Euro 2008: Romania-France (group C)

0-0. Poor start by the Frenchmen. The team lacked creativity and it's really incredible that the coach held on to two defensive midfielders during 90 minutes. Benzema didn't convince.

Lilian Thuram (captain) and Eric Abidal started the game and played the whole match. Henry has been injured and didn't play.

Solid defensive performances by both Barcelona players. Thuram again showed that his problem at Barcelona wasn't his age but the system. Abidal added very little in attack.

Hey Pep, how come u kept quiet about the performance of our possible signing, Mr Invisible Karim Benzema? Worst player for France!

Also note that Domenech is a jackass. He cost Les Bleus the World Cup by starting Barthez over Coupet. No way Coupet allows that cross to reach Materazzi.

Similarly, the two holding mids was crazy, as was (in my opinion) leaving Trezeguet off the side in favor of Anelka. It's a case of bad or worse, but Anelka is the worse in this case. I'm sure Chelsea is ruing the day they signed him.

I'm worried about them coming out of the group, frankly, unless they can beat Italy, which isn't likely since they can't score any freakin' goals. Ribery was made invisible by the team's tactics. Vieira is also a big miss. With him in there, the midfield is a very different place.

Zidane be damned. The Cup went south when Patrick came out with the hamstring injury.

I said "Benzema didn't convince". That says it all, I guess ;).

As for for Malouda: he is really not suited to be our left winger, he just don't have the speed.

Anelka ànd Gomis in and leaving out Trezeguet is just not right. Last time they reached the final (with some luck) so he got away with that.

If they can beat the Netherlands (which is possible) they take the lead of the group, so guess everything is still open.
