West Ham to move for Gudjohnsen

According to British paper Daily Star, West Ham are interested in Barcelona attacker and Icelandic international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30).

Barcelona are believed to have asked 5 million pounds for Gudjohnsen. After being asked to find a new club, Gudjohnsen is believed to join his former teammate Gianfranco Zola, who is the manager of West Ham.

The paper also claims that Txiki Begiristain has already been contacted and a deal could be reached over the weekend.

Victor Sanchez will leave on loan

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has decided to let Barcelona polyvalent defender and midfielder Víctor Sánchez (21) leave on loan to a Spanish first division club this summer.

Barcelona will now gather the information with the interested clubs and will then make a decision together with the player’s agent.

Until now, only the interest of Deportivo La Coruña has been made public (read more here) and this would be an option liked by both Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola. The coach would like the polyvalent player to specialize in one or two positions.

Agent Toure sets deadline for renewal

Asked about the contract renewal of Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivorian international Yaya Touré (26) (read more here), the player's agent Dmitri Seluk has said in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that a deal has to be signed in the coming week:

"If we don't sign a new contract at the beginning of the coming week, we won't sign anything.

Or Touré signs, or he doesn't sign, but we want things to be clear soon. We won't wait. We are claiming what we have been promised when we signed. We're not asking more money, we only ask what has been agreed upon when we came to Barça two years ago. Not one euro more."

Valdes renewal negotiations broken off

All Spanish and Catalan media claim that the negotiations on the renewal of the contract of have been broken off after a new meeting between the club and the player's agent Ginés Carvajal this morning.

The player, whose current contract expires in 2010, could now leave this summer while Barcelona might start searching the market in order to sign a new goalkeeper.

After days of negotiations between the club and the player's representatives, the parties have not been able to find a deal and the gap between the positions was too wide. While Barcelona offered the player to renew for four more years, until 2014, and earn a year salary of 6 to 7 million euro gross, the player's representative asked for 9 million euro, as much as players like Xavi and only behind Barcelona player Lionel Messi.

Negotiations with Valencia on Villa ongoing

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona has made a bid of 50 million euro for Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27).

More concrete, the bid of Barcelona would consist of 40 million euro cash plus incentives plus the loan of Barcelona players Martín Cáceres (21) and Bojan Krkic (18).

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona made a bid of 35 million euro while Valencia is asking 45 million euro. Barcelona and Valencia officials reportedly negotiated the whole weekend by phone after the talks between Valencia and Real Madrid were cancelled (read more here).

Fiorentina interested in Marquez

Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Fiorentina is interested in Barcelona central defender and Mexican international Rafael Márquez (30).

The Italian first division club wants to sign an experienced defender and the Mexican defender would be the first name on the list.

Because they aren't able to match the current salary of the player, Fiorentina plans to compensate that by offering Márquez, whose deal with Barcelona expires next summer, a long-term contract.

Manchester United following renewal talks Valdes

British tabloid News of the World claims that Manchester United is again keeping an eye on Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés (27) because of the difficult renewal negotiations with Barcelona (read more here).

The English champions reportedly monitored Valdés all season but expected his contract to be settled after his performances in the Champions League. United had therefore turned their attentions to Villarreal goalkeeper Diego López but could now refocus on the Catalan goalkeeper whose current contract expires at the end of next season.

Osasuna wants Pedro on loan

Navarra regional newspaper Diario de Noticias claims that Osasuna is interested in Barcelona wing attacker Pedro Rodríguez Ledesma (21).

Osasuna would already have contacted Barcelona to ask for Pedro and although Barcelona didn't reject the request, a transfer will depend on what will happen later this summer.

The Spanish first division club would like to sign Pedro on loan and wants to include in the deal a buy option at the end of the season as well as a future buy back option for Barcelona.

Barcelona manager Josep Gardiola would think a loan could be a good option for the further development of Pedro but the decision will only be made if the coach knows what will happen in cases like those of Hleb and Ribéry.

Eto'o scares off clubs with wage demands

British tabloid News of the World claims that Barcelona attacker and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28) wants to cash in on the last major contract of his career.

Eto'o reportedly asked Manchester City a month salary of one million euro net for five years. Eto'o would be negotiating himself and simply employs lawyer Josep Maria Mesalles to handle the paperwork on his contracts.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan would be among the other clubs that have inquired about his services and all have been quoted the same wages. Inter and Liverpool would already have pulled back, while United are highly unlikely to break their carefully regimented wage structure for Eto'o.

British tabloid The People claims that Eto'o rejected a 10 million euro offer by Manchester City because he didn't want to give up Champions League football. Chelsea, Liverpool and Inter Milan would be the clubs who are still interested in the striker. Barcelona would ask a transfer fee of 25 million euro° for the Cameroonian.

Manchester United confident of signing Eto'o

British newspaper The Guardian and The Times report that Manchester United is interested in Barcelona forward and Cameroon striker Eto'o (28).

The latter claims that the English champions are lining up a move for Eto'o. Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is eager to find a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo as soon as possible and would have made a firm inquiry about Eto'o.

Manchester United would be confident of getting the striker and looks like beating their city-rivals Manchester City. While City reportedly offered 30 million euro° for Eto'o and was prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League, United would hope to secure a deal for less.

Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Barcelona has offered Eto'o, whose current contract expires in 2010, a three-year renewal worth 7,5 million euro a year, while Eto'o's agent Mesalles is asking ten million euro. Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola would have set 20 July as deadline: when the pre-season starts, the coach want to know who will be his centre forward next season.

Asked about the renewal negotiations, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said in an interview with Spanish news agency EFE that he hopes to renew the contract of Eto'o: "A lot of clubs want to sign him. We'll do what we can to renew him, to extend his contract because in my opinion he's the best goalscorer in the world and a very professional player. Things depend on two parties but I believe we can reach an agreement, although not any price."

Barça B - Official: Abraham to Cadiz

Spanish second division club Cádiz officially announced today the transfer of Barcelona Atlètic midfielder Abraham González (23), who was presented this afternoon.

The Catalan midfielder, whose contract with Barcelona Atlètic expired this summer, signed a two-year contract with Cádiz, that just has promoted back to the second division.

Barcelona has confirmed the news. Abraham joined Barcelona B in the summer of 2007 arriving from Spanish third division club Terrassa and played this season with the first team in the last league game against Deportivo and in the cup game against Benidorm.

Manchester United wants to sign Toure

British tabloid The Daily Telegraph claims that Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivorian international Yaya Touré (26) is one of the five names on Manchester United's transfer target list. Touré would be valued at 17,5 million euro°.

British tabloid The Daily Mail also claims that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would like to sign Touré, while British tabloid The Sun claims that Arsenal is preparing a 17,5 million euro bid for the Ivorian midfielder. Inter Milan and AC Milan would also be interested.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is still confident about being able to renew the contract of Touré. The club would now first like to talk personally with the player to know his opinion about the renewal offer. A meeting could be scheduled next week when Touré will be back in Barcelona.

Barça B goalkeeper Mino will be promoted

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona Atlètic goalkeeper Rubén Miño (20) will be promoted to the first team next season.

Miño would replace Barcelona third goalkeeper Albert Jorquera, who is believed to leave Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

Barça B: Xavi Torres will join Malaga

Malaga regional newspaper Diario Sur claims that Spanish first division club Málaga has reached an agreement with Barcelona Atlètic defensive midfielder and captain Xavi Torres (22).

Xavi Torres would join Málaga for free thanks to the good relations between the clubs and will soon sign a five-year contract with Málaga, including a buyout clause that goes up every year.

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Málaga will announce the transfer later today. Xavi Torres is on holiday and will sign the contract though fax. His agent Raúl Verdú would have closed the deal yesterday evening. The midfielder could be presented by Málaga in the coming days.

Hleb will stay next season

Asked about the rumour that Barcelona tried to include Barcelona attacker and Belarusian international Alexander Hleb (28) in the transfer deal on Inter Milan player Ibrahimovic (read more here), the player's agent Uli Ferber has said in an interview with Italian football site Tuttomercatoweb that the player doesn't intend to leave:

"I have not been informed about this possibility, not by Inter and not by Barcelona. The wish of my client is anyhow to respect his contract with his current club."

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is meanwhile quoted by Baden-Württemberg regional newspaper Stuttgarter Zeitung as saying that Hleb will certainly stay: "We did not fight so hard to sign him last year just for that."

Marseille denies Gudjohnsen interest

Asked about the rumours linking Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30) with a move to Olympique Marseille (read more here), Marseille president Pape Diouf has denied the interest in an interview with Monaco radio station RMC:

"There is no contact at all with Gudjohnsen."

Eto'o could have deal with Milan for 2010

Italian sports site Sportmediaset claims that Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28) will most probably join AC MIlan next summer when his contract with Barcelona expires.

Milan transfer adviser Ernesto Bronzetti would have made the first contacts with the player's agent Josep Maria Mesalles, after which Milan officials got involved with the permission of new AC Milan manager Leonardo. An agreement could be reached but cannot be officially announced until next January. This would also be the main reason why Eto'o doesn't want to be included in a deal on Inter striker Ibrahimovic.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Eto'o is in Barcelona between two international games with Cameroon to analyze his future. Sources from the entourage of the player denied that Eto'o would have met with Inter officials at an airport in Paris when he was travelling back from Africa to Barcelona earlier this week.

Asturias regional newspaper El Comercio claims that Sporting Gijón is interested in Barcelona Atlétic central defender and Spanish youth international Alberto Botía (20).

Sporting would like to sign the Spanish player on loan and hopes that Barcelona Atlètic coach and former Sporting player Luis Enrique can help to reach an agreement.

Barça B: Real Sociedad wants B players on loan

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Spanish second division club Real Sociedad is interested in several Barcelona Atlètic players.

Real Sociedad sports director Lorenzo Juarros "Loren" would already have talked to Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain to ask about the situation of Barcelona Atlètic midfielders Xavi Torres (22), Abraham (23) and Thiago (18) and wing attacker Jeffren (21 - picture).

Because of the bad financial situation of the club, Sociedad is looking to sign youth players from big clubs on loan. All four players mentioned would also have received offers from Spanish first division and/or foreign clubs. Basque regional newspaper El Diario Vasco claims that Sociedad is especially interested in a one-year loan of Jeffren.

Deal with Inter on Ibrahimovic

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona and Inter Milan have reached an agreement on the transfer of Inter Milan forward and Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic (27).

After continued negotiations over the past days, the transfer fee would be 10 million euro° plus Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28).

Barcelona would also be close to find a personal agreement with Ibrahimovic, who wants to join Barcelona because this would give him more chances to win the Champions League. It's not yet clear if Eto'o will accept to be included in the deal.

French sports paper L'Equipe unconfirmedly claims that Eto'o and his agent Josep Maria Mesalles travelled to Milan on Monday to meet with Inter officials. Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed earlier this week that Eto'o has asked Inter a fee of 10 million euro for five years plus a bonus of 15 million euro to sign for the Italian champions.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Eto'o flew to Paris to negotiate with Inter Milan but that Eto'o could at this moment be closer to city rivals AC Milan. Barcelona would ask a transfer fee of 40 million euro for Eto'o. El Mundo Deportivo nevertheless claims that Barcelona won't ask a high fee and is ready to accept any decent bid.
