Messi, no surprise there. I was just worried Xavi and Iniesta split the votes to hand Gerrard an unlikely win.

Out of topic...

Anyone from M'sia or Brunei? What's up with Astro going to commercials just when Messi was about to be nominated.

I've always sense their biased attitude towards Barca in favour of RM and MU but this just proves it.

van der Sar thinking "uuhh shiiiiiiiiiiit"

No surprises with Xavi and Messi winning, but Terry winning is a joke he's crap Pique was a beast last season he should've won, also tought big Vic should've won goalkeeper of the year he was just as important to winning everything as Messi, Xavi and Iniesta

@ nozbleed. Having only Astro to rely on, there's no running from EPL but this is just low.

How many times have Barca matches been relegated as delayed showings in favor of RM matches? Damn.. it pisses me that they would show RM friendly with Dorthmund or something the other day when Barca have the more important Spanish Super cup. You're right, Astro sucks.

Glad Messi and Xavi won and rightfully so! Barca having managed to dismantle sides left and right, I thought it'd only be fair, if Barca were to be rewarded at least 3/4 awards. VDS is a great goalie, but Valdes had a better year, and thats a fact! In the final alone, VDS conceited two, while Valdes triumped! As for Terry, clearly Pique was superior in every way you look at it based on last seasons performances. Pique claimed his status as among the werlds best CBs, and I think he should have been rewarded! Terry let in far too many goals, and how hard can it be defending, when you have 10 men inside your goalie box? Buj, thats one reason why I dislike EPL, most of the time, they overhype and overate their players and never give credit to those that have earned it! Vamos Barca!

trebble, clubfootballer of the year, forward of the year, midfielder of the year, 7 players out of barcas camp @ rome, cup against atletic

we need a new name for barca.. maybe we should give real madrid 94 millions for the name galacticos... they will need the money in the future more than we do...

Don't forget Piqué was only outstanding in the last couple of months of last season. Before that he wasn't really convincing.

mike in africa said...

agree with fcbee, pique really improved tremendously in the 2nd half of the season. he was not convincing at all in the many games he played early on. hope he will be able to continue the form he showed in the last couple months of last season.

well an epl player not winning anything that can never happen after all platini getting his banks full with their bribe money. pique is way better but to even less teh arguments teh uefa officials conveniently omitted puyol and alves. so that there can be no arguments. god its frustrating to see these epl shits getting name they dont even deserve.

tero said...

If Puyol had been nominated,he could've won...Pique is still young,he has lots of time to claim trophies

groga said...

Stop whining about the supposed EPL "bribes". You're sinking as low as the EPL fans who said we bribed the Chelsea-Barça referee.

rahul said...

@groga saying it is different but having ghost goals, baised decision, non existing penalties, always refs on ur side, easy draws for 6 years is too much of a coincidence its almost a proof.

Both Valdes and Pique should have won, especially Valdes. Valdes had a better season than VDS!!

groga said...

I advise a shrink, rahul.

all these conspiracy theories are shit really!

Sorry, but I tend to agree with both Rahul and Groga! Both have merit claims, but dont forget, we are ALL Barca fans here!

w/e man either some of you are too blind to see it or just dont want to.

Set up your own blog where you explain your conspiracy theories to the world, infiltrate in the uefa ball picking committee or whatever, but leave us alone.

It's also an aggregation of effort, rather than one or two matches. John Terry is class, all day and all night. And I believe he was the only Chelsea player to visit our locker room to congratulate us, post match. Says a lot about his class.

I do like how people go from saying Valdes should be sold, to expressing outrage that he wasn't keeper of the year. (Not in specific, obviously, but as a general--not unanimous by any means--sentiment.)

yuti said...

I probably would ahve picked valdes for the goalkeeper, but the rest are just the logical choices.

Valdes' problem is also that he's no international so the voters mostly only know him from the CL performances and are influenced by media reports.

agree with kevs. just annoying tho how terry becomes default best defender i mean come on there are others out there.

congrats messi and xavi. too bad for my other boy iniesta. he deserves a category all his own.

@ Kxevin

You make a good point about people wanting Valdes sold a few months ago and now wanting him to get Keeper of the year, I'm a HUGE fan of Valdes and have been fed up with people critising him and wanting him sold sure he's made mistakes but what keeper hasn't??? He's in my own opinion the best keeper in the world.....yes I said best in the world and the stats are there to prove it over the past 5 or so years the only keeper that comes close to him for matches won saves made cleen sheets etc. is also a product of our youth systhem Liverpool's Pep Reina, and its a joke that Valdes hasn't even got 1 cap for Spain he's been much better than Iker in the Liga for years now, how many times has Valdes beat him to keeper of the year in spain now???

Joshua said...

whoever didnt expect this definetely doesnt know the game. see its easier to play like ronaldo than it is to play like messi. you could practice those legovers and freekicks and get them but to have the ball glued to your foot past seven men and a goalkeeper really has to be from your inner must gut. Congratulations on the homie.
