Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona centre and right back defender Oleguer Presas (28) could leave this summer for Greek top club Panathinaikos.
Former Barcelona assistant coach Henk ten Cate could have reached an agreement with the Greek club to become the new Panathinaikos manager as of next season. During the negotiations he would have put the name of Oleguer forward as a possible reinforcement for the team.
Panthinaikos could be preparing a two million euro° bid for Oleguer. The Catalan defender, who has said he prefers to stay at Barcelona (read more here), will be offered an economically very interesting contract.
New Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola is counting on the player and wants to keep him in the squad. But if the offer will become more concrete, it will be looked at by the technical staff.

If he leaves, who would be Alves's backup? Caceres?
I agree with the commentator above. If Barca sell Oleguer for 2mil, they may have to spend twice if not three times more for a dependable backup for Alves unless they are considering Caceres filling in that position? If Caceres is not an option then who else could Barca get to fill in on the cheap?
Fali? Or someone else from the B team ... everyone is better than Oleguer.
I don't understand the "hate" from football "experts" and Barca supporters towards Oleguer. He is a decent player, definatly not good but he played fairly well when we won the double, can play in two positions and he has an enormous heart for the club.
I would only let him leave for a decent (more than the 2 mill mentioned) amount of money. He may not be the best player in the world but he is a local boy with tremendous heart for the club. Therefore, keeping him adds a little more character and flavour to the club.If we keep buying players and not grooming them out of our academy,we will become like chelsea or madrid and would not be mes que un club anymore.
