Cesc talks about Barcelona exit

Asked about why he left Barcelona in 2003, Arsenal midfielder and Spain international Cesc Fabregas (22) has said in an interview with television network Gol TV that the club didn't really believe in him:

"At Barça, they used to renew your contract every year and there were players like Leo, Piqué and others who they really believed in.

I was average, not good, not bad. I was there but I wasn't one of those they expected to have a big future. They believed more in others than in me. So I decided that the best thing was to move, to change."

That's a lie

Laporta met him in person to convince not to leave, and when you are not felt important the president won't do that. Statements like these from Cesc make me hate him even more these days. First of all, I'm never satisfied with his attitude(throwing pizza at fergi, spitting on Hull official, etc) and these statements(Yeah I won't mind if I have to go to Madrid) only add fuel to the fire

bullshiiiiiiiiiit.
whatever this guy says, it's just excuse.
cesc has won the u17 WC MVP(in finland) at just 16yrs old! and spain was runner-up.
clearly great future ahead of him.

was he average? c'mon...that's why i don't like him much.

who are you to say it's 'lie' only cesc can say whether they didn't have confidence in him or not. were you there NO you weren't so shut up.
oh and when did you hear him he doesn't mind going to madrid.
and i don't think cesc would care if you are 'satisfied' or not

and if you Hate him so much then don't bother reading the press articles.
i don't pay attention to those i hate neither should you.

it's clear barca wanted him to stay or they wouldn't have been so upset the day he left or laporta wouldn't have tried to convince him to stay. on two occasions cesc said it would be a hard choice to choose between barca and real and you said we weren't there... you weren't there either so it could be a lie. i don't think this is something that cesc should of said in an interview cause little things like these can hurt relationships between player and club or hurt the club image. with all of that being said i still want him to come cause i am thinking about what barca needs and barca needs another creative midfielder.

Strict NO! to the traitor... Please Laporta don't degrade yourself by paying "exorbitant" transfer fee for a youth product who couldn't care to listen to your word when he was fucking 16 year old kid. He only wants to jump into the team that's being hailed as The Dream team II. If God forbid, Real Madrid wins the Liga or CL, I'm pretty sure he'd show the same amount of enthusiasm to sign for them.

@Marc4barca
If you really think Barca needs another creative mid-fielder, may be you are wrong. There's no body in the current football era who can play as well as Xavi in his role other than Iniesta imo. Not Cesc, not Diego nor any other "crack" mid-fielder. Xavi's role in our squad is the most toughest and one needs to be fucking cunning to live up to the expectations playing there which Iniesta is :)
We don't need another creative mid-fielder in our squad, PERIOD

I cannot understand you guys. Eto'o was a RM 'b' player before he was loaned to Mallorca. Unlike Figo who was a 1st eleven player, 2nd tier players have to look after their own future as Spain, as I know it is not like Japan, where you work with 1 employer till retirement. These are professional players for god sake. It's not like they will goals into their own post. That then is what a traitor.

1.Eto'o wasn't born in Madrid.
2.Eto'o isn't a hypocrite.

"Iniesta really established himself as a first team player in the 2005-06 season. Playing in central midfield in place of Xavi, who was sidelined for a long time with injury, Iniesta became one of the key players in the Barça side that won the League and the Champions League. He played in 33 League fixtures and 11 in the Champions League"

This is a quote from Iniesta's profile that is given in the official barca website. He was only 21 years old then. Now imagine with all the experience and maturity that he gained in the mean while, how effectively he could play Xavi's role in the team.
Fabregas is not such a composed player as every one pictures him to be. He loses his cool more than occasionally, and that character is not one should possess to play Xavi's role in Barca.

Only Iniesta is an equivalent creative mid-fielder to Xavi and none else. By the time Xavi retires & Iniesta needs a back-up to play at CM, we will be able to develop at least one of Busquets, JDS & Thiago to fulfill that role. So stop chanting Fabregas guys, PLEASE. Not for that 45million that we have to pay :(

Katalanos said...

I agree 45mil is too much for a guy that would probably sit on the bench for 3 or 4 years until Xavi grows old. Those of you who want Fabregas, could you tell me where would he play in the starting eleven?

Anonymous said...

cesc should sacrifice himself if he want to come back home.
i mean... he should pressure arsenal to reduce transfer fee or reduce his own salary just like ukranean jesus did.
anyway 45mil is too much,30-35 would be acceptable.

I say screw Fabregas...

tero said...

Cesc has a bad attitude and his skills are not even close to Xavi or Iniesta...IMO wasting over 40 million for this prick is just stupid...we have thiago and JDS coming up

Anonymous said...

anyway if wenger didnt used him much he wldnt be dis good anyway...it jus depends on sacrifices made by the coaches....we sitll have xavi torres(buyback optn of 3 mil) in our reach and i knoe if dis guy keeps playin he'll exceed expectations and hopefully he wont be as stupid as Cesc.

When Ibra and Chygry was selected, I too holler the same cry, it's too pricey and not worth it. Yet the deal went thru as the board thinks these players add value to the team, so I just accept them and move on.

Now, with Cesc, I don't know if he's as good as the media made him to be but it seems Pep and the board wants him so there must be something that we as outsiders don't see. It could be that they want him as replacement for Xavi now before some other club gets him. He may not have it now but it won't take him long to acquire Xavi's composure and all. Either way Xavi is still there in midfield while Cesc learn the Barca way of doing things.

As for the final price, it may not even be as stipulated as things could happen from now till then. Of course for me 45mil is too expensive when we are not prepared to pay Valencia that amount for Villa but there's a lesson there too. Because they know we are in a desperate need for a CF, they just put in a ridiculous price.

We don't want that to happen when we have to replace Xavi.

Those who are saying that Fabregas is nowhere near Xavi/Iniestas skill are biased or just delusional. Fabregas is Captain in one of the best teams in the world in the second best leaugue in the world, and he has been one of the best there since 16-17 years of age. Now he´s only 22 and one of the best midfielders in the world, he has a lot to thank Barca for this. In my opinion, I think he´s even a bit ahead Xaxi/Iniesta in his development, not saying he definetly will be better, but he could surely be as good.
Most will not agree with me, but I ask you to try to put personal feelings aside and then review Cesc as a Player.

people who say fab is a traitor and stuff are obvisouly idiots. i bet if a top european club offered anyone here a contract when they're 16 they would accept. u so called 'cules' neeed to be realistic honestly.

realistically speaking, one cannot blame cesc for leaving entirely. yes, he shoulders a large portion of it, but remember, the starters ahead of him are very talented. his attitude does not impress me but his skills make me admire him. i feel he is the only player in the world whom barca can buy to replace xavi effectively. please dont say iniesta, he is already here. and whatever cesc says about madrid, you cannot deny that as a player born in barcelona and bred here, he understands the significance of a clasico as well. i second the purchase of cesc, whenever it occurs.

lets just hope that arsenal wont have a good season then cesc will definately come..
on another note, davide santon is considering leaving inter, we should get him as he can play LB & RB and he's still only 18!

What a lier this Cesc.

"They believed more in others than in me."

Thats why Rosell at least managed to get a "first buyback option" from Wenger, right? Because the board felt he is avarage?

skanjos: he was, just look when Laporta was elected and when Fabregas left. Its really not so hard to understand.

Laporta was President at the time Fabregas officially left for Arsenal.

the guy on cesc's left looks like pique..its pique right?

@ jay, stop the nonesense, if i was a barca youth and arsenal offered me a contract i wouldnt go, becuz barca is a bigger club than arsenal.I would stay for 1 year until barca handed me a contract, cesc couldnt wait and he could have 2 CL medals if he stayed but NO, he jumped to the fact he would play first team football in a club that loves the kids.

Anonymous said...

If cesc statey with barca he would be a better player, yes cesc is good now, but who does he learn from ? if he was under the guidance of rijkaard and pep he would get playing time, and playing alongside xavi ,iniesta and messi will only make you develop quicker and smarter, at arsenal he has to do it on his own, he is obviously good yes but he could have been much much better in the blaugranna. But with that being said i DONT want cesc back in barca colors. LEt him stay in england on go trophyless,,,, he could have made CL medals already.

Slasher McKagan said...

I forgot to say one thing, I always forget it, because that Wenger's slut really pisses me off... If Pep really wanted cesc, he will get him, like Ibra or Chygri... Pep is very smart guy and he knows that Thiago and Jonathan are better, much better

Slasher McKagan said...

"would get him"
sorry for my English ;)

anyone who is saying that they think jonathon dos santos is a better option than cesc has 0 clue what they are talking about! Comparing those two is like comparing Messi to Freddy Adu
