Sporting Gijon wants Gai Assulin on loan

Asturias regional newspaper El Comercio claims that Primera División club Sporting de Gijón is interested in signing Barcelona Atlètic (previously known as Barcelona B) left wing attacker and Israeli international Gai Assulin (17) on loan.

Because Barcelona has planned to keep Gai at Barcelona Atlètic to be able to follow his progress more closely, it will be difficult for Sporting to close the deal. Barcelona would be thinking about letting Gai follow the same program as Bojan last year, meaning introducing him step by step into the first team.

Sporting will try to convince Barcelona by proposing a loan deal that will give the player the chance to make his debut in the Liga, something the player would also prefer as was proven when Gai showed his disappointment about not being able to start the pre-season with the first team (read more here).

Gai meanwhile didn't report back for training yesterday at the start of the pre-season of Barcelona Atlètic. Because there was some speculation in the press about Gai having decided on his own to prolonge his holiday, Barcelona put out an official statement saying that Gai was still in Israel trying to avoid the obligation of a two-year military service.

Barca produce loads of young talents. Messi, Fabregas, Giovanni Dos Santos... and now Gai Assulin. It is really sad that Giovanni left because of the lack of appearance. Couldn't Barca try to make him adapt Centre forward. So he won't have to play the same place as Messi. I recond he will get more appearance because Henry and Eto'o is getting old and I also think Gio can play good in centre forward because of his skills and brilliant shooting skills.

The thing is that Gai is a left winger and obviously not plays in Messi's position, which is on the right wing.

Gioavni actually did get a lot of playing time and still he didn't find it enough so he left. Well, that does he think? That he would play all games his first season in the first team? Yeah right. So he left, who cares, it's his lost.

I dont understand why people were upset when Dos Santos left. He wasn't any good. He played like a hurt woman and had the looks to match. I can't tell you how glad I am to have him gone because he was no better than my left nut.

Abidal---------------------Alves
---------Milito----Puyol--------

If Alves runs up Xavi needs to help Alves out but Yaya can't run too much forward, he needs to be alert if Alves loses the ball. This is in case the opponent burst through from the right(conter attack). Also Henry can't play like last season, holding on to the ball and try to find someone to pass to.He is now a cenre Striker so he has to make runs.

Actually if Eto'o is not leaving, he can still play 1st team centre Striker instead of Henry. It's hard to choose.

this guy is really fantastic, but i thought he should be giving a chance to show his worth with the first team this pre-season.because he his a winger also and he operates from the left, dinho occupies that porsition before, but now he as left.and henry has played from that porsition for almost all last season,so now henry has been shifted to his original position,{center forward}so we are now larking a left side winger, why cant this lad be promoted sothat he would be playing that position for us as that is his real position.because we cant imaging seeing iniesta in that porsition.we need iniesta as a midfielder.
