Henry: "Our work rate is extraordinary"

Barcelona forward Thierry Henry has unconfirmedly said in an interview with French sports paper L'Equipe that he has been playing with pain over the last couple of weeks:

"I'm still in pain. I have now been struggling for three weeks with my tendinitis and above all my knee. I had to rest when France played against the Faroe Islands match and in the Gamper game, because I just could not go on that way.

I wanted to restart too quickly to be back to my best for the first leg of the Spanish super cup. But I had a lot of pain. On Sunday, things were much better. My tendons left me in peace. It often happens to me at the start of the season but it should be gone now.

A new treble? I think we should go game by game, like we did last year. You have to be aware that Barcelona has been the first Spanish club to have won the treble. I guess that shows it's not an easy thing to do. People always say that Barcelona is playing well, but you shouldn't forget that the work done by the guys on the pitch is extraordinary. We defend all together. That is what allows us to recover the ball higher on the pitch. And that can change a game."

Barcelona's official website has announced that Barcelona player Thierry Henry (31) has joined the group training on Thursday afternoon.

The Barcelona striker had been suffering from pain in both of his Achilles tendons since the end of the team's US tour and didn't take part in an international game with France on Wednesday.

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that it's still doubtful if Henry will be able to take part in the first leg of the Spanish Super cup against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona player Thierry Henry (31) will likely miss this Sunday's opening leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao.

The Barcelona striker has been suffering from pain in both of his Achilles tendons since the end of the team's American tour and has decided not to travel with the French national team for its upcoming World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands.

According to team doctor Ricardo Pruna, "Right now it is doubtful" whether Henry will be able to participate in the Super Cup match against Athletic. The Frenchman will undergo tests later this week to determine whether he will appear in Bilbao or if he will have to wait until August 19th's Gamper Trophy contest against Manchester City for his next action on the pitch.

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona player Thiery Henry (31) has problems with the Achilles tendons of both legs.

The poblems started a few days ago but got worse during the pre-season friendly game against Chivas Guadalajara yesterday.

Henry will certainly be out for the next days, which means he won't travel to France for the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday. The evolution of the pain in his Achilles tendons will determine when he can return to action.

Barcelona's official website has announced that Barcelona players Rafael Márquez (30) and Thiery Henry (31) will be available for tonight's friendly game against Los Angeles Galaxy.

Asked about his recovery from a knee injury,Márquez (30) had said at a press conference yesterday that he is back to full fitness and hopes to play a few minutes in tonight's pre-season game:

"After three months out with this injury it's not easy to get back into the rhythm I had before, but I'm desperate to get back onto the pitch. The most important thing for me right now is that I've had no bad feelings in my knee and it seems to have healed okay."

Márquez torn the internal and external menisci of his left knee during the Champions league game against Chelsea on 28 April 2009 and was then expected to be out for two and a half to three months (read more here).

Henry strained the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee during the league game against Real Madrid on 2 May and was then expected to be out for at least three weeks. Since the start of the pre-season, Barcelona players Rafael Márquez, Thierry Henry and Maxwell have been working apart from the squad.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that the three players will start training with the group at the beginning of next week. They could then make their game debut during the tour in the United States.

The French Football Federation has announced that Barcelona player Thierry Henry (31) won't take part in the friendly games France will play against Nigeria on Tuesday and against Turkey on Friday.

The French striker still feels a persistent pain in his knee, despite having play the Champions League final against Manchester United last Wednesday.

Barcelona's medical staff has announced that Barcelona player Thierry Henry (31) has strained the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee during last Satruday's league game against Real Madrid.

Henry, who was replaced by Keita after one hour, is expected to be out for at least two more weeks and will undergo specific treatment in the coming weeks.

Henry's knee would have been hit during the first half of Saturday's league game against Real Madrid. The Frenchman would be out for the next two weeks.

Madrid sports tabloid Marca meanwhile claims, based upon club sources, that Henry will certainly travel to England with the squad tomorrow. The medical and technical staff are monitoring his situation and will decide later if he's able to play, something that cannot yet be excluded at this moment.

Barcelona forward Thierry Henry (31) will not travel to Benidorm today to play the Spanish cup game againt Benidorm tonight.

After passing a bad night due to stomach problems, Henry was examined by the Barcelona doctors this morning. They recommended the French striker to take a rest for the next 24 hours.

Henry is replaced by central defender Carles Puyol in the squad of 16 players selected for the cup game.

Valdés was the first victim on Wednesday, Márquez fell on Thursday and today Barcelona forward Thierry Henry (31) is the third victim of the pharyngitis plague that is going around in the Barcelona dressing room.

While Valdés has already recovered, Márquez and Henry stayed at home to rest this morning and didn't take part in the first training session.

Both players have been given medication and it now has to be seen if they will be able to participate in the second training session of the day at 6 pm.
