Barcelona moving for Arsenal trio

British newspaper The Observer claims that Barcelona have placed Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (21), Arsenal winger and Dutch international Robin van Persie (25) and Arsenal forward and Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor (24) on a list of planned summer transfers.

Robin van Persie would be a priority target for Barcelona. An offer of cash plus former Arsenal player Alexander Hleb (27) would have been rejected last month (read more
here) because Arsenal is still angered by the manner in which the Belarus midfielder left the club last summer.

Barcelona would nevertheless believe that they can persuade Arsenal to sell Van Persie in the summer when the player enters the final twelve months of his contract. The Dutchman has less than one and a half year left on his present deal and is stalling on an extension. Van Persie is understood to be concerned about Arsenal's failure to compete for trophies in recent times.

Barcelona would meanwhile also be working on approaches for Adebayor and Cesc. Adebayor would be Guardiola's first choice as centre forward if Barcelona player Samuel Eto'o leaves in the summer, while Cesc remains a long-term target for the club. Barcelona does not consider it possible to capture all three in a single transfer window but expects Arsenal to release at least one of them to raise funds for the reconstruction of their own squad.

British tabloid News of the World also claims that Barcelona is interested Cesc, Van Persie and Adebayor and that the three players will leave if Arsenal doesn't qualify for Champions League football this season. A source close to Arsenal is quoted as saying: "There is a real problem developing because the big names are bemused at the way things are going.

If Arsenal finish outside the top four, there’s no way the likes of Van Persie, Adebayor and Fabregas will hang around. They love playing for Arsene Wenger but they also want to win things. And, as things stand, they can’t see that happening. It’s not about how much money they can earn, it’s about winning trophies for these guys. They want to see some ambition and they want to see the club buying the right kind of players."

Adebyor is useless, don´t understand why Barca want him.

Van Persie may be the only real target for this season as a LW player, as I am sure that Henry won't be part of the team for the next season.
Cesc not now maybe later.
For Ade I think Eto'o will stay so no room in here for him.

And somehow off topic, Pep i read a news that barca are planning to wear pink shirts next season. If we could have some photos or smth similiar would be appreciated.
Thanks ...

Robin van Persie Suckz !
9/10 matches hez on d bench, injured. His body language is so poor, no sense of patience whatsoever!
Why this guy of all the people ?
There is Silva, Aguero & Ribery as options.
Haven't we learned enough from Hleb transfer ? I Rest my case: Arsenal players jus dont fit in !

Emmanuel Adebayor ??
Yea ..... rite !
A fluke season last yr earned him some 30 goals. Hav u seen him play this season ?
I dunno what to say.

Cesc to barca would be just awesomee. But i feel he ll prefer staying in Arsenal for 1 more season. Wenger has given him the Captain's band.

Adebayor < Eto'o, Villa.

Van Persie < Silva, Guardado.

Cesc < Don't need him, we have Xavi.

What is it with Abidal? Does he actually like the club? Warning off Benzema and Ribery joining us? reardless of whether we want/need them, seems a strange thing to say about the club you're at. He had a downer about the training last season. I know what he's saying in regard to the players' development etc, but still, he's rarely very positive about the club. Playing better this season though, isn't he? The angry bugger. His club picture is hilarious and ridiculous, worse than last seasons. Smile, Eric!

about abidal: don't believe anything a newspaper quotes

hleb isn't that bad, he always leaves the defender behind. You need players like that. last year against man u in the semi final, only messi could get away from his defender. that was the main problem in that match! I would like to see him play as a central midfielder once. that's his most natural position. He played his best matches with arsenal over there too..

I also don't see why we should trade eto'o for ade.. he scores less, works not half as much as samuel does.

Van persie is good but i prefer others. Why wouldn't henry be in barcelona? maybe it's the right time to sell but he isn't playing bad! I don't know other left wing attackers who score as much as he does!

I think this is Brittish sensational journalism. There's now way Barcelona are interested in Adebayor any longer.

british crap rumors, only fabregas could play in barca from that team, and he is too pricey to get,we have other targets and guardiola is to clever to give so much cash for bad or injury prone players

About Abidal's comments on Benzema and Ribery.

Sky Sports seems to have picked up the story. Might be something to it then. If that is the case its not a smart move by Abidal.

I don't think Cesc is a genuine possibility because of his price tag. Arsenal would not cut any deals, and the socios will not support an enormous transfer fee for a Masia product. Madrid is the more likely destination (as shocking as that would be).

RVP and Adebayor are the much more realistic options. However, both seem to be pretty thorny characters. I've heard RVP has grown up quite a bit, but Dutch wingers can't seem to stay healthy.

Guardiola really wants to sign a target man, and there aren't many true 9s with quality. Adebayor has all of the physical talent plus strong technique. I think playing in Spain would bring out his best.

If Guardiola want a good target man, instead of Adebayor get Llorente from Bilbao. He is big, strong and technical. He got selected for the spanish national team and keeps players like Raul and Bojan out there for now. + he would not be as expensive and maybe would not mind fighting for his spot in the first eleven.

Young , talented, strong and tall with a real scoring instinct. Spanish and relatively cheap... Sounds much better than Adebayor no?

None of them...we dont need Cesc now..as good as he is. where exactly is he going to play?
Ade and RVP..are the poster boys for incosistency.
hell no....

Hleb isn't that bad. He's made quite a few Messi-like plays. I'm not saying he's great or anywhere near Messi, but he is definately a very solid player. I sincerely hope he stays.

I agree with Brambo 100%. There is also another target striker I'd love to see wearing the Blaugrana jersey: Guiza! He's not enjoying Fenerbahçe right now.

Adebayor would be a weak signing.
Great club should sign good players.
Forlan,Villa are perfect to barca style. It would be the end of an era if Eto'o leaves and Adebayor arrives.
Please No to Adebayor.
It is better to allow a barca fan and let him watch from the bench than buying Adebayor.
