British tabloid The Sun claims that Manchester City has made a bid of 26 million euro° for Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré (25).
A Barcelona source is quoted as saying that the club isn't planning to let the Ivorian midfielder leave: "There is an offer for Yaya but the club will do what is necessary to convince the player to stay."
Manchester City would have offered Touré, who would be unsettled at Barcelona after the club had promised him last summer a new deal that in the end never materialised, to double his current 2,6 million euro year salary if he joins the English Premier League club.

26 million euro =
32 million us dollar
24 million british pound
This is making me sick, although I don't think he's that spineless to leave.
Man city wld be the harlem globe trotters of football. They want everyone. only 11 can play. God help them in their quest but not at my teams expense.
At leaast that fee is already coming closer to what the guy is worth. Not that earlier talk (Arsenal-Juventus) about 10-15 million euro, which was ridculous. Best DM in the world (with also great skills in attack), so if I was man City and I had the money, i would at least give this a try. Contract until 2011, I think, so we need to tie him down next summer.
You have to love Man City for their attempts to sign good players for a below average club. I don't think Yaya is a mercenary like Robinho and the only silverware he will be getting at City will be the stuff he buys to put on display in his house if he went. I can't see Barca selling and him going. But of all the EPL teams I'd rather he go there than the stingy Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd. I prefer he went to Liverpool if he left Barca. Watch them SMASH Madrid!
2,6 million euro year salary? Now I am not sure how serious this detail is, but if its true then Yaya has the right to give barcelona two options new deal or bye bye.
I'm not a salary guy, but he sure could be in that range, I think.
Shouldn't forget the salary was agreed two years ago, when he was coming from Monaco. Given his performances, they should think about lifting it up to 3,5-4 million.
He said he isnt interested in leaving. Why would he leave first in the league and champions league and cup runs ahead to join a team that is fighting relegation, out of both cups and is in the 2nd tier european competition? In any case i'm sure he will get a new contract soon if he keeps playing the way he does.
I wish my old friedn "Memo" would comment on this. He never rated YAYA. 2.6 was ideal based on where he was coming from. But based on where he is at the moment, hes worth more than that. It doesnt take a genius to know that. And you need to see the Arsenal fans here in London, they are are going nuts with jealousy....
It's funny but Chelsea were viewed the same size as Manchester City in early 2003. Wonder if they will just become another small-time club with money like Chelsea are.
I dont want to sell this guy. He is very important.
It is a MUST to have this kind of a balance m.f palyer. We sold Van Bommel for two years ago without to really repalce him and we saw the diffrences. We saw directly the diffrences when Real madrid sold Makelele.
Yaya is an imortant key in the squed, and we can never dare to sell him, before one is 100% sure to get a real good one instead.
The club needs to think seriosly to give him more money so he will want to stay.
Yaya is only 25 years so he worthes an investmant.
Van Bommel wasn't a DM, FCB. He played higher in midfield (alongside Xavi or Deco).
We should try to keep him, although I think we should keep a cool head with the salaries.
Man City can fool madrid by getting robinho but we have no need to sell him. i saw his wonder goal against mallorca and although it was luck tat th ball was stuck to his feet, he's got wat it takes to stay in this barca team n fight for a place... Long live Barca!
