The joke is that there's a Madrid conspiracy: they call-up a lot of Barça players for the national team and then they injure them so they cannot play anymore for Barcelona, which would benefit Madrd.
Fernando Hierro is a former Madrid player and now at the Spanish federation and del bosque is a former Madrid manager and now the national team coach.
