American actress Eva Longoria, best known for her role in the television series Desperate Housewives, and her husband, San Antonio Spurs basketball player Tony Parker, visited the Barcelona squad in Rome in May.

Actress Eva Longoria offers herself to Barcelona

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that American actress Eva Longoria, most known for her role in the television series Desperate Housewives, has offered to become an ambassador for Barcelona in the United States.

Longoria became a Barcelona fan through Barcelona player Thierry Henry, a close friend of the actress' husband, French basketball player Tony Parker.

The actress, who has visited the Barcelona squad during the tour, would now have offered to become the image of Barcelona in the US, something that could open the door for sponshorship deals with American companies, usually nor very interested in football.

Barcelona would also be thinking about linking up with former football player Mia Hamm to reach out to American women. Barcelona officials would already have had informal contacts with the women's soccer icon and they would think Hamm would be perfect for a role as ambassador.

Picture of the day: Lorenzo

MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo will race tomorrow in the Catalunya Grand Prix with a Yamaha in Barça colours.

The Majorcan born rider, a well-known Barça supporter, has completely covered his motorbike with the Barça shield. Including his GP suit, bike, gloves and helmet, Lorenzo will be displaying 19 Barça shields at the Montmeló circuit.

"I carry Barça in my heart. I had a little dream, to be able to compete with the Barça colours, and now I've been able to make it a reality. The idea was to paint the whole bike and suit but FIAT has shares in Juventus and they weren't exactly keen on it being all in Barça's colours."

Picture of the day: Hamilton and Nakajima

Formula One racing drivers Lewis Hamilton and Kazumi Nakajima have received yesterday a personalized Barcelona shirt in Istanbul.

Hamilton, who has mentioned several times in the past that his favourite teams are Arsenal and Barcelona, said: "I'm delighted because I've always followed Barcelona." Nakajima, who has assisted several games at the Camp Nou, the last one last month against Villarreal, confessed that he's "crazy about Barça".

Hollywood actor visits Camp Nou

Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas assisted the league game against Sevilla yesterday, together with his brother Javier (on the left). The Spaniard met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta before the game and was handed a shirt with his name.
