Messi has very good image in Spain

An extensive survey by international sports talent and marketing agency IMG, quoted by Catalan sports paper Sport, has shown that Barcelona player Lionel Messi is the international (non-Spanish) football player who has the best image in Spain.

IMG interviewed sport fans in Madrid and Barcelona. Messi finishes clearly as number one, before David Beckham, Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Zinédine Zidane and Thierry Henry.

In the ranking of international athletes, Messi finishes second behind tennis player Roger Federer and ahead of David Beckham, former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher and golfer Tiger Woods. Barcelona players Carles Puyol and Xavi are among the ten Spanish athletes with the best image, a list that is been headed by tennis player Rafael Nadal, Formula One driver Fernando Alonso and basketball player Pau Gasol.

These surveys and their results are pretty interesting. It's always intriguing to find out who is popular and where.

messi is obviously a player with a very clean image. he doesnt dive, doesnt showboat and doesnt even overestimate his own abilities in public like ronaldo. hes always quick to praise the team. so, its no surprise really
