I still think he's abit suspect. defensively.

Anony...thats why i mentioned before that barca need to let Abidal do what he do best (defense) and Alves to do what he know most (pushing forward), that will only happen through giving abidal the role to play as a 3rd CB when team gain possession and alves push forward, and count on a LW supported by midfield to open up on the left to balance with messi/alves on the other flank.
Still not happening.

Anything Less than a 10 for Alves would be unfair.

I would definitely give Alves 9 or 10 if he can also defend well and not get injured.

I'm not surprised at the results. Alves is a very good player, possibly a great one but I'm always hesistant to give a player that tag because "greatness" means your the best of the best and Alves still has to prove that in an azulgrana shirt.

I have no doubt he can pull it off but giving the man a "10" right off the bat means that nothing less than perfect and spectacular will do. I on the other hand still believe it's going to take some time for him to incorporate himself at the club. That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see him get off to a bit of a slow start and really start to make his mark towards the latter end of the season when it matters most.

I'll at least concede that he's a definite upgrade over Zambrotta but then even a blind man could make that assessment.
