Total deal on Ribery transfer

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona has finalized the transfer of Bayern Munich attacker and French intenational Franck Ribéry (26) (read more here).

Barcelona would have established the principles of the deal during a secret meeting with Ribéry's agent Alain Migliaccio at Ibiza, the Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea where the agent has his official residence.

The transfer fee would be 25 million euro°, the same price Bayern paid two seasons ago to French club Marseille, plus one Barcelona player. Bayern would be interested in two players of the current Barcelona squad: Belarussian attacker Alexander Hleb (28), who is valued at 8 million euro°, and Icelandic attacker Eidur Gudjohnsen (30).

Bayern Munich, who had unsuccesfully tried to renew the contract of Ribéry that expires in 2011, would in the end have seen no other option than start talking about a transfer, despite earlier statements that the club had decided to hold on to the player this summer. The excellent relations between the two clubs would have helped to reach an agreement.

In an interview with French sports paper L'Equipe, Ribéry said yesterday that he will certainly leave Bayern Munich if his team doesn't qualify for next season's Champions League: "In those circumstances, it would indeed be very difficult to stay, that's obvious... That's why the club has to finish at least second."

I wish he gonna come to Camp Nou for real!!!

If it's true, he will help Pep countering the negative-football played by any opponents.

If he comes, he will have a good first year to get in to the barca style while Henry does his last year in the club. The two french players will take turns on the left wing and Iniesta can concentrate on the role he does best, in midfield. I think he is the best option to fill the left wing when henry is no longer to count on.

I love Ribéry, he is an amazing player.
Who can stop this Barca? :)

"Secret meeting" at Ibiza?? It sounds hugely opposite of what has Laporta talking about. He said that Barca will not purchase Ribery & Lahm due to good relationship with Bayern.

If the story is true, this would be great, but I'll believe in this when I see Ribery next to Laporta and Txiki.

I don't think it's true. I hope so but I really doubt it. with the financial crisis there won't be a lot of movement in the transfer market. There are simply no funds if you see what the players are earning!

jordy, obviously you don't know much about football. Clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Münich have vast resources even in times like this. The revenue haven't gone down since they rely on tv-income and tickets.

Barca could buy Ribery for the income from CL this season.

increable, its from elmundo deportivo,i believe it a bit,but if i should follow what larpota said about the good relationship between barca and baryern i think a secret meeting should not be held by the players agent and barca, but if we can buy him for less that amount plus guddy it will be nice, pls dont include hleb in his deal,i prefere guddy to be included.

Maybe Bayern WAS at that "secret" meeting and it was only supposed to be "secret" for the media, who knows...

Like someone above said: until he's not presented, you cannot count on anything, so I'll wait and see...

if ribery does indeed come, there is nil chance for hleb. He has to go for his own good

it will become true when bayern fail to qualify for Cl, they are third 1point behind hertha berlin and they haven't been playing well. to tell you the truth bayern have looked better in the league this season without ribery in the lineup and i'm serious about that.

in relation to signings we need someone to cover for iniesta in the middle cause playing two dm isn't barca's style and u can see how we fail when we play keita/yaya or keita/busquets. hernanes seems cheap and good cause he has speed and strength or sign another arsenal player like denilson, samir or take back our youth player fran merida, he is said to be the next fabregas.

that leaves busquets to find it hard to get a spot but he can be loaned out next season(i don't want him leave he'll be a beast in 3years) so a loan is good. guddy, milito, jorquera, Hleb(mixed feelings about him)and slyvinho should all go. if we want a treble our squad have to be deeper and have more understanding amongst the subs.

player in are not exactly true but is the ones i want at barca. ribery, zlatan(most impossible but he is my favourite fwd so i should believe ina signing), hernanes, bring back henrique, sergio asenjo and promote gai and xavi torres.

this weekend should see barca throw away the match to conserve energy and we will still be in front even if we lose, it is a risk but it must be done.

Guys, the players that we have "signed," only to have the rumor overtaken by reality is very long. I'd calm down about this one.

But I would gladly double my soci dues if it would facilitate the deal. :D

Denilson!!!!????!!!!, no way. We dont want to become like Arsenal/Wenger with the youth philosophy. Asene Wenger is a child-trafficker. He easily infuences 15 year old to the club, he is a kidnapper.

wow, this should give the players a lift ahead of the two crucial matches. the thought of ribery lning up instead of gudjhonsen is definitely quite appealing. what say..

It will be IMPOSSIBLE for Ribery to stay with Bayern if they don't quality for the Champs Lge. There may be some truth to this. The fact is Barca is the perfect destination for him. He knows it and every other football fan knows it. There is no other club that plays football like Barca and Franc will be the perfect addition for what we need. It will be a win - win for everyone including Bayern who will probably get Hleb and their money back in their investment.
