German research and consultancy company Sport+Markt says that Barcelona is the most popular club across Europe.
The company conducted for the second consecutive year a survey of 9600 football fans between 15 and 69 years in 16 European countries.
Despite a little decline, Barcelona stays on top of the ranking with over 44 million fans across the European continent.

1. Barcelona: 44,2 million
2. Real Madrid: 41 million
3. Manchester United: 37,6 million
4. Chelsea: 25,6 million
5. Zenit Saint Petersburg: 23,9 million
6. Liverpool: 23 million
7. Arsenal: 21,3 million
8. AC Milan: 21 million
9. Bayern Munich: 19,8 million
10. Juventus: 17,5 million

That's statistics, guys...
It's a survey, like a poll...they project their data onto what they deem the whole 'football fans' population.
that's why barca is més que un club
now we have to make that 10000 fans =)
I may not be the best to explain it, but this is more a statistic technique used.
Lets say we have 100 Million football fan in europe (just an assumption)
You cant visit them all to calculate how many of them support a certain team. So instead you take a slice (sample that represent them taking in consediration age, education, nationality and lot of other factors) so the opinion of this group represent relatively the general opinion of the 100 million.
The sample here is 9600 person, if from the 9600 person 4243 fan said they support Barcelona, then you do something similar to this:
for every 9600--->4243 support barcelona
For 100Million--->how many support barcelona
result: 100X4243/9600
the answer is almost 44,2 Millions
It's just like TV viewing ratings.
Only a sample of the population have a little box connected to their TV that records the viewing behaviour of the people in that house, which is used to make an estimate of the total viewing ratings in a country.
its good to see us above manu and al other EPL clubs.. suckers here in India have no eyes for anything else except EPL..
And its good to see the number of barca fans in EPL- dominated countries on the rise..
