Poulsen alternative for Mascherano
With three years still remaining in his contract, Poulsen is said to have fallen out of favour with Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara who has deemed him surplus to requirements in light of recent additions to their squad.
The transfer of Mascherano would have been seen as too expensive and so
Barcelona would have rekindled their interest in the ex-Sevilla defensive midfielder. Barcelona would offer 15 million euro for Poulsen according to Sport.

Catalan radio station RAC 1 claims that Barcelona could be interested in Fenerbahçe forward and Spanish international Daniel 'Dani' Güiza (28).Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has reportedly asked one of his players at the Confederations Cup about Güiza. It is believed that Guardiola wanted to know more about the human qualities of the player and if he could fit in the Barcelona squad.Güiza, who signed with Fenerbahçe last summer on a four-year deal (read more here), would want to leave this summer because of his bad relationship with the Turkish club and the recent dismissal of Fenerbahçe manager Luis Aragonés.Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that following the player's performance in South Africa, Zenit St. Petersburg and Manchester City have made bids of 14 million euro° and 12 million euro°respectively. Spanish clubs Valencia and Atlético Madrid are also thought to be interested.

Barcelona close to signing Robinho on loan
Catalan television channel TV3 claims that Barcelona could close in the coming hours the loan of Manchester City left winger and Brazilian international Robinho (25).
Robinho would sign for one season with an option to buy the Brazilian next summer.
British tabloid The Daily Mirror claimed this morning that Barcelona was planning to make a 41 million euro° bid for Robinho and that Manchester City is willing to let the player go because of his bad relationship with Manchester City manager Mark Hughes.
Catalan sports paper Sport claimed that Robinho, who doesn't feel comfortable in England, had become Barcelona's main candidate for the left wing position after Bayern Munich repeated that Ribéry is not for sale. Because of the high transfer fee Manchester City would ask for Robinho, Barcelona would be looking at other options, among which a loan deal leaving Barcelona to only pay the player's salary.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is closely following Shakhtar Donetsk right back defender and Croatian international Darijo Srna (27 - picture) and Shakhtar Donetsk central defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22) (read more here).
With both players being valued at 15 million euro° each, Barcelona could make a move for the two although the salary of Srna might be a problem.
Asked about the rumours linking him with several European top clubs among which Barcelona, Srna unconfirmedly said earlier this week in an interview with Croatian sports paper Sportske Novosti that he has two concrete offers: "Where there is smoke, there is fire. The truth is that I have two definite offers from top clubs in Europe, but I cannot name them. That would not be right. I haven't made a final decision yet. In two or three days, the clubs will present offers in writing, and after that we will get an answer from Shakhtar president Ahmetov."

Although several media claim that the player could sign a deal with Valencia today, Almería right back defender Bruno Saltor (28) said yesterday in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that Barcelona was still an option:
"I don't really know what is going on because I'm on holiday, but I'm relaxed because I know my representatives are taking care of things.
It's true that with Barça everything seems to be put on hold, but I still can't exclude joining them. It's great that important clubs like that are intrested in you, but what should happen will happen.
The deal with Betis was cancelled after they got relegated. There are still some things to take care off, but I don't think that will cause any problem."

Barcelona starts negotiations with Asenjo
Catalan television channel TV3 claims that Barcelona has started negotiations with Real Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19).
Barcelona would have immediately picked up the talks after the renewal negotiations with Barcelona goalkeeper Valdés broke down today. Catalan sports paper Sport claimed earlier this week that Asenjo was postponing a deal with Atlético Madrid to see how the talks between Barcelona and Valdés would evolve (read more here).

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge gave an interview to Germain tabloid Bild.

That is not correct. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and his adviser Pedro Jiménez have asked if we're willing to talk with them about a transfer. We have turned this down since we don't have any intention to sell Ribéry.

You bought him for 25 million and you could now make a profit of 45 million. From a mercantile point of view, wouldn't it be wiser to let him go?
When you're only thinking about the business aspect, you could consider it. But football is more than business, there's also an emotional side to it. We didn't buy Franck two years ago to earn money but to make our team better. Now we must do everything to keep him in Munich. That's my firm decision.
Ribéry's agent on the other hand, seems to do everything to change your plans...
I don't know about that but they know our point of view. And when Zidane says that he has been talking with Ribéry, then I can only smile a little about that. FIFA rules forbid that. But we won't make a lot of fuss about it. For me it's about Pérez and he knows what we think.

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Chelsea left winger and French international Florent Malouda (28) has been offered to Barcelona.
An intermediary who spoke in the name of Chelsea reportedly contacted Barcelona officials putting Malouda for sale for a transfer price of 20 million euro°. Barcelona would be considering the offer although both for economic and personal reasons a transfer seems unlikely.
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo nevertheless claims that Malouda is still one of the names on the list in case the transfer of Bayern Munich player Ribéry wouldn't go through (read more here). The French winger would have left a good impression during the Champions League semi-finals games between Barcelona and Chelsea. Malouda, who is represented by player's agency Mondial Promotion and has a contract with Chelsea until 2011, would cost around 15-20 million euro°.
Asked about the new rumours linking him with an exit, Malouda said in an interview with French football weekly paper France Football that he wants to continue at Chelsea: "Every time, I say the same thing and I don't know why but people are not getting the message! If I have chosen to live in London, that's no coincidence.
It's true that I don't talk a lot about my private life but London is the ideal place for my family, my children are having a great time there. I have veru good relationships at Chelsea and, in sporting terms, things are getting better and better. I am part of a club where I am flourishing."

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona is at this moment leading the race for the transfer of Mallorca goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moyá (25) (read more here).
Mallorca, who cannot transfer any players due to a financial dispute with Athletic Bilbao, would like to sign Barcelona wing attacker Pedro (21) on loan and is expected to try to include him in the deal on Moyá if Barcelona makes a formal bid.
Valencia, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal would also be interested in the Spanish goalkeeper.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that, because the transfer fee asked for Bayern Munich player Ribéry is too high, Manchester City winger and Brazilian international Robinho (25) is at this moment the most likely option for the left wing (read more here).
Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola thinks the player would perfectly fit in his system, the player's salary of between 5 and 6 million euro wouldn't be a problem for the club and Robinho, who reportedly has a clause in his contract that he can leave if his club doesn't qualify for the Champions League, would want to join Barcelona.
Asked about the rumours, Robinho didn't really enter the issue in an interview with the paper: "Barça is a great team and it's always good that they want you, but at this moment I'm only focusing on the Brazilian national team, which is the important thing now."

Deal on transfer left back Filipe close
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that a deal on the transfer of Deportivo La Coruña left back defender Filipe Luis is close (read more here).
Deportivo reportedly has to sell players because of the bad economic situation of the club, while Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristian would practically have reached an agreement with the representatives of the Brazilian player. The loan of several Barcelona Atlètic players could make a deal more easy.
Galicia regional newspaper El Ideal Gallego claims that Deportivo is referring to the buyout clause of 20 million euro but would be willing to drop that to 15 million euro if a friendly match and some B team players could be included in the deal. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona has offered a transfer fee of 10 milion euro, while Deportivo is asking 12 million euro. Juventus and Real Madrid would also be interested.
Asked about the rumours linking Filipe Luis with Barcelona, the player's agent Jose Carlos Lages seemed to suggest in an interview with the paper that he could put pressure on Deportivo: "If Barça is interested, they should act as fast as possible because Deportivo needs money. If it's true that Barcelona are offering 10 million euro for Filipe Luis, we'll talk to Deportivo so they accept the bid because that's a lot of money and you cannot reject that.
Before we can talk with Barça, they should first reach an agreement with Deportivo. If they have a deal, I have everything ready to immediately travel from Brazil to Spain. No one, Filipe Luis or any other player, can say no to Barça. Who wouldn't like to play there? It would be a very important chance for him to make progress."

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona has made a bid of 50 million euro for Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27).
More concrete, the bid of Barcelona would consist of 40 million euro cash plus incentives plus the loan of Barcelona players Martín Cáceres (21) and Bojan Krkic (18).
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona made a bid of 35 million euro while Valencia is asking 45 million euro. Barcelona and Valencia officials reportedly negotiated the whole weekend by phone after the talks between Valencia and Real Madrid were cancelled (read more here).

Zhirkov: "Barça is my first option"
CSKA Moscow left winger and Russian international Yuri Zhirkov (25) gave an interview to Catalan sports paper Sport.
The Spanish press is again talking about your possible transfer to a Barça team that made history. You've seen the team of Pep Guardiola play last season?
Of course. In Russia the Spanish league is closely followed and I watch a lot of games, especially those of Barça, my favourite team since many years. This season I've seen many games and the truth is they've played excellent.
Since when do you sympathize with Barça?
I don't remember... Since I was little. I always liked their way of playing and the idea about football they have.
Barça is full of star players. Messi, Xavi, Iniesta... Who is your favourite?
The whole team. They're all great. I cannot give you a name because the team has done perfect and all players have been important for the success of the team.
Besides Barça, there are other European clubs that are interested in you, like Juventus, and especially Chelsea. How do you feel about all that?
Well, all those rumours are constantly appearing on the web and in the media, but I prefer not to believe them. Until now, CSKA didn't receive any offer and they didn't start official negotiations with any club.
You know that Barcelona has let go Sylvinho and needs a new player on the left...
Yes, I know. And I would love to be that player. Despite that, at Barça the team is more important than the names and they always manage to overcome the absences. In the final of the Champions League for example, the two full backs were missing but the team still played a great game.
The British press assured that you have signed a contract with Chelsea... Is that true?
Of course not. The proof is that several weeks have already passed since those rumours and I'm still here, at CSKA. My club has never started talks about me with any club.
Chelsea's Russian owner Abramovich could make you choose for them?
Well, I don't know... But I repeat that my team is Barça and that I want to play there. Barça is my first option and I dream about being part of that club one day.
You see yourself playing for Barça next season?
In football, anything is possible, but first there should be an offer from Barça and then CSKA should accept it.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is monitoring Valencia left wing attacker and Spanish international Juan Manuel Mata (21).
Barcelona isn't planning to pay the 40 million euro buyout clause of the player but if Valencia would put Mata for sale because of their economic situation, Barcelona could try to sign the Spaniard. The paper also reports that Mata is represented by his father, who is a FIFA agent and who is the representative in Spain of Brazilian sports marketing agency Traffic.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that, although the renewal of Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés is the priority for the club, Barcelona is also looking at other options.
Liverpool goalkeeper and Spanish international José Manuel Reina (26 - picture), Villarreal goalkeeper and Spanish international Diego López (27) and Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz (28) would be the three names on the list of possible substitutes if Valdés wouldn't renew his contract this summer.
Diego López and Gorka have a buyout clause of respectively 35 and 30 million euro but Barcelona would try to lower those fees. The value of former Barcelona youth player Reina is being estimated at 20 million euro.

Barcelona vice-president confirms Villa interest
Asked about the rumours that Barcelona has made a bid for Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27) (read more here), Barcelona sports vice-president Rafael Yuste has confirmed the interest in an interview with Catalan radio station Catalunya Ràdio:
"Yes, Villa is one of our main objectives. Thanks to our sporting successes, a lot of players would like to join Barcelona. Talks are ongoing."

Mascherano wants Spain move for personal reasons
British tabloid News of the World claims that Liverpool defensive midfielder and Argentine international Javier Mascherano (25) is considering leaving Liverpool because of personal reasons.
His pregnant wife Fernanda has been unable to settle in England and returned to South America with the couple's daughter Lola before the end of last season.
And although Mascherano is professionally happy at Anfield, the personal situation of being apart from his family means he feels he has no option but to consider moving on. The midfielder thinks it will be easier for his wife to live in a Spanish-speaking country.
A Liverpool source is quoted as saying: "The truth is Javier loves Liverpool and is especially thankful to Rafa for everything he has done for his career in England. But he's facing a huge dilemma because he feels his family might be more settled in Spain. Nothing is certain, but it's true it's a big problem for the club."
Despite a presumed imminent 35 million euro° bid from Barcelona, Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez has insisted the midfielder is not for sale at any price. Liverpool released today a new official statement saying that they didn't receive any offers for Mascherano and that they don't intend to let the Argentinian go (read more here).
The statement on Liverpool's official website reads as follows: "Despite repeated media speculation on the futures of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, Liverpool has received no official approach or offer from any club regarding the players. Neither is for sale and furthermore Liverpool has no interest in the long list of Spanish based players being linked with a move to Anfield as part of any deal."
