OFFICIAL: Ronaldinho to Milan

Barcelona and AC Milan have yesterday officially announced the transfer of Barcelona playmaker and Brazilian international Ronaldinho (28) to Milan, subject to medical tests later today.

Just before midnight, Barcelona put out an
official statement on its website: "AC Milan and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle over the transfer of Ronaldinho to the Italian club. The Brazilian will take a medical examination on Wednesday in Milan.

The principle of agreement finally established a transfer fee of 21 million euros, plus 4 million more in the form of performance-related bonuses depending on AC Milan’s qualification, in future years, for the Champions League.

Director of football, Txiki Beguiristain, announced that this agreement in principle was reached thanks to the player renouncing his right to 15% of the fee."

Milan had then already confirmed the transfer on its website: "AC Milan and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ronaldinho to the Rossoneri's club. Tomorrow the player will be in Milan for the medical and to sign the contract which will tie him to Milan until June 30th 2011."

Ronaldinho arrived in Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain five years ago. With Barcelona, Ronaldinho won two Spanish leagues in 2005 and 2006, one Champions League in 2006 and two Spanish super cups in 2005 and 2006.

pep's opinion:
that seems like a sure 25, which was the absolute minimum, i guess. if he can get back in shape, i can see this work. pirlo, gattuso and flamini in midfield, one striker up front, kaka in a free role from the right and ronaldinho in a free role from the left. on paper, that's a champions league winning combination.

a legend leaves us. on his own he took the team from the worst crisis in recent decades (both economically and sporting) to that magical may night in paris. ronaldinho was the key figure of what was undoubtedly the best team of the third millenium so far. at his top ronaldinho was magic. when he received the ball on his left wing, you knew something was going to happen.

we'll keep the good things, so thanks for everything and good luck to him. before you had kubala and cruijff. now you have kubala, cruijff and ronaldinho. visca el barça.

I had hoped we can accept the City offer which was higher but it seems like Dinho didn't want to go there because that would have been the dead end of his career...

anyway, Milan will most likely qualify for the CL anyway...so a fee of around 25 mio. is still solid considering Ronaldinho has turned into a chubby 'turd.

But I thank him for everything he has done here. He was a difference maker. Barca was down as he came and he made us the best team in the world...and we slided back into a crisis as soon as he lost his shape.

But its a pitty that such a great player loses all passion and motivation and goes clubbing 24/7. I wish him all the best, altho somehow I don't want him to break through in Milan and screw Barca.

For me Ronaldinho is the greatest player ever. He tops Maradona and Pele when he's in form. I wish him all the best and hope he returns to his previous form (even if it won't be in a Barca shirt).

Milan are such lucky bastards getting him for so cheap! :(

it seems to me as the best deal closed by Barca board since a long time for many resons,
First, we bought dinho for 30 M and we won with him La liga "twice", CL,and the spanish cup "twice", and now we are selling him for 25M!!
Second, after pushing Milan to sign him Barca now probably the only Buyer for Adebyor in the market because AC cannot afford to pay for him anymore after the 25M and this will help us in reducing his price further. SMART,isn't it??
third, Knowing that the player renounced 15% of his right, and after simple calculations we conclude that the difference between Ac milan price and Man. city's offer is around 2.5M only!!
Brilliant move, as I see it
Good Luck Dinho and thank you for every thing.

for me he was one of the greatest players i've seen in my lifetime, only remember maradonna post 1990! what he did for barca was magnificent, i'm glad it all turned out that everyone left on happy terms. maybe the milan fans will treat him better than some of our fans.
anyway that chapters closed now on to guardiola's era, and hopefully more success

Ronaldinho was the greatest Barca player ever. I will truly miss him and I hate Guardiola Txiki and Laporta for selling him.(Especially for so little.)

I also would like to thank Ronaldinho for the unparallaled amount of success he brought to the club upon his arrival. He truly was a one of a kind player. I don't think you needed to be a Barcelona fan to feel saddened at his sudden and dramatic fall from grace. Wether he can ever recapture his form is up for debate, but it was clear that it wasn't going to happen as long as he remained at Barcelona. As a fan of his, and more importantly as a fan of the game itself I hope he does rediscover his magic. Even though his time at Barcelona is now history, his accomplishments won't soon be forgotten. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest players ever to don the 'blaugrana'.

Thank you Ronnie for bringing such excitement and joy back to the game of football. You were truly one of those players that kept fans at the edge of their seats. Your stardom was transcendental as millions watched you who didn't even consider themselves Barcelona fans, for the rare chance that they might witness a form of brilliance not soon duplicated in their lifetime, and be able to recount it to their grandchildren one day.

Wether you were for or against Ronnie leaving, I think we can all agree that today is a sad day in Barcelona.

I do agree totaly that is a sad day for Barca! Ronnie didn't deserve that kind of treatment from Barca including some fans. I'm a Barca fan and really waiting to see them in August in US, but inside myself definitely something will miss watching them without Ronnie. Wish him all luck to Milan and thank you for your beautiful game!
