Barcelona keeping the Bruno Alves option open

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is still keeping an eye on Porto central defender and Portuguese international Bruno Alves (27) (read more here).

Depending on the recovery of the knee injury of Barcelona central defender Gabriel Milito (28) and on the decision on Brazilian central defender Henrique (22), who is playing on loan with German club Bayer Leverkusen and who could return from loan at the end of this season, Barcelona will later in the summer make the decision on signing Bruno Alves or not.

our defence is quite solid, but this year we have been struggling with quite alot of injuries in the back. next year we will have puyol, pique, milito, marquez, caceres, henrique only for the cb position

my choice would be puyol, pique, milito, henrique, muniesa for cbs .sell marquez and loan caceres out or else we will have too many big names and you wont avoid complains about not playing

also for left back keep abidal sell sylvinho and buy another one(lahm my choice)and muniesa will cover as 3rd if we are unlucky

for right back we have dani alves and henrique(played alot of games as rb)and puyol can cover.

the thing is we shouldnt have too many big names ,releasing marquez or milito is essential to me,i choose marquez because he is not the player he was 2 years ago and i dont think milito will be sold after that injury

on bruno alves i would love him to come if one of marquez and milito is sold ,he is a very solid defender and i can see him doing a great partnership with both pique and puyol.this year milito was out from the start of the season and playing time was ok for all defenders,i think next year we should have the same number of defenders as we do now, however we should give the kid a chance,i sence another puyol in our team ......

Barça have Muniesa, Henrique, Caceres, Puyol, and Pique next year. Muniesa and Puyol are a little injury prone, though. Perhaps that's why Pep still has the Bruno Alves option.

when i saw the goal from rooney vs. porto that season and what a fucking pass bruno alves did, than i say: no thank you.

wihtout his mistake, manu would be out from the cl.

...would not like to see bruno alves at barca...don't like his play...think he's very overrated and too prizey for what he offers...don't forgot his deadly, dumb mistake against manu...you can say that this can happen...i say no...never saw such a bad thing from any other defender with a prize like him...he seems to be a dumbhead footballer...he's nor 20 to make such mistakes...we have marquez, caceres,or in the past abelardo,de boer or others with mistakes like this...don't think that we need those anymore...before spending so much on him, vidic or milito or a youth player could be better options...

no more defenders transfers, man...

We should only get David Santon to replace Sylvinho and Tevez to replace Eto'o.

Why Santon and not Taiwo and Dzeko?

Yeah, but Henrique, Caceres and Muniesa are still not good enough (imo, Caceres was overpriced and not good enough - a bad transfer). Muniesa made his debut this weekend and I don't think he will be ready untill 2012 season and Caceres is maybe never going to be ready for Barca. Also, Marquez is a very intelligent player with perfect crosses, but he is not always 100% on the defensive side (neither is Puyol). That is why we need another worldclass CB. And Barca nerd-fan, Santon is RB not LB - and yes, he is an awesome player. And Tevez? Maybe for the left wing if we don't get Silva or Ribery, not CF imo. But Tevez seems to have a very good work rate and a big heart. But I rather see Ribery, Pato, Silva or even Lavezzi on the left wing.

ZenI, you are truly crazy when you say Muniesa won't be ready for at least 3 more years. Muniesa will be ready next season whether you like it or not. Henrique will be a good backup for the CD and RB positions, no question about that. Then there is Milito coming back and being a backup for our Catalan superduo Pique and Puyol. Marquez and Milito are good enough as backup, no doubt. Muniesa and Abidal slots in at LB, with Muniesa also able to fill the CD role when needed. All we need is a big forward with muscle and power and instruct Yaya and Keita to shoot more from distance. Perhaps another leftwinger, but only perhaps.

For the record, Davide Santon is a LEFT BACK.
He will not leave Inter though. He will be there for many years to come and will be both Inter and Italy's left back for the next decade

Davide Santon is a right footed player that plays at LB like Philip Lahm. He has been playing at RB recently though because Maicon got injured with Maxwell finding his place in the team once more.

Santon hasn't found his feet at right back recently. I think Muniesa is better. Muniesa is one year younger as well. He could take over for Abidal perhaps already this season.
