I say Liverpool because they are strong, then Arsenal when all their players are back and finally Manchester Utd in the final. Beat them when they are strong would be very satisfying
we if we make it to the semis we are going to have a tough two weeks cause we have real madrid in between the two leg fixtures, everything seems to be going their way from playing all our opponents a week after to scraping out wins and draws when they should lose and now this.. i say we have to get a big advantage in the first leg so we can rest people in the second which means we going all out against whoever we face in semis(should we make it) and real then rest players in 2nd leg and against villareal(rest only against villa if we beat or draw with real) tough schedules like these is what gives real the advantage we had one similar last season.. spanish FA needs to work on their fixture list.
Also my vote goes to Liverpool let's put their feet on the ground by beatin them really bad which I believe we will. Let's show the world who rules. Visca el Barca
i agree with people and would love to see us destroy man u or liverpool, but if we want to win this competition (really, really unlikely, i'm not hating on the team its just that a manager can't win CL in his first season, it doesn't happen, if pep makes it happen then he is a god!) we need to avoid the english teams other than arsenal. liv, Man u and chelsea will all play defensive football and hit us on the counter. against those defences we still don't have an answer. arsenal will come at us and make for the best game, but you can never tell which arsenal team will turn up, on thier day they are about the only team that can match us. bayern seem really good in CL, villareal not sure, but for me we want porto. our schedule from now till the end of the season is going to be manic, so, with the greatest respect to porto, they are the easiest option. we going to have enough big games to test ourselves in later, for now we want easy matches, and porto, should prove the easiest.
I hope we me Liverpool or Man Utd, we have to show that we're capable of winning cl by meeting the the big teams now, it would be better if we meet a team like Bayern/Porto/Arsenal in the semi when we have the hard matches. Also i want to have revenge on Man Utd after last year
I agree with SJP. I want to thrash all the British Teams more than anything but we should hope we don't get one until the Semi's if we make it that far. I hope we get Porto because they are the easiest team. If we make it to the semi finals then I hope we get Chelsea then if we beat them, I want Manchester United in the finals. But if we do get a British team, then so be it. WE WILL KILL THEM!
with 4 english sides left, there's a good chance 2 of them will get drawn together, leaving 2 english sides playing non engish sides, and one match without an english team in it. the chances of getting that one match are pretty slim. how lucky could we possibly be to get that one easy match??? so yeah, we're pretty much gonna have to be ready to take on someone from the EPL, and if we move beyond them, possibly another epl side....ugh... maybe by sum amazing twist of fate all 4 english teams will face each other next! haha..
This is the best Barca side I have seen since I have been watching football. We are in good form and to prove that we are the best side in europe, we have to face the best. The best side in europe is Man Utd, and I want Barca to kick in the balls of the English football. I want us to torment their adamant defences and prove that attacking football is the best way to play football. This will also be a revenge for last years semifinal exit, where they were just standing in the box .. Fuck Man Utd. Forca Barca !!
Barca should play Arsenal...Liverpool will face ManU ;) Pool is always dangerous in big matches...ManU will take revenge for their defeat in EPL...We will face ManU in the final...and we will take revenge for last year's loss against them in the final....
Bayern - Chelsea Liverpool - United Villarreal - Arsenal Barcelona - Porto
Why?
I think there are 5 teams with a good chance to win the CL, Bayern, Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Barca. With this draw 2 of our opponents will get knocked out and that will only benefit Barca. Porto should be a piece of cake.
providing we are in our conventional unstopable form while they are in a slight slump is Man u then we can guarentee ourselves the win in the final. Otherwise porto...we all like an easy win:)
I would like Barca to play on the 1/4 against Manchester United and smash them , on the other hand Porto to play against Vilarreal and win over Vilarreal , this is all because on the next stages i wish we draw PORTO so we can have a chance to play against Real Madrid on the weekend with a full team and beat this gayass team . That my opinion shouldn't mean that's true , just a wish . Play ManU 1/4 , Porto win with Vilarreal and play Porto on the Semi Final , this is a Dream for me . Liverpool plays Chelsea and Bayern vs Arsenal .
Even though I think that Barca will have a good chance at beating Liverpool, I say, give me anyone but them! They are in such a great form at the moment and with both Gerrard and Torres on the field they havent lost a single game.
is so hard at this point to choose...everyone wants such intense game already....i rather what SimonP said...almost...
Chelsea Essien is in fine form and taking these shots from 35-40m out and banging them in!
Arsenal are getting their act together and Arshavin is finally coming around and finishing nicely.
Bayern Munich just lost Klose, but gain Toni back. Ribery still hurt, with Altintop. Ther back is looking little loose wit Demichelis, but of course Lahm making up for it.
Villarreal just had there 1st lost this weekend, since feb 8. N you always have to deal with Rossi n company
@jacob: bayern do not pose a threat to barcelona cause they have a very poor defense even worst than ours. barca will score against then quite easily and their attack is slow, klose toni are only good in the air and thats the only problem we have against bayern. ribery is good and will might pose alot of problems but then again they said that about ronaldo last year and benzema this year but both of them looked horrible against barca.
Chelsea is a threat too but they haven't been scoring alot of goals and when they do its most likey because of deflection or a mistake near the area.. when barca play any english side their so called great players are poor and forced to defend. no matter how good you are defending is what it comes down too when playing barca.
Villareal is probably the biggest threat of the quarter finals for us cause they play us twice each year... they have more experience against us and their players have cost us trouble for the past three years but cl is a different competition and villareal might just end up succumbing to huge pressure and against barca players who become much better playing in cl like messi and henry(to me they play much better in CL than in La liga)
Liver and manu are in the same boat good attacking players and a good defense but we have seen from both of them that they can crumble to huge amount of attacking football(the only reason liver and manu both knocked us out is because of defensive errors from marquez valdes and zambrotta and we didn't put away the chances we had and we had enough to have notched two goals) so either one of them would fall victim once they are forced to pin back all their players. ronaldo is still a big game flop in my eyes and torres score those goals through poor defensive work from pepe and vidic. puyol will handle torres as mistakes from puyol are rare and pique has been good as well.
porto is a guaranteed semi final place enough said.
arsenal plays just like barca but with a weaker squad and they don't have arshavin cause he is cup tied i think..walcott is good but still to young and bendtner poses a big a threat as sporting gijon van persi will most likely be injured by the time the quarters start and their defense is just waiting to be mauled.. u don't put young players to mark messi eto and henry especially since they get forward too much.
so like cruyff said it doesn't matter who we draw all will be the same and suffer the same fate(ok i added a little to what he said lol)
Porto, then Bayern. I'd take Chelsea over Arsenal, the way the latter is playing right now. Thankfully, Arshavin isn't CL eligible.
I want to get the easiest draw possible. Yes, I believe there is nobility in facing up to the best, but I'd love to give Abidal time to get fully fit. Ditto for Puyol.
You can take two attitudes: wanting to play the toughest team and thus have a chip on your shoulder for the semis if you make it, or wanting to play the worst team so that tougher teams perhaps will be weeded out and you take the path of least resistance.
I say a little from column a, a little from column b. Bayern or Arsenal. Bayern isn't as good as they were against Porto, and Barca could beat them and claim to have beaten the team that scored 13 goals in the last round. Arsenal, with all its injury problems that have marred its season, are definitely the most vulnerable English team, even though it's coming into a bit of form in the league. Knocking out an English team would be great for keeping the status of Liga up and would be an acid-test for a likely English draw in the following round.
Porto is too easy. You can't play Lyon, then Porto, and expect to have confidence against Man U. Villareal, a very good team, is slipping a whole lot in Liga, and regardless of how well we do against them (they may very well beat Barca, as they nearly did in December), people will give less credit because it's a relative local derby.
Man U, I wouldn't send my worst enemy to play them at the moment. Even though Liverpool exposed some weaknesses as far as Route 1 goes, Barca doesn't play Route 1, and wouldn't score those goals. Make no mistake, they would be the toughest team to beat, and if CL was a week-by-week league, they'd be the only ones that might beat Barca. Chelsea--I can't believe it since they have absolutely no stability--is hitting excellent form under Hiddink, and I want that to end before Barca faces them...classic match though. Because when they fall out of form, believe me, Barca could beat them by quite a margin. Liverpool is similar, but I think I'd rather face Chelsea...I don't know, the way they beat Madrid...it scared me as Liga-watcher.

i vote for arsenal cause their attacking style of play will suite us just fine.. i like to see open games.

Man. U, because there is no team I would rather we thump more than Man U.

As a brave man, I have to choose FC Porto:D

Chris is right. And what if no English teams face each other? We will have to face British opposition.

I hope we will see these quarter finals:
Bayern - Chelsea
Liverpool - United
Villarreal - Arsenal
Barcelona - Porto
