Medical: Iniesta and Marquez ready for next game

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona players Rafael Márquez (30) and Andrés Iniesta (25) will get the green light by the medical staff next week and will that way be available for Barcelona's next match, the league game against Getafe.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Iniesta could play some minutes as substitute in the Getafe game and depending on how he feels after that, the Spanish midfielder could start the Champions League game against Inter Milan on 16 September.

Márquez suffered a fibre rupture in his left calf, the lower backpart of the leg, during a training session in the United States on Wednesday 5 August and was then expected to be out for ten to fifteen days.

Iniesta tore a quadriceps muscle on the front of his right thigh during the league game against Villarreal on Sunday 10 May and although he played the Champions League final against Manchester United on Wednesday 27 May, he has never fully recovered from that injury. On Friday 5 June, the medical staff of the Spanish football federation confirmed that the player has torn a muscle in his thigh and he was then expected to be out for the next six to eight weeks.

Speaking at a press conference, Barcelona Manager Josep Guardiola has said that Barcelona players Andrés Iniesta (25) and Rafael Márquez (30) will probably not play the second leg of the Spanish super cup next weekend and the European super cup on Friday 28 August:

"I don't think they will be ready. It's too early. They missed a big part of the pre-season and they're coming back from injuries. It's good news that they have started to work with the group but it will take some more time before they fully return.

Andrés caught a virus during his vacations, he lost a lot of kilos and he couldn't start regaining muscles. There was also the jet lag because of the US tour and the death of Dani Jarque also had a serious impact. But now he's back and little by little he's gaining weight."

Barcalona's official website has announced that Barcelona players Andrés Iniesta (25) and Rafael Márquez (30) have joined the group training this morning.

Both players are in the final stage of their recovery and were able to take part in some exercises together with the rest of the squad.

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona player Rafael Márquez (30) has suffered a fibre rupture in his left calf, the lower backpart of the leg, during yesterday's training sssion previous to the Seattle friendly game.

Márquez is expected to be out for the next ten to fifteen days, which means he will probably miss the first leg of the Spanish super cup against Athletic Bilbao on 16 August.

Barcelona's official website has announced that Barcelona players Rafael Márquez (30) and Thiery Henry (31) will be available for tonight's friendly game against Los Angeles Galaxy.

Asked about his recovery from a knee injury,Márquez (30) had said at a press conference yesterday that he is back to full fitness and hopes to play a few minutes in tonight's pre-season game:

"After three months out with this injury it's not easy to get back into the rhythm I had before, but I'm desperate to get back onto the pitch. The most important thing for me right now is that I've had no bad feelings in my knee and it seems to have healed okay."

Márquez torn the internal and external menisci of his left knee during the Champions league game against Chelsea on 28 April 2009 and was then expected to be out for two and a half to three months (read more here).

Henry strained the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee during the league game against Real Madrid on 2 May and was then expected to be out for at least three weeks. Despite playing the final of the Champions League on 27 May, Henry hasn't yet fully recovered from the injury (read more here).

Medical: Marquez aiming to play in the States

Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, 30, reveals on the official site of FC Barcelona that he is aiming to be back in business so he would be able to play on the teams tour in USA.

Marquez injured his knee in the end of the season, which prevented him from playing the last few games, including the Champions League final.

Marquez further explains that he went on his own accord to France instead of being on holiday, to keep up with his rehabilitation, and so he could make a come back earlier. He says he still got to be with his family after the stay in France, because of the treatments success. Barcelona travels to USA later this week.

Since the start of the pre-season, Barcelona players Rafael Márquez, Thierry Henry and Maxwell have been working apart from the squad.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that the three players will start training with the group at the beginning of next week. They could then make their game debut during the tour in the United States.

Maxwell is following special program to strengthen the muscles around his right knee, a consecuence of the serious knee injury the Brazilian left back suffered four years ago. Márquez torn the internal and external menisci of his left knee during the Champions league game against Chelsea on 28 April 2009 and was then expected to be out for two and a half to three months (read more here).

Medical: Marquez underwent surgery

Barcelona player Rafael Márquez (30), who got injured during last Tuesday's Champions League game against Chelsea after tearing the internal and external menisci of his left knee (read more here), underwent surgery on Saturday morning.

Doctors Ricard Pruna and Ramon Cugat told afterwards at a press conference that Márquez will be out for two and a half to three months, which would mean he'll be in the last stage of his recovery when the pre-season starts in July.

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has earlier today announced the list of 16 players for the first leg of the 1/8 finals of the Spanish cup against Atlético Madrid tomorrow evening at 8 pm.

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona central defender Rafael Márquez (29), who was substituted during the second half of yesterday's league game againt Mallorca, couldn't take part in this morning's training session because of a contracture of his left hamstring.

Although a muscle injury has been excluded, Márquez, who was already left out of the match list for the last game of 2008 against Villarreal because of an overburdening of the hamstrings of his left thigh, is uncertain for the cup game against Atlético Madrid on Tuesday.

Although yesterday and this morning, Márquez has been training with the group, the player couldn't participate in the whole session due to an overburdening of the hamstrings of his left thigh. After doing the first part with his team-mates, the defender did some individual exercises with Barcelona's physical coaches.

Barcelona defender Rafael Márquez (29) suffers from pharyngitis, a painful inflammation of the pharynx that causes a sore throat.

Like Hleb, Milito and Valdés, the Mexican could therefore not be present at the racing circuit yesterday (read more here).
