific. Caceres style could suit Serie A much better and we could get much better money for him later on with a loan deal. Selling Caceres when his price is rock bottom is very stupid.

barca4life said...

And that deal didnt go through because Sao Paulo wanted more money

Anonymous said...

The name Trezeguet comes to mind. Also juve-player and they don't want him anymore.

+ He played with both Henry & Zlatan. We need a back-up 9 if were to loan out Keirrison.

- we would still need a CM and maybe even a winger in that case + we would lose a defender.

wala said...

Hernanes price is not the same as last season when Sao Paulo weren't in need of cash and the team performed brilliantly. This season it is a whole different ball game.

Neither Keirrison, Zlatan nor Maxwell has been officially presented as a Barcelona player, so we have to wait and see. But if Keirrison doesn't sign, we need more options up front. Bojan as the only proven backup for the front three isn't enough. Hernanes will give Iniesta the chance to play on the wings, and Hernanes can play there too because he is equally good with both feet.

barca4life said...

Uhm if hleb goes to inter it clears up a non-eu spot which would mean keirrison could stay at barca since. Toure has the other one and Henrique would have the final one.

barca4life said...

Well we havent officially signed any but maxwell wala. But maxwell has offcially signed

wala said...

Nobody is talking about non-EU spots here except b4l.

wala said...

No, it is only official when he is officially presented. He hasn't even passed the medical to my knowledge.

barca4life said...

I know wala i'm just saying that with hleb leaving it frees a non-eu spot which means keirrison could stay if we wanted him to.

Btw according to EMD the barca board is going to meet today to approve the deal which could be etoo + 45 + hleb on loan and there is total agreement between inter and barca all that is left is for etoo to accept the contract.

Loan Caceras if there is any possibility of signing Chyhrynskiy or some other decent defender good in air... Or else keep him. After all being a proven defender in La Liga hewasn't up to the level Barca, how can we rely on henrique alone as a young defender. Having 3 young defenders would help not only for present but also will secure our future :)

Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala - We are strikers who defend, we are defenders who attack, we are speed, we are strength, we are effort, we are precision, we are as one... We are Barça

wala said...

I think we need Keirrison even if Zlatan is signed. Pep wanted a bigger squad, and we look likely to ship Hleb and Eto'o out, so three players should replace them, not just Zlatan.

barca4life said...

We already have a few good young defenders in our cantera. I dont know if we really need to buy more. Muniesa and Bolanos (who man utd wanted) come to mind immediately as well as a few from the spanish national yth teams

wala said...

The price for Zlatan is too much. 45m euros as cash part? Where is the negotiating skills?

fcbee said...

It's 'officially announced' by both clubs, wala. Which means it's official and the deal can only break down if something happens at the medical.

Off topic :
Any one in for Luka Modric of tottenham? Would be nice boost for the team. He would an excellent back up for Xavi, Iniesta AND can play in Left Wing as well. Could be available for some thing around 15-20 million since Tottenham are so into offloading some of the players for further signings. Need not sit on bench for long as well he being such versatile talent. IMO if Modric is signed Xavi or Iniesta can get back to DM during ACN season, after all they started as DM for Barca youth team.

Yeah Out

and maybe Gai/Jeffren Thiago and another CB

wala said...

Caceres was proven in La Liga. Hleb was not. They both sucked with us. Whether a player is proven in La Liga or not is not that important, what matters is if the style, skill and ability suits his position in our team and our play.

barca4life said...

Well Considering only city were willing to pay 25 mill for etoo i'd say his value is about 10-15 million (considering he only has 1 year left on his conctract and could walk for free in 1 year) and inter will have to pay barca for hleb if he is to stay so overall barca could pay about 40-45 mill for Ibra which isnt too bad while also getting rid of 2 unhappy players. Thats a pretty decent deal if you ask me.

wala said...

Pep want a bigger squad, so far we are shrinking our squad. Not good. And Pep is not thinking about more youth players from Athletic when he says he wants a bigger squad.

Anonymous said...

Ibra's agent remain tight-lipped when asked about the speculation linking his client with us.
Just accept the fact that we are yet in discussions stage and not signed the player. But one thing's for sure, it's either Ibra or Villa. At least Forlan is no more an option :)

Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala - We are strikers who defend, we are defenders who attack, we are speed, we are strength, we are effort, we are precision, we are as one... We are Barça

Whoops i forgot Henrique from players in

Out

Guddy
Hleb
Etoo
Sylvinho
Caceres

In

Maxwell
Poulsen
Ibra
Henrique
Keirrison
Gai/Jeffren
Thiago

Cesc/Ribery?

wala said...

It is too much. It is 60m euros and we should never have gotten us into a situation where we have to value Eto'o at only 15m euros in the first place. The price is also too much since Zlatan is not that happy at Inter either.

Hleb needs to be replaced.

barca4life said...

therefore the squad could be

Valdes Pinto Jorquera

Dani Puyol Pique Marquez Henrique Maxwell Abidal + 1 CB + (maybe Milito)

Xavi Iniesta Toure Keita Sergi
Poulsen + maybe thiago

Messi Ibra Henry Bojan Keirrison Gai/jeffren

That makes about 25 Milito may be on his way out though.

barca4life said...

Agreed that the etoo situation is bad, but when would you have renewed etoo? Remember the offseason last year was 2 trophyless years and our team was in disarray. We tried to sell etoo but he didnt want to leave and nobody wanted to pay the price for him. We tried to renew during the season and etoo kept saying he would discuss during the off-season.

wala said...

Having proper backup for Xavi and Iniesta is crucial for our play, as they are the heart and brain of our style, and now that we are on our way to get rid of Hleb, it is even more important. Xavi has played 5 million minutes in the last year, and Iniesta is slightly injury prone. Hell, we even lack a proper backup for Messi if he is out for a couple of months. I am sure this is what Pep is talking about when he says he wants a bigger squad for next season than what we had.

barca nike said...

the season will start and we have already played in two cups the Spanish Super Cup (2 matches)and the UEFA Super Cup (1 match) so we will go into the season with 4 cups the (league CCL and the Cup), a for the Club World Cup we will only play 2 or three matches so we dont need a very big squad. I think we should keep the same number of players as last season.

wala said...

I am sure there is too much bad blood with Eto'o and certain people in our board, causing alot of frustration, which has contributed strongly to the situation we have put ourselves in.

groga said...

"the season will start and we have already played in two cups the Spanish Super Cup (2 matches)and the UEFA Super Cup (1 match) so we will go into the season with 4 cups the (league CCL and the Cup)"

The two Super Cups are PART of the season. The season starts then. We'll have more games in less time because the season ends earlier (World Cup). Last season we were extremely lucky with injuries, you can't hope to be as lucky again, so I understand why Guardiola has asked for a larger squad.

barca4life said...

Well we are going to bring in a few more. Who can really replace messi xavi and iniesta in any case? You cant have somebody of xavi or messi's quality just sitting on the bench because they wont be happy. I think we will sign another CM before the season starts. Cesc possibly. Laporta wants to leave this team as his legacy by getting in good young players

Pique Muniesa Iniesta Yaya Messi Bojan Keirrison Busquets will in all likelihood outlast the next barca president and if he manages to bring in cesc it well definitely be "Laporta's team" no matter what the next president does

If Barca and Inter agree on a deal Ibra will be with Barca on Monday according to Elmundo Deportivo

Manolo said...

We need 5 or 6 centrebacks cant u guys understand that!?!?

Marquez,Puyol,Pique is 100% here.
Milito is injured and how long will he be gone?
Sen Cáceres on a loan and brin Henrique back.

With Henrique we have 5 centrebacks and one of them is injured and one of them have to cover Abidals place sometimes.

I dont know if 6 is needed cuz Abidal can step in to the centre if needed and we can also bring Muniesa up to the A squad..

If we though buy a centreback, we should go for Chygi.

NO way Paulsen will fit in our squad, I do rather have Caceres at the midfield than that guy.
Caceres CAN develop and be one of the best centrebacks in the world and Paulsen cant develop no more.
Just trash

barca nike said...

Manolo, Maxwell will cover Abidal's place

LeónDragón said...

to see poulsen and barca in one sentence makes me sick

wala said...

Of course we can't have Messi quality type players on the bench as backup for him, but there is a clear lack of alternatives and backups for our midget three, this was a big reason why we bought Hleb in the first place although he sucked with us he was very good at Arsenal. Players like Jeffren and Pedro just doesn't cut it. Cesc would be fantastic, but we have already paid huge amounts for Zlatan according to rumours. If we can lower it to 30m plus Eto'o, then maybe Cesc is possible too. But 45m cash plus Cesc (probably 40m) plus Keirrison (13-15m) plus Maxwell (4.5m) is not possible.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe what i am reading, everybody is trashing Poulsen because he has had one bad season with injuries and a mediocre Juve. Has everyone forgotten, that he was voted one of the best buys in la liga, when he intially was bought by Sevilla from Schalke? And he was an important player in sevillas second UEFA CUP victory? He is actually a solid good DM, not world class but solid. Further more in the Danish national team they play a system quite similar to Barcelona, where Poulsen is a sure to be included in the starting line up.

barca4life said...

Well we dont know what laporta has up his sleeve. Moutinho and Hernanes are other cheaper alternatives that we could look at, if we plan to move iniesta to LW

wala said...

I think Manolo meant that the center back have to cover Alves' position sometimes (Puyol/Henrique).

If Maxwell deal goes through, our two next priorites should be striker and replacement for Hleb (backup for our midget 3). Then it should be Keirrison, and finally if possible a new central defender, but it might be enough until Milito is ready. If Milito is not ready even in january, we can buy a cheap central defender then maybe which can be good when Yaya is away and we might need Marquez or Pique to play the DM. But if Milito has recovered in time for the ANC, then we have enough backups for Marquez and Pique to play at the DM (of course Busquets as first option).

jordy said...

loaning ok, but transfer swapping is very stupid!

groga said...

"We need 5 or 6 centrebacks cant u guys understand that!?!?"

No, I can't. Why would a team need four first-class back-ups for two positions, while we for example don't have even one "natural" back-up for Alves or Xavi-Iniesta or Henry or Messi. Which teams has better options at centre-back than us?

Puyol, Piqué, Marquez, Henrique, (Milito), (Caceres), (Botia), Muniesa, Touré, Abidal.

There are other priorities.

Analysis(correct me if i'm wrong) :

As of now Barca didn't confirm that they have signed Maxwell, they only mentioned negotiations are undergoing. Even Moratti confirmed the same saying Laporta has been here to discuss the deals for Maxwell & Hleb transfers and Laporta also discussed on Ibra & Eto'o. So, maxwell isn't signed yet.
IMO 40+Eto'o+Hleb(on loan) that sport is quoting might be for Ibra+Maxwell. Sounds decent as we are offloading two players who are no more in our plans and are getting a good LB and a great striker :)
Only 2 scenarios are possible now. 1) Getting Maxwell and Ibra
2) Getting Felipe and Villa
1) 40+Eto'o+Hleb. Considering Hleb had been a definite starter for one of the top clubs in Europe till very recent. He would definitely like to prove he's no shit. The fact that we have World cup next summer only adds to that. If he really is able to get back to his previous form Inter might buy him permanently and I'm sure barca would agree to that only if the transfer fee would be around 10 million. So Ibra+Maxwell come approximately for 30+Eto'o which is like 55 million if Eto'o is valued 25. Sounds like a nice move for me. And if Hleb fails miserably again like he did this year the nthe deal costs us 40+Eto'o and we will be getting our Hleb back who would be worth just around 5million by then. So it's almost like 35+Eto'o = Ibra + maxwell... still fair enough for me :)

2) I'm sure if the above deal is off we would be getting Filipe and Villa. Villa gonna be 45 million. Filipe say 12. And we need to pay Eto'o his wages for next year which would be like 7.5 million and that too Eto'o would be confined to the bench since we are surely gonna buy Villa. So that costs us around 45+12+7.5 = 65 approx.

So in first case the deal gonna cost 55million(if Hleb shines) or 60million(if Hleb fails) for a LB and a striker. In the second case it's gonna cost us 65million. But the added advantage of the second deal is we are getting a nice talent in the form of Filipe and we are still able to keep Hleb.

I would rather the first choice because it's obvious Ibra is definitely ahead of Eto'o technically and Hleb just a fringe player in our squad. Even if it fails I'll be very happy we are getting Filipe. I'm more looking forward to filipe than Villa in case deal of Ibra fails :)

Are you kidding me? We'd swap our 22 year old for a 29 year old? RIGHT!

Anonymous said...

Yeah exactly. We're only bringing in Poulsen has a sub.

Both Poulsen are worth 7 million now ability wise but Poulsen's value can only go down while Caceres' value cannot go any lower. In a year Poulsen will be 30 and worth 4 million while Caceres might still be worth 7-8 million or he could be worth 20 million.

We need to get way better value for this swap. Juvey has to pay us some cash too or just loan moves.
