OFFICIAL: Bojan renewal

Barcelona has today officially announced that Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic (18) has signed this morning a contract renewal that will link him to the club until 2013 and includes a buyout clause of 80 million euro°.

The Catalan-Serbian striker will meet with Barcelona president Joan Laporta in the coming days to formally close the deal.

Bojan confirmed the news at a press conference: "I have signed a new contract and now I just have to meet the president. I'm very happy at the club and I hope to keep on learning and to win a lot of trophies in the coming five years. Players like Puyol, Xavi or Iniesta are real examples for me. This will be my tenth season with the club and I hope to continue here at least as long as them."

Bojan Krkic joined Barcelona in 1999 and was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2007.

Still have some doubts on the guy. He really should get some more physical strength, don't know.

The boy is 170, its limited how much weight he can gain in strenght. I agree that he isn't that big and he might need a bit workout. But he is not a typical attacker. He is a tight, small and fast one. And i think he proved his worth last season as a 17 year old boy.

Yet again, i think he fits well on the wing based on is pace and tecnique.

That is a real problem with Barca, we lack physical presence. Against physical opposition we run into difficulties, especially the previous 2 seasons when players were not at their peak and our game plan was quite predictable. Last 2 seasons teams realised to shut us down, all they needed was men behind the ball, play physical and counter attack.

I wish you guys would relax on the point regarding Bojan's physicality or lack thereof. I brought it up in a previous post as a criticism "some" have towards him. While he is never going to rival the likes of Drogba or Adebayor in terms of physical strength he is going to get stronger and "fill out" with age.

And at last check I didn't see anyone complaining about Messi's lack of physical strength? Aguero played as the primary striker for Argentina in the Olympics and he's no bigger than Bojan either!

The bottom line is you can have all the physicality in the world but it doesn't mean a thing if you don't have pure natural talent and technique. And, at least to me Bojan's got more "pure" talent than either Drogba or Adebayor. I'm not saying he's as good as them today, but he has the potential to become one of the great strikers in the world.

If physicality becomes an issue during Champions League play then Barcelona should invest in a foil for Bojan, who will bring those qualities, and perhaps height into the mix, down the road.

Let's give the lad a break he just turned 18! What more do you want from him at this stage? How many 17yr. olds do you know of that could have performed like he did in a premier league, going up against grown men last season? I can't think of many if any, ok, I guess you can throw Pato in there but he was absent for half the season.

Great talent, loves the club, bright future ahead of him.

I agree with Cojonudo, let's give him some time, he's just 18.
