Medical: Puyol and Iniesta out for Deportivo game

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona players Carles Puyol (31) and Andrés Iniesta (25) won't be available for Saturday's league game against Deportivo.

Puyol sprained his left ankle during the Champions League final against Manchester United on Wednesday, while new medical tests have shown that Iniesta's thigh injury hasn't yet totally healed despite the good feelings of the player during the final.

Since Iniesta is supposed to be called-up to play the Confederations Cup next month, Barcelona's medical staff has contacted the medical staff of the Spanish football federation to discuss the recovery schedule of the player. Iniesta torn a quadriceps muscle on the front of his right thigh during the league game against Villarreal on Sunday 10 May.

So, the best player on the pitch was in fact not 100% fit at all. Wow, that surely is scary. For other teams I meant.

Guardiola is said to have given Iniesta the order not to shoot on goal during the game to minimize the injury risk.

I saw Puyol get injured and give the side line the "sub me" gesture twice... then he started running and said nevermind.
