Movie of the day: Gladiator

25 minutes before the start of the Champions League final, while Manchester United was doing the warming-up, the players were called to the dressing-room where Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola let the players watch a seven-minute movie that included the most significant images of each player during the season: Valdés' saves of Valdes in the one-on-ones with Drogba, Puyol's goal in the Bernabéu, Pinto's penalty save against Mallorca in the cup, Iniesta's goal against Chelsea, Milito suffering during his recovery, etc.

The images of the players were mixed with images and quotes (including "What we do in life echoes in eternity", "There was a dream that was Rome" or "Whatever comes out of these gates, we've got a better chance of survival if we work together") from the oscar-winning movie Gladiator (2000), starring Russell Crowe as Maximus, a Roman general turned slave turned gladiator.

Catalan television station TV3 will broadcast the seven minute-movie on Monday.

by the way, If you see a video of Gladiator+Barça in youtube (around 2 minutes) it's not legit, it was made by a Spaniard TV.

As pep said, TV3 will broadcast the original one on Monday night.

Wow, this will be great!!!

I'm so much looking forward to this video, I wouldn't have believed that it will be published at all :)

Pep is a unique kind of trainer and the perfect one for Barca, I hope he will become our very own version of Sir Alex.

Pep I have a quesiton. Who is the man in the shirt and tie on the Barca sidelines directing the players during substitutions?

pep said...

Because that's his job, I guess, James. I think you're referring to Carles Naval, the team delegate.

Hasn´t C.Naval been in the club like forever? What is his duties etc,if anyone can tell me? :)
Visca Barcelona!! Greetings from Bergen,Norway!!!

I don't think the tasks of a team delegate are really explicitly defined, Andrezinho. It's more practical, administrative job that includes dealing with the referees, so he's not a coach or something.

Sure, it seemed obvious enough. I just wanted to know his name :)

I read too quick and thought you asked "Why is..." instead of "Who is..."

Which makes the first phrase of my reply meaningless :)
