Talks with West Ham on Gudjohnsen continue

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona and West Ham United are holding talks about a transfer of Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30).

Because the English Premier League club doesn't have the funds to buy Gudjohnsen, they have asked to loan the player next season (read more here) and both clubs would now have to reach an agreement on who will pay which part of the salary.

If Barcelona nevertheless doesn't sign another midfielder this summer, Gudjohnsen, whose contract expires at the end of this season, could in the end stay with Barcelona.

after watching thiago and dos santos in gamper game i think guddy should leave to give more minutes to the future.he cant help the team in any way.if we are hit by a maelstorm of bad luck and all our midfielders get injured i wouldnt mind even rueda instead of guddy

Seriously, do you guys think we'll get anyone with one week left? None of the discussions are in the final stages. Unless Txiki is working Maxwell-style, I can't see any more worthwhile transfer.

Lets see now. His contract expires next summer and still we will send him on loan? And not just that, we will also pay part of his salary. Get real for god sake. It's better to give him away for free this week instead of loan him out because he leaves for free next summer anyway. Why pay for his salary then?

If nobody wants to pay his salary (even when they sign him for free), then it doesn't help giving him away for free...

People here said that we were going to get money for him. I said that: no, we are Barcelona, we are not like other clubs who get good money for the players they sell (even their backups or unwanted players), we usually don't get any money for our players, and once again we see this. We pay such ridiculous wages, so no one wants to pay any transfer fees for our players. It looks like we even have to pay some part of his salary in addition to letting him go for free. And Gudjohnsen has a good reputation in England. Madrid get 7m euros for Javi Garcia, we have to pay to get rid of Gudjohnsen. We see this over and over again with us. Our wage structure is simply too high. A very bad situation.
