Chelsea and Manchester City sound out Alves

British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims that Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in Barcelona right back defender and Brazilian international Daniel Alves (25).

Sources in Barcelona would have revealed that both English clubs have been keen to sound out exactly how 'available' Alves might be and how much he likes a future in the Premier League. Insiders close to the South American say he would prefer to relocate to London.

Chelsea is said be ready to make a huge offer for Alves in the summer. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would again want to spend big in the transfer market and the Brazilian defender is one of the top targets. Abramovich's aides are working on the transfer of Alves, with top-level talks underway. Barcelona put a 90 million euro° buyout clause in Alves' four-year contract last summer but that price can change if the player wants out.

Since the economic crises, Abramovich is more focused to work for his living. Paying big is more a nostalgia for him at the moment.

Man City can pay 900M for Alves pair of shoes and they wouldn't blink an eye lol...But we all know its unlikely happening in the short term.

Yeah right. Lies, lies, lies...

Chelsea have Beletti, Paulo Ferreria and Bosingwa for their RB position and city have micah richards. I somehow doubt that either of them is looking for a RB

I don't think he will want to go but for e.g. 50m and bosingwa i would go for it:)

yes he's good but I think people exagerate a bit with him. he works hard, delivers fine passes yes. but he isn't the superclass player like ronnie was or messi. He's the best at his position and a good team player but no legend. Only legends we don't sell for crazy amounts

Belletti is mainly a midfielder in chelsea. But the do have Bosingwa, and i dont see any reason as to why they would want Alves instead. Bosingwa is very similar to Alves and is also one the top 5 right defenders im aware of.

"The Daily Mirror" ... Almost as reliable as Marca.

As Fred_FCB pointed out, it's the Daily Mirror...It makes Marca sound incredibly credible by comparison.

Highly unlikely this would happen, it seems very clear that Alves is quite happy at Barca and vice versa.

I believe he'll be owning the right side for Barca for years to come
