Barcelona interested in Di Maria

Portuguese sports paper A Bola claims that Barcelona is amongst the European top clubs who already were following Benfica left winger and Argentinian international Angel Di María (20) before the Beijing Games. Di María scored yesterday the winning goal in the final of the Olympic tournament.

Benfica, who signed the player only one year ago, is not willing to sell the player. The Portuguese club is preparing a renewal offer and will only let Di María leave if his buyout of 30 million euro° is paid.

Di María told Portuguese news agency Lusa yesterday that he's calm about all the latest transfer speculation and that Benfica will decide on his future.

Do Barca really know what they want? Ash, Capel, Silva, Neves, now Di Maria.. We seem a bit confused. Lets make up our mind and get one.

noubarca its news paper who is talking about"barca interested in this and that" so dont blame barca.

I was expecting that this is coming, i can tell u that if i played good in a game with my friends u will c a news on "sport" or other news paper saying "barca are tracking a mysterious player" so dont take things seriously...

Di Maria is a good option, he said he dont want to leave this season, we will c about that...

Just not going to happen. For one there's no way Barcelona are going to agree on a 30mil inflated evalution of the player just because he looked good at the Olympics. Barcelona aren't going to tempted into an impulse buy. If that was the case I'm sure Arshavin would have been wearing the azulgrana kit by now due to his sterling performance at the Euro's.

Secondly Di Maria is the apple of Madrid's eye. Should Robinho's departure become imminent you can be sure Madrid will make a strong push for Di Maria and they'll have funds from Robinho's sale to make an offer that Benfica might not be able to refuse.

Last but not least, (and not to take anything away from Di Maria) but it's hard NOT to look good when you are surrounded by the likes of Messi and Aguero upfront. I'm sure he would be the last of the three on a defenses priority list. I give the lad credit he had a great tournament thanks in no small part to the 'Messi threat'. But he's hardly worth 30mil. Half of that sounds much more reasonable and accurate.

I think Barca can just leave the team as it is now or just buy a cheap and decent left winger like Neves because next season we can use Pedro, Jeffren and Gai Assulin next season as left winger. Also to save some money to buy Benzema and a left back next season. Next season, I think Barca should sell a centre back when Henrique arrives. The last thing I think Barca have to do before the season starts, is to replace Valdes with someone else. Akinfeev, Given..... whatever.

Right type of player that we really need for the left wing. He's a winger that score a lot of goals. He was a 2nd top scorer behind Aguero in the U-20 WC Canada. Get him, then we can concentrate searching a left back and a goalie in another transfer window. If we don't wanna get him now.. just make sure RM or MU don't get him.

i think abidal is darn well at the pos, he just needed some more adjusment to the league and squad.
