Bid for Cesc and Van Persie being planned

British tabloid The Daily Star claims that Barcelona is interested in signing Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (21) and Arsenal winger and Dutch international Robin van Persie (25).

Barcelona would be confident that they can sign the two Arsenal players after having successfully completed the transfer of their former team-mate Alexander Hleb earlier this year.

While Fabregas has always been on Barcelona's wish list, the tabloid now claims that Van Persie has been added following a meeting between Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain over the weekend, with a Barcelona source being quoted as saying: "This is not the first time that Barça have looked at Van Persie, but there is a feeling that he has now matured and is ready for the move."

Barcelona would be planning to make a 50 million euro° package bid for the two players during next summer's transfer window. Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré (25) could be used as part of an exchange deal with Arsenal.

Excellent players both of them although i'm worried about van Persie's frequent injuries.
If they both are healthy we will be unbeatable.

Van persie is overrated and he is always injured...I bet you that before summer he will injure himself again .... That cunt sucks bigtime X(

Fabregas ok but the price is too high
in my opinion we don't need van persie we need aguero and do NOT LET TOURE YAYA the "Tower of Power" leave Barca.

ha ha ha.... we gonna destroy arsenal don't we?
both players are really good.
But Van Persie often gets injuries
and we don't need cesc now.

we dont destroy arsenal we are making them a team... we buy all their older players and give them tons of cash in order for them to invest in young players.

there are better choices out there.fabregas is not needed especially for that price tag,and van persie is a great player but silva should be the priority even if he costs 15million more than vp

anyway its a crappy rumor from an english paper what do you expect

Forget van Persie, he's overrated.
Cesc for the "space besides Xavi", the horse as Ramzi calls it.
Imagine Sergi behind Cesc and Xavi, fantastic. And with Valdes, Pique, Puyol, Iniesta, Messi and Bojan, it would be pure Masia.

Post scriptum
Also Kun for the offense and Behrami for the left back.

I hope my asrsenal freinds dont see these. They would almost kill me. But I believ there are better options for the left side. We might not get them, but theres no harm in trying..especially as most players would love to be part of us, we could try Ribery, Silva, Di Maria.. and cecs, lets leave it till hes free, I mean free transfer. Flamini left them on a free, so why not cecs, especially if he really wants to come back "home"

I hope this is just a rumour. Does this paper also speculate on where we plan to get the money for these players ? Cesc has already been discussed way too much. I dont think he is even worthy of all the speculation that surrounds him. Van Persie is certainly van Basten-esque and immensely talented also possessing a wicked turn but buying him means having 3 players n a separate medical squad to cover for him.

No way arsenal will let anyone of them go. They are two of the most important players for their team, and both have the future in front of them Only way cesc will leave is if we pay the buy out clause and he accepts it, but i think he will stick around for at least two more years. Wenger has given him enormous responsibility, whereas in barca he would have a hard time competing for a starting place. He just renewed until 2014 and is one of arsenals captains. No way he is leaving this year.

As for Van Persie, im even not that interested. He's more of a Madrid-player.

And the way Yaya is playing now i wouldnt trade him for the both of them.

Not bloody likely. Why would Van Persie come and sit (like Hleb) and Ya Ya is not leaving. Maybe Keita, but not Ya Ya.

Do we really need both these two players?? I would rather spend 50 million euro on Ribery and Aguero. Ribery is by far the best option the left and Aguero linking up with Messi is 'Arguably' (please don't crucify me) better than Cesc linking up with Xavi mainly because we have midfield cover with Iniesta, Bousquets, Yaya, Keita, Hleb etc.

kun, kun, kun, for the umpteenth time kun! we dont need fabregas. he is xavis sub in the national team already. do you think he'll accept that in barca too? give it a couple of years until xavis form declines. cesc is young, be patient. plus if we get kun, that will give us an unstopable offence

i'm for fabregas, sorry. i don't accept the critiques saying he wouldn't fit in technically because that's obviously bullshit if you've actually seen him play. he switches flanks and is as efficacious on the left as he is on the right. as for the national team aragones used a 4-4-2 with villa & torres up top, senna behind the back 4 along mvp xavi, & silva & iniesta on the flanks. there was no room for him in his system. they CAN & HAVE played well together. fabregas would be great in the "deco" spot. dudjonsen has heart don't get me wrong; but that's about it. keita has been filling in in that position but only out of necessity due to iniesta being out. i think a right footed player should be on the left as they'd have a proclivity to cut in to the center of the pitch and really command the midfield just as messi does on the right up top.

i do NOT agree with his price tag but as someone pointed out earlier it would be a great political move for laporta who i'm sure wants to leave his name in the history books as fabregas is catalan(which would appease the locals) and a world class player without a doubt.

as for people saying this would only encourage youth players to leave and come back for a hefty fee i say, "by all means, do it." you can turn out like dos santos. hey, he's world class and i myself am mexican so i'd be the first guy to give him props but he fucked up.

van persie is ok but he'd be totally superfluous with fabregas in the team. no thanks.

p.s. pep i LOVE your blog so if you need someone to proofread/translate articles i'd be more than happy to help. and i'd cost practically nothing. ;^)
