Asturias regional newspaper El Comercio reports that Barcelona is closely monitoring Sporting Gijón left back defender and Spanish youth international José Angel Valdés "Cote" (19).
Asked about the player, Barcelona scout for Asturias Emilio Gutiérrez confirmed to the paper that he has been keeping an eye on Cote for a while now: "I have been following him for three years. I know him since he was playing for the Juvenil team.
It's a sensational footballer, you won't easily find a left-footed player with his qualities, so I'm not surprised he's doing that well in the Liga. With José Angel and Canella, Sporting has actually two good players for that position. Both are interesting players although I cannot go into details about my scouting reports."
The paper claims that Barcelona has been given the advice by the scout to sign Cote. The Spanish left back, who made his league debut with the first team last month against Barcelona, signed in February his first professional contract with Sporting, including a buyout clause of 18 million euro°. Real Madrid, Valencia and Atlético Madrid would also be following the player, while Villarreal and Sevilla could also be ready to join the race.

18 million euro =
25 million us dollar
17 million british pound
Interesting with someone as young as 19 years old.
Never heard of him thou :)
Good player, but I think Canella is the better and the more gifted one.
Doesn't seem too confident with his ball-handling nor too adept with the crossing but his defensive abilities seem good and thats good enough for me right now.
He might develop after playing with Barca for a few seasons although I dont think he would with Sporting.
