Txiki confirms continuation of Chygrynskiy talks

Asked about the renewed rumours linking Shakhtar defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22) with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain confirmed to journalists that the club is still working on a transfer:

"We will keep on talking, because it's a very interesting player and if we can close a deal, we will do that. I don't think it's necessary to meet in order to reach an agreement. We have one week left and we will try to make it happen. There are alternatives for Chygrynskiy though. He's not the only option we're working on. We will see which one is the best and most feasible option. But we've started with Chygrynskiy and let's see if we can close the operation."

It's like an obsession. I do'nt see it happen. Why would Shakhtar sell? They have money enough and they have big plans.

fcbee said...

Good they say that there are some alternative options now.

trez said...

Guess the alternatives are just a negotiating tactics. And Shakhtar knows that too... ;)

So i guess, its only a CB we will sign.

i still think we need a midfielder.

For now we need a winger more than a mid-fielder after buying a CB, until the winter transfer window starts. Because Bojan & Pedro are not yet ready to fill up the void if, God forbid, Henry gets injured or not available. The mid-field seems covered until Yaya & Keita have to leave on national duty

I believe more in Thiago/Jonathan than in Pedro/Jeffren actually, so I would also prefer a winger. Although I think we'll only sign one more player because we don't have the money for more.

blaugrana1:

Chyggy-Puyol-Pique-Marquez with Muniesa and Fontas covering when needed. This means that Pique and Marquez can play the DM when needed, and giving Yaya the option of playing in a more offensive role as CM where we can use his great attacking qualities better.

DMs: Busquets, Pique, Marquez
CMs: Yaya, Iniesta, Xavi, Keita, Tiago, Dos Santos

Do we really need another midfielder? I don't think so. With Chyggy we can play Puyol on the right when needed. I don't think there are any need for a midfielder.

I do think that we could use another forward/winger. I am not convinced with Pedro and Jeffren.

Chygrynskiy yes or no, but nxt season, we have to sell Milito and get Nicolas Otamendi...

How do you think we will be able to get money for Milito who hasn't played football for 18 months? He still has a wage you know, who will take such a big risk on him? Better to see how he does with us, before paying him to leave for another club (which would be the case if we get rid of him now).

I read an interview of Txiki on EMD I suppose. He was quoted as saying we are interested in signing a CB & a winger and signing a mid-fielder is definitely ruled out. And I guess I could see the reason why! May be the present preferential order as I interpret is
CDM : Yaya>Busquee>Marquez(?)>Keita>Pique(?)
CM :Xavi>Iniesta>Yaya>Thiago>Busquets
CAM :Iniesta>Keita>Toure>Messi>JDS

So, hopefully letting out Gudjohnson won't be much of a problem as I see it :)

We do need a winger. Say for example we buy Luis Suarez, there would be different scenarios.
He would back-up henry, eventually owning that position for himself.
He would back-up Ibra, and right I don't see a proper back-up for him :(
He would back-up Messi.

Though we do have Bojan & Pedro, IMO they aren't yet ready for the job.

Messi could play Iniesta's role as CAM; I think he just owned Madrid & ManUtd defenses in that role. So Suarez would indirectly provide a back-up for Iniesta as well.
If, God forbid, Xavi is injured, I see only Iniesta replacing those boots against quality oppositions, not Yaya, not Busquets. In that case Messi would play in central, with Suarez playing at RW without compromising much of quality.

Henry is the backup for Ibra. Whenever Ibra or Henry is out, Iniesta moves to Henry's position. Even when Messi is out, Iniesta will move to Messi's position. I am certain that this will be the case. Xavi-Yaya-Busquets in midfield, or maybe Marquez/Pique for Busquets if he is out or not preferred by Pep.

as long as the super cup isnt in the deal(we will be sure on friday) i dont care anymore.give the 25 and get him.we need to focus on other positions

Andréssibraviqué said...

LOL @ skanjos
Even I had that wicked thought. But thank God, Pep is pure Catalan at heart. He would never agree for such a deal :)

After i wached Thiago in the game against City, i don't think anymore that we need someone tu buy for CM. That guy already can play on the highest level, and deserve chance in first team, something like Bousquets last season. For that position i would only buy Fabregas next year. I agree that we need worl class winger like Robben, Aguerro, Hulk or something like that, Pedro and Bojan are not world class jet.

IMO i dont think his worth more then 15m or maybe im watching wrong games. hopefully he wont be a flop

I hope we get someone else to be honest

Frankly my biggest concern is the fact that he has never played outside of Ukraine, furthermore I have my doubts whether he would be able to adjust to the spanish language and general environment.

Does anyone know if he speaks english? If not, thats another problem, as he would have major difficulties communicating with his teammates. Both Maxwell, Abidal, Puyol and Pique speaks english (just to name the defensive line). However I dont know if Alves does.

fcbee said...

He has a university degree so guess he has enough brain cells to learn English, Emilfu.

Emilfu said...

I dont question his mental capability, nor his braincells.

I do however question whether he can speak english at the moment, which would ease his integration

English? They speak Spanish. Puyol, Maxwell, Abidal speak english? Why? None of them have been living in an english-speaking country as far as I know.

Emilfu said...

Thats true, but neither have I.

The 3 mentioned above, have all been taking english lessons either in school or on the side. As they all speak english more or less fluently.

Is Chygrynskiy really good? I haven't watched him play and it is hard to find videos of him. Isnt he just a downgrade from Pique? Similar but Pique is a better passer, faster and reads the game better?

Sachincule said...

we will know if chygrynskyiy is really worth the hype or no on the day of supercup on 28th... i hope they don't make a deal until then and only if he plays great in that match make the deal...

Puyol speaks only Spanish and Catalan. Alves knows no English...

Yaya speaks Russian.. :)

Pique, Marquez, Gudjohnsen, Ibrahimovic, Henry, Yaya speaks English quite fluently.. even Maxwell knows quite a bit too. And don't forget Pep!

I'm not sure about the others in the squad though.

I agree with most of you that we need a winger desperatly. Bojan and Pedro wont be up to the challange and an attack with Messi Bojan and Pedro leaves us with some very small players and with Xavi and Iniesta behind them they are going to have a tough time against some physical strong defenders.

Mesut Özil is not ready to sign a renewal anymore with his current club Werder Bremen & his contract is about to end by 2011 summer. So it seems the club would be ready to cash in on the talented attacker now!

I wonder if our board would be interested. Özil is seriously a rare talent. Bremen wanted him to replace Diego & he's been quite promising in that role, but since the negotiations for his renewal are off, they are forced to sell him. He played at wing when Diego was still at Bremen. From wing he scored 4 goals and provided 15 assists last season. One of the most ideal players for our requirements IMO

Txiki said in the beginning of the transfer season that Barcelona wanted a Striker: Ibrahimovic, A winger: ?, A LB: Maxwell, A CB: Chygrynskiy or youth players, and maybe a midfielder: ?

Hopefully, we could sort this out asap! We do need reinforcements for a long season ahead, and this Chygrnskiy lad seems like the right man, though not for the 25-30 million Shakhtar are asking for!
