Medical: Iniesta out for two weeks

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona player Andrés Iniesta (24) has torn an adductor muscle in his right thigh during yesterday's league game against Málaga.

Iniesta, who was replaced by Gudjohnsen after one hour, is expected to be out for the next two weeks. This would mean that the Spanish midfielder won't be available for his national team and could miss the league game against Valladolid. The player will be further examined today.

Any updates on the other injuries suffered this weekend?

There's a separate post on Touré, Anony. Xavi wouldn't be too bad, he could probably play for Spain although the medical staff has sent a report to the staff of the Spanish football association.

very injury prone iniesta
thank god messi hasn't injuried himself this year! Also Toure is a fragile guy!
Hope iniesta finds the right form against bayern

oh man, this sucks... it's the third injury for iniesta that season. something is going wrong. they have to take care for him as they do with messi because it seems, both are very injury prone

muscle tear means either he didnt warm up well (if he gets injured in the start of the game) either his muscles are overused and tired.i think iniesta is stragling to get back on the field very fast and he tires his body alot in order to get well better, thats why all the injuries were in the last 3-4 months

i am a little worried, iniesta is needed in the field,he adds alot of creativity to the squad, its not the same when we play with xavi/iniesta when we play with xavi alone.even though busquets/yaya create too they are not xavi/iniesta material,we are missing on this position(i dont want to even think what will happen if xavi gets injured).thats why we need a player that can play both in midfield and in wing(silva),we already have a trump card hleb(but pep doesnt use him on the center never)lets see....

guardiola is quoted as saying toure and iniesta out for 10-15 days and xavi had a little pain before the game but wanted to play and he will be fine for the rest of the season.

IN a way its pep fault for playing him so much with all his injuries. He needs to be eased back into it. There was no need to play him this week or last.

Call me sinister, but if you look at it, with big matches coming up, wouldn't you love to have your key players get rest during Internationals week?

So you send Xavi along with a note from his Mom, and Iniesta is out....for two weeks.

I'm sure he has a little knock, but I'm betting that if El Clasico were next weekend, he could play.

I think that Iniesta does rush himself back. I also think he's a bit frail. Look at how Krkic and Messi have strengthened themselves over the off season. You have to. That, or develop Xavi's magic abilities to avoid contact.

Iniesta should not bulk up and lose his agility. This is madness Kevin and you know it!

Of course they get injured because defenders kick them more in one game than the ball itself :D

toure is more important against bayern such as pique. we need a tall guy that can stop toni and van buyten in the air. on the ground we have enough players that can handle ribery and ze roberto
