All parties involved deny deal on Keirrison

Asked about the rumours about a principal agreement on the transfer of Palmeiras forward Keirrison to Barcelona (read more here), the player's agent Marcos Malaquias denied the rumour in an interview with Brazilian sports site Globo Esporte:

"I talked informally with Barcelona sports director Begiristain on Tuesday. We have an excellent relationship because Barcelona recently contracted Henrique, who's also one of my players.

But he didn't made any proposal for Keirrison. We know that it'ss a player who's being watched by a lot of clubs, but until now there's nothing official.

We have a project for Keirrison, we want him to stay until the middle of next year. But it is clear that we cannot say that things won't change. Because some of those clubs, when they want a player, they just come and take him with them. But at this moment, there's not much to tell."

Malaquias also commented on the issue in an interview with Brazilian sports site UOL Esporte: "Barcelona really showed interest but didn't yet start any negotiations with the player. It's obvious that all eyes are on him. Who would not want to have Keirrison in his team?

But it was only an informal meeting and there was no proposal. In principle, we want Keirrison to stay at Palmeiras at least until the end of the year. But if a European top club would make a very good proposal, that could change. We know that anything can happen in football, but the player will have the final word."

Jose Hawilla, chairman of sports marketing agency Traffic that owns the player's transfer rights for the next four years, said in an interview with Brazilian radio station Rádio Record that a transfer is not an option at this moment:

"Keirrison hasn't been offered and the plan is that he stays. He's not for sale. Directors can come from Spain or Italy, but no one will be able to prevent this. Those directors are here the whole time. Last week, we had four of them from Germany who came and watched some games. But Keirrison is simply not for sale."

Barcelona president Joan Laporta also denied to journalists that a deal has already been closed: "We're of course talking with several players who could join us in the future but there's no transfer for next season finalized. Relating to Keirrison, there's nothing agreed yet. If this would be the case, we would know it. Txiki is doing his job, he's holding talks, but there's nothing more to say at this moment."

Keirrison meanwhile told journalists that he's focusing on his club: "I don't think about this, I leave that for my agents. My head is only focused on Palmeiras. But I know that in July, when the transfer window will open, the speculations will start again."

Keirrison will sign contract tomorrow

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) will sign tomorrow a five-year contract with Barcelona.

Last Thursday, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona director of football Raúl Sanllehí met with André Cury, a representative of Brazilian player's agency Traffic that owns 80 per cent of the transfer rights of the player, the other 20 per cent being in the possession of Palmeiras. Traffic chairman Júlio Mariz also took part in the meeting.

The negotiations are then said to be well-advanced, a pre-agreement would have been reached. Cury says: "We're optimistic regarding a deal. As we are concerned, we now have a pre-agreement that we hope to finalize on Tuesday." Barcelona would already have had before agreed on an option on the player that expired on 30 June.

On Friday, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain had a lunch with Marcos Malaquias, one of the player's agents Marcos Malaquias in a Barcelona restaurant to negotiate on the player's contract. In the afternoon, Malaquias and Mariz met with Barcelona officials at the club's offices.

Naor Malaquias, the other agent of Keirrison confirmed the talks: "My brother and a Traffic director are in Barcelona to take part in the negotiations. I don't know anything about possible fees yet." Marcos Malaquias said after the meeting that a deal was very close: "There are only a few details missing before it's official."

It was then decided that Keirrison wouldn't train or play anymore with Palmeiras. The Brazilian striker travelled the same day to his home-town Keirrison, where he was getting ready to fly to Barcelona. Palmeiras put out a statement confirming a formal offer by Barcelona, Keirrison did the same (read more here). Barcelona president Joan Laporta says the next day that they're on the verge of finalizing the deal.

Despite having more than four years left on his contract, Keirrison can leave Palmeiras without an extra fee. When he signed his contract earlier this year, a clause was inserted that allowed him to move at any moment to Barcelona, his favourite club since childhood (read more here). Sport claims that Keirrison also insisted that in his contract with Traffic a buyout clause would be included saying that he could leave to Barcelona for 15 million euro°. For other clubs, the buyout clause would be 50 million euro.

Other sources mention other figures regarding the agreed transfer fee: "13 million plus 3 million in incentives" (tv3), "around 14 million euro" (el periódico), "around 15 million euro" (globo esporte), "16 million euro" (lance). Keirrison, who also rejected an offer by Real Madrid in January, will most likely be included, on loan or permanently, in a transfer deal on Villa or (more unlikely) on Forlán or Bruno Alves.

Barcelona in pole position for Keirrison

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is interested in Coritiba forward and Brazilian youth international Keirrison de Souza Carneiro (19) (read more here).

Barcelona's good relations with Brazilian sport marketing agency Traffic could bring the striker to Barcelona in the future.

The paper also claims that Keirrison is on a ten men short-list of former Barcelona sports vice president Sandro Rosell who will take part in the presidential elections of 2010. Keirrison would be one of the players Rosell will promise to bring to Barcelona if he's chosen as the new president.

Based on reports in Brazilian news paper Lance and Brazilian sports site Globo Esporte, the situation today is that sports marketing agency Mais Sports of the brothers Naor and Marcos Malaquias has yesterday sold 80 per cent of the transfer rights of Keirrison to sports marketing agency Traffic. Mais Sports keeps on representing Keirrison and will have a part of the future transfer fee.

The other 20 per cent are owned by Brazilian first division club Coritiba. Because Keirrison's contract with the club expires next April, Coritiba prefers to sell their share now. Traffic wants to buy the 20 per cent and then transfer the player to local fourth division club Desportivo Brasil, that is owned by Traffic.

Desportivo Brasil would then loan the player out to Brazilian first division club Palmeiras. Keirrison would join Palmeiras in January in order to gain more experience before he makes the move to Europe in the coming years.

Final meeting on Keirrison on Tuesday

Catalan radio station RAC 1 claims that Barcelona will hold next Tuesday a final meeting on the transfer of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20).

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is then expected to meet with the Brazilian's agents and with the persons who own the transfer rights of Keirrison, who would join Barcelona in a 14 million euro° deal.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that there's a total deal with the player and with the sports marketing agency that controls the majority of his transfer rights. The deal would nevertheless only be officially announced once there's an agreement on the transfer of Valencia forward Villa (read more here).

The paper claims that Keirrison wil sign a four-year deal and that the transfer fee that has been agreed would be 10 million euro°. Madrid sports tabloid Marca meanwhile claims that Keirrison has already accepted to join Valencia on loan next season if that's what Barcelona would want.

Transfer of Keirrison to be closed in next hours

Both main Catalan sports papers claim that Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) will sign for Barcelona in the coming hours.

The club and the player's representatives would be finalizing the last details of the deal.

André Cury, a representative of Traffic, the agency that owns the majority of the transfer rights of the Brazilian player, would meet with Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain today. Cury confirmed yesterday in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that there were only some minor issues left to discuss: "Seventy per cent is done. Now there are just some details lacking."

Catalan sports paper Sport claimls that Barcelona will pay a transfer fee of 13 million euro° plus at the most another 2 million euro in incentives. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona would pay 13 or 14 million euro°, while Villarreal would at the end of last year have offered 8 million euro for 50 per cent of the transfer rights of Keirrison, who has now been pressuring to join Barcelona.

It's not yet clear what will happen with Keirrison although it is generally believed that he will leave on a one-year loan. Barcelona would like to include the player in the transfer deal on Valencia forward Villa. While Sport claims that Valencia is not really interested in Keirrison and only wants him as a back-up, El Mundo Deportivo claims that Valencia manager Unai Emery would prefer Keirrison over Bojan.

Barcelona met with Keirrison last week

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) met personally with Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona board member Albert Perrín last week (read more here).

Over the last months, the Brazilian striker would already have had several personal contacts with Barcelona scout Pepe Costa.

The Brazilian striker wants to join Barcelona and would have told people from his entourage that the presence of Eto'o and Henry is a good thing because they would make it possible for him to grow tactically and physically without too much pressure.

Keirrison has a contract with Traffic until 30 June 2013, including a buyout clause of 50 million euro°. Traffic owns eighty per cent of his transfer rights, while Palmeiras owns the other twenty per cent. If Barcelona signs him in the summer, Keirrison would not leave on loan.

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Traffic wants to keep the player at Palmeiras until the World Cup in 2010 because that way Keirrison would have more possibilities to be part of the Brazilian squad. A source at the sports marketing agency is quoted as saying: "He won't leave Brazil until he has exhausted all his chances to go to the World cup."

Asked about his teammate, former Barcelona player José Edmílson meanwhile described Keirrison as follows in an interview with Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo: "He's a goalscorer. It's not a fantasy player but if he has three or four chances, he'll surely score one. It's a box player.

For me, he's similar to Batistuta. He's very good with the head and he's fast. In Brazil, you won't find a second player like him, so it would be a good transfer for Barcelona. I think he's prepared to deal with the pressure at Barça, although I'd recommend that he stays with us for another year to keep on growing."

Principal agreement with Keirrison

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has reached a principal agreement on the transfer of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) (read more here).

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain, who was in Brazil this week, would have closed the deal during his trip. Begiristain and Barcelona scout Pepe Costa watched Keirrison last Tuesday during a Brazilian league game (read more here).

The transfer fee for Keirrison, who is also followed by Liverpool, Real Madrid and Valencia, would be 15 million euro°, although Barcelona wants to lower the fee and include some incentives. It has been agreed that the negotiations will be reopened at the end of the season.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that the player's agency Traffic owns eighty per cent of Keirrison's transfer rights, while the other twenty per cent belong to Palmeiras.

Monaco and Sporting join Keirrison loan race

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that more and more clubs want to sign Barcelona forward Keirrison (20) on loan.

The Brazilian striker and his agents would now want to take some time to more profoundly study the options that are on the table and to decide calmly where Keirrison will play next season.

The entourage of the player would have informed the paper that at this moment French league club Monaco has shown to be the most interested. The club would already have asked Barcelona the permission to start negotiations on the transfer and talks would be ongoing. There would also be contacts with Portuguese clubs Benfica and Sporting. Dutch club Ajax would also be among the candidates.

Portuguese champions Porto, who were also linked with the striker after declarations by one of his agents (read more here), meanwhile denied the interest in a statement on their official website saying that they are not at all interested in Keirrison.

Asked about the destination of Keirrison, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain told the club's official media yesterday after the signing of the player's five-year contract that the club will soon make a decision: "There are a lot of clubs interested, now we have to make the right choice and make sure he can develop well so he can return to Barça."

Asked about the situation of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) (read more here), the player's agent Marcos Malaquias has confirmed in an interview with Brazilian sports paper Lance that the transfer has almost been completed:

"The contract is ready, but it will only be singed next Friday, after the medical exams that will take place next week. I am very happy for Keirrison that he will be able to join Barcelona and continue his career in Europe."

Possible deal on Brazilian striker Keirrison

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona could have reached an agreement on the transfer of Coritiba forward and Brazilian youth international Keirrison de Souza Carneiro (19).

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would have met in Buenos Aires, Argentinia with the agents of the Brazilian striker, who has sixth months left on his Coritiba contract.

A transfer price of 13 million euro° would have been agreed upon. The fee will be split between Brazilian first division club Coritiba and the agents and owners of the player.

The paper also mentions another rumour that says that it is in fact an intermediary, appointed by Barcelona, who would have reached an agreement signed by all parties concerned, including Keirrison.

Keirrison is represented by the same agents as Barcelona central defender Henrique (21) and like in the case of Henrique, who plays on loan with Bayer Leverkusen this season after he joined Barcelona last summer (read more here), Keirrison could immediately leave on loan.

Asked about the rumours, Marcos Malaquias, one of the agents of Keirrison, denied the deal and indicated that he plans to travel to Spain next week to negotiate with Valencia.

Roma also interested in Keirrison loan

Italian sports site Sportal claims that AS Roma is also interested in a loan of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20), who is expected to sign with Barcelona later today.

Barcelona has announced they want the Brazilian striker to leave on loan next season and Roma, that could offer the striker playing time in a top league, would hope that they can sign Keirrison due to the good relationships between the clubs.

Portuguese sports paper A Bola claims, based upon statements of the player's agent Naor Malaquias in the Brazilian press, that Roma is, besides Benfica, a possible destination for Keirrison.

1 - He was born as Keirrison de Souza Carneiro on December 3,1988 in Dourados, Brazil to former footballer father Adir, and mother Alzira.

2 - He was named Keirrison as a tribute to musician Jim Morrison of The Doors (he has an older brother Kimarrison). It became somewhat of a controversy within the family but his father was adamant: "No Joseph or John, his name will be Keirrison. It is best noted because I will not repeat it." He would later on admit he wrote down his son's name so he wouldn't forget.

3 - He and his father Adir own a football club and training centre called Centro de Futebol Keirrison (CFK-9). Based in Campo Grande, the club trains young talents and competes in state championships. Adir used to coach Brazilian club Centro Esportivo Nova Esperança (CENE) where Keirrison played as a youth player.

4 - Palmeiras team mate and former Barcelona player Edmilson compares him to Valencia player Fernando Morientes: "He would be a player like Morientes in good form, with more shooting and a bit more speed and acceleration. Barcelona looking for a club for Keirrison

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is looking for a club for Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20).

The deal on the transfer would have been closed, although not yet officially announced, and Barcelona wants the player to leave on loan for one season to gain experience and then return to Barcelona next year.

Barcelona's first option was to try to include the Brazilian striker in transfer deals with Valencia (Villa), Atlético Madrid (Forlán) or Porto (Bruno Alves), but with the transfer of Ibrahimovic close and the possible stay of Henrique, this now seem less likely.

Barcelona is still looking to sign a midfielder and could try to offer Keirrison in that deal. If that doesn't go through either, the club wants to send him out on loan to a Spanish club, something Keirrison would personally prefer, or to another European club that will take part in the Champions League or the Uefa Cup and will give the striker playing time. Atlético Madrid would still be intrested in keirrison.

Porto, Ajax and Germany also options for Keirrison

Brazilian sports site Globo Esporte claims that the agents of Barcelona forward Keirrison (20) are analyzing the last offers for the player.

The Malaquias brothers would travel today to Portugal to start negotiating with Portuguese champions Porto. They could also meet with officials of Benfica, that would also be interested.

Asked about the upcoming loan, agent Marcos Malaquias said in an interview with the site that a decision can be expected at the beginning of next week: "Porto and Ajax have the best chances at this moment but nothing has been decided yet. There's a lot of talk here in Spain that Benfica would already have signed him, but there's no truth in that. After Barça made public that he will leave on loan, a lot of clubs have shown interest. We'll make a decision on Monday or Tuesday."

Portuguese sports paper O Jogo meanwhile claims that Benfica is no longer interested in Keirrison. Asked about the rumours, agent Naor Malaquias nevertheless told the paper that the Portuguese club is still among the candidates: "Benfica is one of the potential candidates to sign the player, like are Roma, Ajax and a German club."

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is closely monitoring the Brazilian transfer market.

The club would at this moment be most interested in Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) and Santos forward and Brazilian youth international Neymar (17 – picture).

Both players would have been scouted several times by Barcelona head scout Pepe Costa. Barcelona sports director Txiki Begristain was yesterday invited by Traffic, Keirrison’s player's agency, to assist a Brazilian league game between Palmeiras and Bragantino (read more here).

Laporta defends Henrique and Keirrison transfers

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has defended in an interview with Catalan television channel TV3 the transfers of Brazilian players Henrique and Keirrison:

"We're a global club and I don't think anyone can say that we are neglecting the youth academy just because we have signed players like Henrique or Keirrison. Our scouts are looking everywhere for players who could be useful for us in the future.

Henrique was signed after hard work by the technical department. He was last season one of the best defender in the German league and a lot of clubs have asked us to sign him on loan, while half of Europe wanted Keirrison. We sent him out on loan because we think that's the best for him now."

Palmeiras and Keirrison confirm Barcelona interest

Everything seems to indicate that Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) will join Barcelona in the coming days (read more here).

Brazilian club Palmeiras yesterday announced in an official statement that Barcelona has made a concrete bid for the player on Friday morning. Although the negotiations are still ongoing, Keirrison won't take part in this weekend's leage game against Santos and won't return to action until his situation is clear.

The player confirmed in a statement on his official website yesterday that he won't play with Palmeiras on Sunday because of the concrete and formal interest of Barcelona to sign him. As long as the negotiations with Barcelona are ongoing, the player will train on his own.

Palmeiras manager Wanderlei Luxemburg has meanwhile been dismissed, supposedly because he had been talking about the negotiations on his blog and had said on his twitter account that Keirrison wouldn't play anymore for Palmeiras, even if the transfer to Barcelona in the end wouldn't go through.

Keirrison debuts for Benfica

Keirrison made his Benfica debut this past Sunday during Benfica's 1-0 win against Guimaraes.

Coming off the bench at half time for Saviola, Keirrison gave everyone a scare after twisting his ankle while chasing a ball two minutes into the second half. Momentarily limping, Keirrison was able to walk it off and subsequently recuperated.

It wasn't a very good game for Benfica overall, and Keirrison's entrance into the game didn't really bring much to Benfica's attacking front. The young Brazilian got very little touches on the ball, showing himself too static and too easy of a target for the Guimaraes defense, but the blame can't all go to him, as Benfica struggled to get the ball to the the forward's feet.

Benfica, who struggled throughout the game, played against 10 men for most of the second half, but could not get anything going, even missing a penalty. They would eventually get the winner at the 90th minute, courtesy of Ramires, Benfica's most expensive signing of the season.

Keirrison's debut didn't have the results he might have envisioned, and quite honestly, not what many fans expected from a 15 million acquisition, but it also can't be seen as a negative one. Surely after making his debut, he must feel encouraged to continue to work hard to deserve more opportunities.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona and all parties involved have reached an agreement on the transfer of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) (read more here).

Barcelona and Palmeiras would nevertheless have decided to postpone the official announcement of the deal until the end of this week to get more media coverage.

Keirrison, who isn't training or playing with his team since last Friday (read more here), is expected to travel to Barcelona on Monday 13 July. After the medical tests, the Brazilian striker would sign a four-year contract. It's not yet clear if he will afterwards be officially presented at a press conference, something that will depend on the player going on loan or not (read more here).

Catalan radio station RAC 1 claims that Barcelona could try to include Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) in the transfer of Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (28).

Barcelona would have a first option on the Brazilian striker and would be considering to sign the player to include him afterwards in the deal on Villa. Valencia would nevertheless not be interested in the player.

Asked about the rumours, Palmeiras sports director Toninho Cecílio said in an interview with Brazilian sports paper Lance that a transfer is not an option at the moment: "We shouldn't be answering this type of questions the whole time. We know how to deal with this, we know that is normal because he's a very good player, but the club wants to win trophies and the sale of Keirrison isn't an issue for now. He has signed for four years and we plan to keep him. We will only sell when the club and his agency think it's a good deal. Our president Belluzzo has to sign too and that's not close to happen at this moment."
