Despite all criticism, Laporta's summer activity, this year finnaly, make sense. Some major goals are fulfilled:
1. Overhaul was done, expecialy in defense (Piquet, Caceres, Alves, Henrique?)
2. Needed riddances were also done (Ezquerro, Thuram, Edmilson...)
3. Out-of form and unmotivated players were off-loaded (R10, Deco, Zambrotta)
4. Some crucial weak-points are now corrected (defenders height, speed and age)
One thing that I regret is not signing a younger defensive midfielder (De Rossi, Essien), but options were really limited so I don't judge to Barca's board. Besides, Keita is undoubted quality in that position, despite being 28.
Considering prices, no claim should be addressed to board because neither player was overpaid, considering market terms. R10 could be sold for more than 20M € but AC Milan took advantage of his intention to sign for them so not much could be done. Don't forget that, in May, he will be 29. The question of Eto's situation remains to be seen but, as time goes by, it is more likely that he will stay one more year with Barca which is not a bad thing.
Another important note - only one midget was brought, and since that is Dani Alves, height really should be a problem.
If any new signings are about to be done, I expect some fresh blood with great potential and suitability to Barca's play. In other words, bringing Thiago Neves seems like a excellent deal, especially if the price is in range of 12-14M €. That would conclude this transfer window in great manner.
We can easily sit back and see what can Pep do of given squad but we also have every right to expect much.
This transfers will much ease the summer 2009, since we will (most probably) have to sign fewer players -
1. Worthy replacement for Valdes (young and tall keeper full of potential - I suggest Manuel Neuer) 2. Left fullback, because this is probably Silvinho's last year (someone between Clichy, Emmanuelsson, Vargas abd Zhirkov)
3. star signing in attack department (Aguero, Benzema or even Balloteli).

I am perfectly satisfied with transfer activities,.balanced and clinical.
if i dont want to repeat previous names i add,for the striker position, if no tall strikers option, i think crespo could be a cheap(free)/short term and experienced option with zero risk. Even if eto stay, getting crespo still be a good idea.
if ito leave, i think barca can think of santa cruz he really impressed me last season and for his price tag, i think he is a realistic target in the madness of this year market place.

the only thing I am waiting to c is how will pepe be able to keep all the players satisfied, barca has a big squad now of first team players, that provide perfect depth, but at the same time require a creative rotation system, or else complains will start to roll like a snow ball.
