Fiorentina goalkeeper Frey has been offered

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Fiorentina goalkeeper Sébastien Frey (29) has been offered to Barcelona.

Frey’s contract at the Italian club expires at the end of this season and Giovanni Branchini, the player’s agent, has informed Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain about the situation of the Frenchman. Branchini and Begiristain would have a good relationship since the transfer of Albertini to Barcelona in January of the year 2005.

Does this mean we can get him for free in the summer? I thought his contract expired at the end of next summer. Anyhow he could be an excellent 'cheap' option with all the quality.

No, no, no. I can guarantee that Valdes is doing a better job.

Frey makes easy mistakes all the time, especially in the big games, he have never convinced anyone when he played for France and there is a reason that he's not at a bigger club.

If we were to sign a goalkeeper we either need a keeper that's better then Valdes (Casillas, Buffon) or a keeper that can be better in the future (Asenjo, De Gea).
