Robinho agent admits contact with Barcelona

Asked about the rumours linking Real Madrid left winger and Brazilian international Robinho (24) with Barcelona (read more here), the agent of the player Wagner Ribeiro confirmed last night in an interview with Spanish radio station Onda Cero that Barcelona has shown interest:

"On Monday a person from Barcelona, a board member, has contacted me. He asked if Robinho could be interested in playing for Barcelona. I said to him that he should talk to Madrid president Calderón and that I could do nothing.

If a deal with Chelsea is already difficult, you can imagine how it would be with Barcelona. Given the rivalry between the two clubs, I think it's very unlikely Madrid will let him go to Barcelona. While we have at this moment a firm offer from Chelsea, we only have a vague question from Barcelona. Robinho for sure wants to know more about his future before leaving to Beijing for the Olympics."

In an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1, Ribeiro added that Robinho, whose contract with Madrid expires in the summer of 2010, would consider a move: "Every player would like to join Barcelona, just like every player would like to join Madrid or any other great club in the world."

Spanish sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona sources have told the paper that it is improbable that Barcelona would help to financice a big part of the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo by paying a high transfer fee for Robinho.

Asked about the rumours, Barcelona board member Rafael Yuste said to Catalan sports paper Sport that there's nothing to talk about: "All players who are on the market can be interesting, but Robinho isn't on the market, so there's nothing to talk about." The paper recalls that there exists some kind of 'pact of no agression' between the two clubs.

Pep, what is that nonsense about Eto'o leaving for Ouzbekistan? Are those idiots prepared to pay 40 million for a 6 month deal???
I'm still hopeful that he stays as he's better than all the other potential signings (Drogba, Abebayor, Robinho, Tevez, Berbatov etc)

If Barça really sign Robinho, they will become the fantastic trio as Robinho-Henry-Messi, after Ronaldinho-Eto'o-Messi..
I believe Robinho will become the 5th Brazilian to win the Fifa World Footballer award if he moves to Barça!

totally agree with the comment above....nothing more needs to be said

Robinho's owners have said that no way it will happen. Period. As we all cited, there's the non-aggression pact in that we don't chase theirs, and vice versa.

That Uzbek thing is just crazy, but sort of a smart move for Eto'o. Go there for a year, tear it up, make gobs of money, then sign somewhere else without a big, fat transfer fee hanging over your head.

Not sure about Eto'o being so much better than all those dudes. I'd keep him over Tevez. Robinho isn't really a striker. And Drogba nailed 6 goals in 11 Champions League appearances last year. Adebayor pipped 3 goals in 7 games. Eto'o? 1 goal in 6 games.

Now, Champions League is interesting because it's the best of the best, right? A striker can't fatten up on the likes of newly promoted sides and whatnot, so it's an interesting statistic.

I guess this must be "fun" to discuss just to pass the time, but the reality is that Robinho's not coming to Barcelona, period, end of story!

There are too many obstacles and factors to consider with such a move, far beyond the fact that he plays for THAT team. If some of the reports are to be true, and THAT team turned down 40mil for him, you can bet that they would expect Barcelona to pay at LEAST 50mil for him. That is just utter nonsense! For that price Barcelona could land Aguero and call it a day! Would you dish out 40-50mil for a player who physically may or may not hold up for an entire season? often dissapears from action for stretches during games and loses focus easily? - and last but not least likes to throw tantrums and is temperamental? If you say "YES" to the above then I have some prime real estate in the Everglades you may wish to consider.

if they turn down offer from chelsea(60 milion euro) just imagin how many they want from rival club,barcelona...by the way they say that he cost more than 60

i think barca must pay 80 milion euros if they want him in camp nou

I have no doubt that if Robinho joins Barca he will shine the way he never did with that rival team. I tend to be a realist about these things and realize its next to impossible that he wears a Barca shirt next year, still, it is out there that Barca want him, and by now he knows hes wanted here.

Ronaldinhos departure was sad and dissapointing, at least for me as he is STILL one of the best players in the world. But if we can sign Robinho then he can bring back that same Brazilian "Magic" that Dinho took with him to Milan. We need that Magic at the Camp! We all know that Robinho is not a striker, more of a left wing, but still a very dangerous threat when hes inside that box. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

We already got Hleb, so why do we waste money on him? Hleb is good enough.
