Barcelona sounds out Juventus goalkeeper Buffon

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona is interested in Juventus goalkeeper and Italian international Gianluigi Buffon (31).

Barcelona's technical staff would be unsatisfied with the performances of Víctor Valdés this season and the club would be looking to strenghten the goalkeeping position in the summer.

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would like to sign a younger goalkeeper by following the advice of Barcelona goalkeeping coach Juan Carlos Unzué and former Barcelona assistant coach Eusebio who recommended Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19) and Atlético Madrid B goalkeeper and Spanish youth international David De Gea (18).

The board of the club would nevertheless be wanting to buy a more experienced goalkeeper. Buffon has therefore already been sounded out and the Italian goalkeeper would have welcomed the interest and would be glad to live a new football adventure before he retires.

In this scenario, Valdés could well leave the club this year, one year before the end of his contract. In that case, Barcelona would try to sign De Gea, who would then be given the time to grow in the shadow of Buffon in the coming years. Atlético Madrid would be aware of the interest of Barcelona in their young player and will try to counter it by promoting De Gea to the first team next season.

I really hope this is true story, because VV is no point for him to stay our number 1 keeper for the next season

Buffon in goal for a few seasons would be spectacular imo. I'm a massive fan and goalkeepers can always stay on top longer than other players.

I don't think Guardiola wants a different goalie though, so I don't think this will ever happen. Add to that the probable reluctance of Juventus to let him go and it looks like a very difficult transfer.

They should change their name from AS to BS. LOL. I could not see buffon leaving juve. He stayed with them in serie B for crying out loud. Probably just and attempt by AS to unsettle valdes even more than he already is for the rest of this season

lol @ barca4life...
seriously... why would he ask for a new challenge nowwhen he dint wanna leave Juve when they were in serie B... may be if its some other goalie who's been linked with us, then may be this can be true... but Buffon to Juve has negative probability...

I hope everyone here realizes that this report is absolute rubbish - and the only intent, which was mentioned here above me is to lower the confidence of Valdes even further than what I suppose it already is at the moment.

However! I'd gladly give any body part of your choosing if it meant we'd get Buffon instead of señor Valdes between our posts.

unseriosly. he's 31 years old. valdes is a catalan. they would never let him go even if he continues his bad performances and even if we lose the liga and the cl and the spanish cup. he would stay. that's the only problem the board is not willing to solve.

We dont need Buffon, he is a very bad keeper. Valdes is much better than him.

And I am only saying that because I know we cant have him!

He's a great golie but he's now old and Valdes is much younger.

And what kind of pricetag should he have if we would buy him?
City offered around 80 m euro wasn't it?

Sell Joquerra, keep pinto as third choise and then buy Guillermo Ochoa from Mexico (23 y), Asenjo or the Atl.Madrid youth keeper.

But with Asenjos first team experience and in my mind he's better than David.. so I would rather go for Asenjo than David.

here is some vids of Ochoa.
He has been voted as the 11 best Goalkeeper in the world!

Finally the bord are awake good to see that, eventhough thats almost immpossible to be happening, but who knows Figo went from barca to mardid who would have thought about that, im saying that because everything can happen. And hopefully this is it. That would be magnificient.

hahaha this is crap story.
we don't need buffon or de gea
we need just asenjo to put pressure on valdes.
but we have already have young promising GK named ruben mino.
i would see this guy on 3rd GK next season.

No chance

Buffon stayed with Juve in Serie B i dont think he wil leave Juve now that we are in the CL. The only way Juventus would consider an offer for Buffon is if it was > 80 million or included a player like Bojan, MESSI, Iniesta, Caceres (Juve need versatile defender) or Xavi. I dont think Barcelona would offer any of these players so this transfer is impossible.
FORZA JUVE!!!

Asenjo's full name isn't exactly a Spanish name right? Just asking.
