Jorquera could leave for free

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain will soon meet with Arturo Canales, the agent of Barcelona goalkeeper Albert Jorquera (30), to discuss the future of the player.

The Catalan goalkeeper can leave this summer and despite several Spanish first and second division clubs, among which Mallorca, Tenerife and Cádiz, having shown interest in Jorquera, his salary of 1 million euros a year would be an obstacle for a transfer.

Catalan sports paper Sport reports that Spanish second division club Girona is the last club to have asked for Jorquera, whose contract expires in the summer of 2010.

El Mundo Deportivo claims that in case it wouldn't be possible for Jorquera to leave on a permanent or even a loan deal, Barcelona would be willing to pay the player the rest of his contract and to let him go for free. The whole operation could be agreed upon during an upcoming meeting with Canales, a representative of sports marketing agency IMG.

LOL! Another "his wage would be an obstacle for a transfer fee". Barcelona does charity and says we will pay to get rid of him. Our transfer policy is just ridiculous.

Salary of 1 million....is Laporta crazy or what???!!

Get rid of this guy now please!

get rid of him he is useless

Last winter he wanted to go but the club kept him because they didn't wanted to take any risks. He gave up on interested clubs like Mallorca for that, which was a a great gesture. The club (and the fans) shouldn't complain now.

Considering we paid nothing from him and he came up through the youth ranks why on earth should we collect any money from him? He is the 3rd choice GK who has played just 7 league games for barca in 7 years, exactly how much should we get for him given that he can negotiate with teams in 6 months time for free? 20000 euros? Are you really that money hungry?

barca4life said...

Salary of 1 million per year which works out to be approx 20000 per week. That's not a bad wage for a backup player. Are we Barcelona or Arsenal?

Money hungry? We not only get no transfer fee, similar to Guddy, but we actually have to pay to get rid of them. Just because he is a youth product doesn't mean we shouldn't demand money, that is a ridiculous point. Our best players are all youth products and we paid nothing for them. Madrid managed to get 7m euros for Javi Garcia, if he was our youth product, we would probably have to pay to get rid of him.

1. Stop putting Javi Garcia as example, that money just comes back to Benfica by Madrid paying part of Saviola's salary.

If we would sell Messi, we get at once a fee that Madrid didn't even get for selling youth players for the past 100 years. Is that what you want?

2. I don't see the problem in the Jorquera case: we signed a contract so we should stick to it.

1 million euro is like the minimum for a Barcelona squad player. Nobody gets less when they have a professional contract.

Not true, fcbee. Madrid got 5m euros for Saviola. If they paid his salary, they wouldn't get a transfer fee.

Who said anything about selling Messi? Don't put words in my mouth.

barca4life said...

But exactly how much do you think we should get for jorquera? Tell me please. Javi Garcia is not 30 with 1 year left on his contract after playing 7 league games in the past 7 years. What do you want txiki to do? Pull out a gun and threaten to blow the Mallorca official's head off if he doesnt give us 5 million for Jorquera. If the market isnt there for this player it isnt there.

We have gotten good deals for players

Zambrotta - 9 million for a 31 yr old who was terrible in spain

Ronaldinho - 25 million for a player who hasnt done anything since

Deco - 10 million for a player who missed most of the season out with injury and who has been a shadow of himself

Giovanni - 6 million for a player that cant even make tottenhams team and went on loan to ipswich

Oleguer - 3 million for a player who was terrible

groga said...

5 millions and 7 millions are both to cover Saviola's wages for the next years.

And what about Huntelaar? In January you pay 27 millions and six months you sell for 15 millions. Oh yeah, how good Madrid are in selling players...

Baseline: one, stop complaining and two, stop focusing on Madrid.

Zambrotta terrible for us? Nonsense. He was good, far from terrible, and he had a great reputation in Italy. Deco was still good with us, and Chelsea have alot of money, I don't think the price was good. Injuries is something we can't predict. Giovanni for 6m? He has great potential, and I'm sure Tottenham could get more than 6m euros for him if they sell him, his market value increased alot when he was named Player of the Tournament in the Gold Cup. He made fun of USA's defence.

Oleguer was a regular starter for the CL champions, he played alot of games for us, in general he did quite well with Puyol, we wouldn't have won CL and the league if our central defender was terrible. We also gave away Van Bommel from that team. And of course, Larsson should not have been sent away, that was so stupid.

No, they are not to cover Saviola's wages! Benfica pays his wages and they gave 5m in transfer fee. They would not have given 5m to Madrid so they can pay his wages, that's nonsense.

groga said...

If you want to believe that Saviola would accept a Benfica wage (also knowing how he held on to his salary when he played for us), that's fine by me...

barca4life said...

Now i know you have not watched barcelona. Zambrotta was good for us? On which planet? Zambrotta was a shadow of his former self at barcelona. We were lucky to get as much as that for him. Chelsea have money? How much have they spent in the past 3 years?

This season

Just aroound 20 million pounds
Most on Zhikov who cost 18.5 mill

Last season

Just 25 million pounds
16 on bosingwa and 8 on deco

Season before that

Just around 30 million pounds

So chelsea arent spending wildly in the past 3 years. Just average

Gio could go for more than 6 million? Have you even been following the transfer market? Tottenham have been trying to offload him all summer and nobody would buy.

Oleguer was a regualar starter and regularly bad. He was not our CB, He was a RB Puyol and Marquez were our CB's

Larsson wanted to leave, we offered to keep him but he didnt want to stay.

barca4life said...

And what has van bommel done since we let him go? Elbow messi in the throat? Flip an ugly gesture at Madrid fans during a CL game with Bayern? We dont need that sort of thing at barca.

Anonymous said...

Zambrotta was definitely not terrible. He wasn't world class as in Serie A, but he was not terrible for us. That's just nonsense.

And Oleguer played alot of games as central defender with Puyol and he played alot. Belletti played alot on the RB. Oleguer's partnership with Puyol was good, we would not have won so much if Oleguer was terrible.

Chelsea have lots of money, they always pay top money for the players they want, so we should have done better than our deal with them.

Van Bommel has been one of the best midfielders in Bundesliga since we got rid of him.

Zambrotta was basicly useless in my opinion. He never did something on offense and was at best mediocre on defense. Remember the loss against Manchester united when we lost with 1-0 2years ago when we went out of the CL in the semi's? That goal was totally his fault, wrong pass and Scholes scored. I'll always remember him for that, cus Man U went through and won the CL after that.

barca4life said...

Zambrotta was horrible otherwise he would not have been sold. He certainly was not good. An absolute shadow of himself. Especially after how well he performed at the World Cup in 2006.

Oleguer played many games as CB yes but he was horrible too. Just like Javi Garcia who was a youth product that you so love oleguer went for 3 million in a non inflated market. Javi Garcia went for 5 million in an inflated market. We basically got the same thing. You are kidding yourself if you think Oleguer was worth anything more than about 3 million.

I want Jorquera to leave,he's holding one of our younger keepers...

Javi Garcia went for 7m euros and he was much worse than Oleguer, who played alot for us when we won alot. Javi Garcia was horrible, Oleguer was not. Yet, Javi Garcia cost 7m euros. It is just ridiculous to say that Oleguer was awful when he got so many games for so many seasons with us.

No, they are not to cover Saviola's wages! Benfica pays his wages and they gave 5m in transfer fee. They would not have given 5m to Madrid so they can pay his wages, that's nonsense.

RM gave that 5m to $aviola, so he would agree to move.

barca4life said...

LOL, by that reasoning valdes is the best goalkeeper ever since he played so many games for us?

Anonymous said...

By that reasoning, Valdes is a very good goalkeeper, that is why he has played so many games for us.
