Sevilla president thinks Capel transfer unlikely

Asked about the rumours linking Sevilla left winger and Spanish international Diego Capel (20) with Barcelona (read more here), Sevilla president José María del Nido avoided to talk about his plans to renew the player and has said at a press conference this weekend that he didn't yet receive a buyout offer for the player:

"I don't think he will leave since nobody has asked for him. And because of a basic respect between the clubs, there's always a previous contact with the club, like has happened in other cases when they were willing to pay the buyout fee of one of our players. We are not planning to enter negotiations for him and until this day I don't see any club capable of paying the buyout clause (btz: of 15,6 million euro°)."

He's so scared that someone will get Capel... 15,6 really is a bargain and he knows it. Someone will pay it before the week is over.

Del Nido's far from scared. The man is not easily intimidated or bullied. He's aware of the rumors, but to the surprise of no one he's not going to allow other teams (especially one in the same league) to just barge in and raid his players. I think Del Nido's made it clear he doesn't wish to sell the player, but if Barcelona (or any other team) are willing to meet Capel's buyout there's little Del Nido can do about it. The only way Capel would remain at the club is if he rejected Barcelona's offer. Although I think it's safe to say that as Capel continues to improve on his game his days at Sevilla become less and less. It's just a matter of time before he moves on to greener pastures and Del Nido already knows this. So I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if Del Nido "reworked" Capel's contract, immediately increasing the player's wages while at the same time stamping a heftier buyout clause into the player's contract. That way both player and club are satisfied...at least for the time being.

15.6 mil is nothing for Diego Capel when he is only 20 years old with lots of talent and Barca is makeing a big mistake if they don't sign him!!!!

Del Nido already tried a renewal, Cojonudo (salary tise + buyout rise) but Capel is rejecting his offers (like Poulsen did). That's why he's scared cause he knows there aren't much left wingers available and some clubs are still looking for one. And not only Barcelona. If Robinho goes to Chelsea than Madrid will go after Capel too.
