Sylvinho signs contract with Manchester City

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Manchester City is close to a deal on the transfer of former Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (35), whose contract with Barcelona expired this summer and was not renewed (read more here).

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo meanwhile claims that Sylvinho and Manchester City have already reached an agreement. The Brazilian left back would have signed yesterday a one-year contract with the English Premier League club.

Manchester City officials reportedly contacted Ramon Sostres, the player's agent, last Wednesday when the club was in Barcelona to play the Joan Gamper Trophy game. On Thursday, the main conditions of the contract would have been agreed upon and both Sylvinho and his agent would have travelled yesterday to Manchester to close the operation.

It seems ManUtd going for Luka Modric and Balázs Dzsudzsák agreed a deal with Arsenal... WTF is wrong with our Txiki man! All the players that I wished we got them are ending up with our rivals :(

This would indeed be a good move for Sylvinho. That is before he returns to Barcelona to help train the juvenil a-team ;)

Modric to ManU... where did u hear that Andressibra.... If it happens the kid will become a star, he has lots of potential. I wish we would sign him.

Check out Redrants which is like the official blog of ManUtd fans. There's a speculation like Carrick+cash swap with Modric which I doubt is true, because Ferguson can directly buy Modric without having second thoughts about the transfer fee. But he indeed came out publicly and expressed his liking towards Modric & as we all know if Ferguson has set his eye on a prodigy he generally won't back down from buying him irrespective of the price the parent clubs claim for the player

and where did you hear about Dzsudzsak and Arsenal?

Some friend of mine who is a die-hard Arsenal fan. But Futbolmercado quoted the player himself as saying there's been a formal offer from Arsenal for him. So I'm buying that speculation. Moreover, Nasri & Rosicky are both out injured for Arsenal. So there's every possibility Wenger might sign the dude
