Marseille goalkeeper Mandanda on shortlist

French football weekly paper Foot Transferts claims that Barcelona is interested in Marseille goalkeeper and French international Steve Mandanda (24) (read more here).

A Barcelona scout would have recently watched Mandanda in action. The report was positive and Barcelona would already have informed the player's entourage about their interest. Barcelona executives are expected to contact the French club shortly to hear more about the contract situation of the goalkeeper.

Mandanda would be part of a five-name shortlist of possible substitutes of Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés that also includes Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon (31), Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez (27), Fiorentina goalkeeper Sébastien Frey (29) and Valladolid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo (19).

He's French national goalkeeper, so he should have something. Although it has to been said that the French (just like the Englishmen) have an absolutely terrible record of goalkeepers.

Buffon made some strange statments yesterday that he was no longer the best in the world. Maybe juve will consider selling him as the fans dont seem to happy with him.A change of scenery would be good for him and a duel with casillas could be what he needs to bring back out the best in him.

i would prefer asenjo or frey, cuz their cheap and is good for a back up and maybe they can rotate w/ valdes.
but this rumor is really annoying..
french paper = madanda.
english paper= cech
italian paper = frey, buffon
spain = diego lopez, asenjo, etc
what next?
russian = akinfeev
hell maybe the dutch paper = stekelenburg or somebody else..

Well, I guess a French paper has the best connections with the French clubs and players, so it's kind of normal that -if this is true- they would know it first.

What about Kameni?

he's excellent and will be a free transfer.

I'm sure he'd like towin trophies in Spain for all the years he's been there for.

plus he said ain an interview a while back that he wouldn't mind playing for Barca...
