!!Messi és el Rei!!

I must admit I was more worried than excited during the match. Just looking at the way Atlético were trying to play with us, was pure embarrassment.
I actually like the playing of Simao and MAniche and even Forlán, but the watching them fouls us yellow card after yellow card. It was massacre players feet not a fair futbol match!
Im actually little suprise Pep didnt say anything, I mean I understand its futbol and he cant complain everytime all the time, but I must agree with announcer its a damn shame we have to let our players like Messi sit out, just for the simple fact that they get hacked elbowed and have to foul everyone instead! And its not just Messi, anyone else catch how lucky A.Iniesta is to walk off that pitch with both his feet! ffs

Im sorry to say Bojan was ghost all match..he needs more playing time.

Carceres had some nice improvement and almost notched 2 headers for himself....excellent hustle in my mind.
Not much defending him and Pique did, but when needed, they got the job done.

The whole team were in perfect harmony - when we were not being fouled!

Its seems the whole of europe has it in to beat us, and they will do it anyway they can - malicious or fairly - this really worries me as Messi fan, a Barca Fan, and Futbol FAN!

-----------------------------------------------------
And what happen to the first yellow card, i think, when the mistakenly gave it to Assunçao, then 2nd half he gets another one, and they explain that refs must of talked at half and corrected the mistake, but who got it then?!!

The yellow card was given to Sinama.

I missed the game! :(

I am concerned that staying in the Copa Del Rey is going to hinder our chances at winning the Champions League. If we make it to the final, including today’s game, we will play 8 games in the Copa alone. That, in my opinion, is a genuine issue for concern because these games will drain us physically and mentally. Not to mention the injuries that will come by playing so many games. It’s already more than enough that we have to play 21 more games in La Liga and then an additional 7 games in the Champions League, provided we make it to the final. Now some of you will argue that we have enough depth to rotate the squad, and even though I agree I also fear that, by playing the additional 8 games will leave us with nothing left in the tank. Thus, we may never see the finish line come May in the Champions League, which brings me to my biggest issue of concern. Just ask yourself this question: Do you really believe that we can make it to the final of the Copa and Champions League, while running away with La Liga, and win all three? If any Barcelona fan can answer yes to that question in a rational manner, then I tip my hat to him or her, because that is serious Utopian thinking. (notice the sarcasm here)

We have a genuine chance to win this year’s Champions League. Especially the fortuitous draw in the Champions League. The way the other favorites have been drawn against each other in the Round of 16, will leave us with less favorites coming through to the Quarter Finals, meaning that this year’s road to the Champions League may not be that difficult after all. With a bit of luck, we can surely do the double this year, including the La Liga.

Fast forward to earlier today: I was skeptical when Guardiola announced the squad for today’s game. To me it just looked too strong. And when he had Messi in the starting line up, my biggest fear was confirmed. Guardiola is taking this competition seriously. I just can’t see why we would want to fight for this year’s Copa del Rey when we have the best chance to win the Champions League this year. It is unrealistic to fight on all three fronts because we will run out of steam.

I have serious questions about Guardiola’s intentions and his rationale concerning the decisions he has taken regarding this second half of the season. As a Barcelona fan, I am seriously worried about the implications that Guardiola’s decision to go after the King’s Cup will have on the overall performance of our squad this year, especially in the Champions League.

This short journal entry and reflection upon today’s game is intended to spark a discussion as to what other bloggers on this website might think regarding the Copa del Rey.

I don't share your concerns, BarcaFan. First it will be seven games (if we get to the final). Second, yesterday was the most difficult game before maybe the final and we already won that one with almost a B-team (only Toure started on Saturday). Third, we have good draws for the quarters and semis.

What do you want, to give the cup away just like that and put all our money on the CL, where you need even more luck to win? Not a chance. It just won't happen, so enjoy things while they last!

The line-up had at least 6 first team players missing ! Whats the matter ? Its still early to start getting so jittery . I' d be worried about injuries from fouls though. If spanish teams are gonna come so hard at us then imagine what the thugs from England n Italy might do.

Also, fellow Cules I have a very earnest request. Not all of us are fortunate enough as to be able to watch all the games, particularly Copa Del Rey matches. So if anyone has any information or links to sites where games may be streamed or downloaded it will be very much appreciated. Thanks

I wish I could share your enthusiasm. So I guess, we'll just have to wait until the end of the season to see what will happen. I hope you guys are right and I am just worrying too much. However, you have to understand that I really want this team to win the Champions League. We have a GREAT chance to do it this year and that's why I think that going after the Copa del Rey is not such a wise option.
There is a wise saying that goes something like this: "The higher you fly the harder you fall." Let's just hope that we don't end up singing this tune in the end. We may be playing beautiful football, but at the end, it's the results that matter. That's what you are ultimately remembered for and not by how much potential your team has.
