Catalan sports paper Sport claims that, although the transfer of São Paulo attacking midfielder and Brazilian international Hernanes (23) has been excluded for this transfer period (read more here), Barcelona stays very interested in the player.

Despite the interest of Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, the contacts with the player and his agency over the last months have put Barcelona in pole position to sign Hernanes in the future.

25 million euro =
39 million us dollar
20 million british pound
He'll be a year older by this time next year and unless he has an 'out of his mind' type season at Sao Paulo I don't see how his value could increase? if anything there's a greater chance it will decrease making it easier for Barcelona to sign him. But by that time will Barcelona still be just as interested? It's easy to say they would be interested now, after having ongoing negotiations with the club - but a year's time can change perspective on a lot of things and Barcelona may be looking at other options as well. To assume that Barcelona will show similar interest in him next year is not a given. This very well could have been Hernanes' one shot at playing for Barcelona.
