Chelsea holding on to Drogba

Asked about the rumours linking Chelsea forward and Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba (30) with a move to Barcelona (read more here), new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari said at a press conference yesterday that he sees no reason why the player wouldn't stay with the English Premier League club:

"Didier's future with Chelsea is normal because he has a contract with us. I think he's very happy with Chelsea. Didier is now injured. The doctor and our medical staff made a plan to have him training and playing in maybe three or four weeks. At this moment it's impossible for Didier to come with us, but I hope when we come back he'll be in good condition."

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Chelsea would be ready to let Drogba go for a transfer price around 25 million euro°. The Ivorian striker, who agreed a three-year contract with Barcelona, hopes that the clubs can reach an agreement as soon as possible.

i still think 25 mil is a lot of money for a 30 year old diving cheat who will only be on top of his game for another two years, peoplesaid henry was too expensive and he was cheaper! it doesn't make sense to pay this much and then presumably pay another hefty fee for benzema or whoever drogba's replacement will be. hope he stays with chelsea. save the money and get aguero or neves, give henry a chance at no 9

The way I see it, it's either going to have to be Drogba or Adebayor or "bust"! If Barcelona can't get either of those two players they should just resort to getting Pavlyuchenko for half the price and use him as a late game "situational" striker.

Aguero as talented as he is wouldn't be an "ideal" fit because who is going to be on the other end of Alves' crosses into the box? Without a proper "target man" up front that's like only using half of Alves' skills to your advantage! I guess this means that without anyone to cross to, Alves will resort to making direct runs all the way up front and forced to take ridiculous "laser beam" long range shots on goal. What a waste of the man's talent!

so instead every team we play against knows that to shut us down, you shut down alves, easy. alves is good enough to put crosses in that henry can head as an option, but bring in aguero then every defence we face has to cover 3 or 4 danger men giving us more chances than being a one trick pony

Drogba nor adebayor have the right mentality. the aren't loyal to their clubs. So if they succeed we have the same problems like we have with eto'o. The fees are also too high. If we can sell eto'o, buy a good left winger. Like neves AND arshavin for 15m. Keep on to the rest of the money and get benzema or aguero next year. Henry or eto'o can also head the centres of alves!Romario wasn't big too.But he scores lovely headers..
