Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Palmeiras central defender and Brazilian international Henrique Adriano Buss (21) (picture, on the right), who will sign for Barcelona, won't be officially presented as new Barcelona player by the club.
Henrique, for whom Barcelona will pay 8 million euro° (plus a possible 2 million euro variables) will arrive next week in Barcelona. After the medical tests, he will sign his contract and immediately travel to Leverkusen, where he will play on loan next season (read more here).
Barcelona plans to wait until the player will be fully part of the first team sqaud to officially present him to the fans and the press. This could happen next summer. Because the squad will next week be in Scotland, Henrique won't even be able to talk with Barcelona manager Guardiola.
To gain some time, a Leverkusen doctor will assist during the medical tests, which will enable the player to immediately start working with the German team after his arrival there.
The paper claims that Leverkusen sports director Rudi Völler has pushed hard for Henrique, hoping that he will perform as well as his compatriots Lúcio (now Bayern Munich) and Juan (now AS Roma) have recently done for the Germans.

8 million euro =

It is positive that Barca's plans are long term but I am disappointed because that only applies for defenders. We should build a supply of at least 4-5 more promising players and either put them in Barca B or loan them out. One of my concerns is center midfielder / playmaker position. In case of Xavi's injury Barca could easily surrender their upcoming matches. Maybe not really :) but in any case, we would be in a big trouble. Same goes for our striking and wing options - Messi / Henry.
Bottom line - depth; yes, but not only Valdes' side of pitch.
Considering Henrique, I really wanted to see one other young defender full of potential in Barca's shirt but no it seems like impossible. He is young (22), tall (192), extremely strong and fast, excellent header and even scoring goals isn't obscurity for him. He would tremendously fit Barca's shirt. His name is Vincent Kompany.
I know, it is important to keep being real, because - 1. Kompany is pretty much matured in Belgium and Germany and it is question if he would accept loan deal because he couldn't enter is squad immediately upon arrival and - 2. His price would be at least double of Henrique's.
In any case, suggestion to Barca's board is to have an eye on this guy. Especially if Oleguer (as it is rumored) leaves (Ajax?) and Gaby's injury become a serious issue. Of course, if some other European giant don't share my opinion about Vincent, which is also likely, and act faster.
It's disgusting to see how the club, in particulary Txiki and Pep, treat a new player that has just been signed.
No welcome at all and the trainer don't even bother to talk to the player before sedning him out on loan. Pathetic behaviour, but one is not suprised by now.
Txiki dimssiò!
anonymous,
I think it's actually a good thing that they're not presenting him now. It's not a matter of respect, but letting him get training with his new team as soon as possible.
Think this loan will be brilliant for Henrique. Juan and Lucio are both great defenders and got their major breakthrough in Leverkusen and hopefully Henrique will be the next Lucio or better.
anonymous: how can you say its disgusting why present him as a player when he wont even be playing in our team or be in our squad as of this season and your very naive of you believe wat the papers print..
To the 4th poster:
Perhaps you don't fully appreciate the logistics of the transfer. We are signing Henrique at a time when the first team is going to be on tour in Scotland. As part of the deal, however, we loan him out to a club who wants the player as soon as possible. There's no time to wait until the club is back in Barca so that Henrique can make friends with everyone. Leverkeusen has a right to their player under the contract.
I have no doubt that had Henrique been signed at the beginning of the summer, when the club was not on tour, then the club would have been happy to arrange for Henrique to meet Pep and the rest of the team.
Chill out and relax a bit.
